  1. Hello Rana. A short answer is that depends of what use you do. Sure with a limited internet account is not recommended not only for Second Life but for any virtual world and online 3D applications.
  2. Hello TinyTim. It is rare here to read that someone has problems with Nvidia Graphics card, especially when they are included in recommended ones like yours (series GTX / sure it would be better to have the GTX 275 or 295). My computer wears nvidia GT 240 and my laptop a GT 520M and both run without any problem even i have my graphics quality to Ultra. Maybe you crash for another reason and no because of your nvidia?
  3. Hello Delta. The best you can do is to check out the recommended system requirements using the following link: https://secondlife.com/my/support/system-requirements/?lang=en-US My suggestion is that you choose very carefully your graphics card, because most problems come from unsuitable graphics cards. You will notice that you don't need something special about the RAM or CPU so is easy to build your computer.
  4. Alternatively you can try to become Account Verified having "Payment info on file". This way you have access almost in all adult regions except of the estate owner restricts the access only to residents verified with age verification. For more details check the following link: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Account-verification-types/ta-p/805983
  5. Hello. Try to download a previous edition of Viewer 2 here or a Third Part Viewer here If you download a previous edition of Viewer 2, set your software updates NO to be installed automatically. (Preferences --> Setup --> Hardware). Some more details would help for a better suggestion.
  6. Very good point Peewee! me whispers: Never i use Menu Me or Ctrl+Q. Always i use X ... shhhhh
  7. Hello Soa. Unfortunately all new users (new accounts i mean) have the last name resident. That means very simply that you can not use the same first name with anyone user. If you want to use a name and someone else got it already, you need to find another. I am sorry but you can not do something else or different.
  8. Hello Saraine and welcome to Second life! Just click the X button (up right corner). You are in Basic Mode with Viewer 2. For more options is good to relog in Advanced Mode. You can change it down in your log in screen. EDIT: In Advanced Mode the command is: Menu Me --> Exit Second Life
  9. Hello Mix. Open your inventory, write something in search there and wait fetching ALL your items till the last one. After that, move to a region with less lag. Smith is a protected land which is recommended. There, try to change outfit. Choose one with just the necessary stuff (skin, shape, hair, eyes, pants and shirt) without any attachments. Something else you can do is the test your avatar. In Viewer 2 give the command: Menu Develop (Ctrl+Alt+Q) --> Avatar --> Character Tests --> Test Male / Female. Usually that's enough to fix your problem. Start this way and let us know if you fixed the problem. If not, other solutions needed like clear manually your cache or install other viewer. Good luck.
  10. Hello michael. What exactly you mean when you say that you can't address the house controls? Can you give us some more details? You can edit your post.
  11. Hello Navx. Go to https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ Create the ticket for "Reactivate an old account". There is a charge of $9.95
  12. Hello Christina. You need to get an age verification (Age Verified) or to get "Payment info on file" (Account Verified) . Have a look at the following links: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Age-verification/ta-p/700021 http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Account-verification-types/ta-p/805983
  13. Hello fallenangel. With the new Web Profiles you can not use a pic direclty by your inventory for your profile. The pic must to be saved in your computer (hard disk). The easiest way is to take a snapshot, save it in your computer. After that, Open your profile --> Edit profile --> Change --> Choose file --> Upload --> Save If you have an old pic in your inventory and you want to use it as profile pic, open the pic in world --> save as and save it in your computer. The problem is that that pic saved with the extension .tga Viewer 2 doesnt allow to upload pics with that extension. So you need to open a pic with a program for editing pics and save it AS with one of the following extensions: a) .gif b) .jpg c) .png If you havent program for editing pics in your computer (like photoshop for example), open the pic in world --> click the key "print sceen" by your keyboard --> open a simple program for pics (like Microsoft Paint) --> paste the pic there and save using one of the acceptable extensions i reported. After that, you are ready to upload. Thats all.
  14. Really i love all pics.... ! :matte-motes-inlove:
  15. me blushes.... Thanks so much Rhonda for your good words... x x x :matte-motes-bashful-cute:
  16. Totally agree with Shockwave about Geforce nvidia cards. My computer wears a GT 240 and my laptop a GT 520 M and both run faster than a bullet even i have my graphics quality to Ultra.

    Problem with SL.

Hello Miachi. Sounds like a problem with your Web Browser. The Web server (running the Web site) thinks that the HTTP data stream sent by the client was correct, but simply can not provide the access to the resource specified by your URL. At first Menu Tools --> Internet Options --> Connections --> check out that nothing is checked in LAN settings window. After that, try to reset your Internet Explorer. (Be sure that you remember all your passwords) Menu Tools --> Internet Options --> Advanced --> Reset Internet Explorer settings --> Reset --> Close Restart the program.
  18. Hello Mandichi. If we follow the recommended system requirements for Second Life you need a ATI Randeon 4850 or 4870 or 4890. Have a look at the following link: http://secondlife.com/support/system-requirements/?lang=en-US
  19. Hello michael. Did you try to use other browser?
  20. Hello. Do you get any message when you try to login? Some more details would help for a better answer. You can edit your post. EDIT: I can't suggest something else than make sure that the time & date on your computer are set correctly and that you type your Username and Password correctly also. Don't care for the extra asterisks. Maybe a solution is to unistall the program and to try to download a previous edition of viewer 2 ( http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Supported_Viewers ) or a Third Party Viewer ( http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Third_Party_Viewer_Directory )
  21. Hello cragt. Anyone can support confidently if this card will be sufficent to run Second Life when it is not included in recommended system requirements. For more details and before you build your new pc have a look at the following link: http://secondlife.com/support/system-requirements/?lang=en-US
  22. hello Jerald. Open your dashboard --> account --> contact information.
  23. Hello Tiara. Open your Dashboard --> Shopping --> Marketplace --> My Marketplace --> My account --> Order History --> If you see that your last purchases delivered means that the merchant(s) got payed --> Take a copy of your last purchases --> Open your inventory --> create a New Notecard --> Paste there --> send the notecard to the merchant(s) describing what was happened and asking politely for redelivery. Alternatively: Dashboard --> Account --> Transaction History --> copy your last transactions and repeat the same process as i described
  24. You can download the last edition of viewer 2 here: http://secondlife.com/support/downloads/?lang=en-US For previous editions here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Supported_Viewers
  25. Hello. Sounds like your firewall doesnt allow to run the program. Did you check it out?
