Someone accused me of being a spammer once, because I had a link to my sim in my profile. So, whereas I would not consider such stuff spam, other people might. I would have told them to cry me a river.

Casper no longer owns Caspervend and I'd be shocked if he still had access to its database. They said they contacted Caspervend. How? LL owns Caspervend now. If I had a problem with a Caspervend transaction I'd have to contact LL about it. The $1,000L fee makes absolutely no sense. The ultimate destination of any $L transaction is always listed on your Dashboard. The bottom line here is that none of this makes any sense outside of someone creating some kind of spoof to make it look like it was a transaction through Caspervend. Linden Lab would have ZERO tolerance for a spoof like this.

Your do not need your parcel to encompass 0,0,0. You only need to have rez rights at that position. Regarding the "risky," when the function was first introduced there was a problem with "no copy" items becoming permanently lost. The ability to "return to last position" is now restricted in Firestorm (I don't know about other TPVs). You can only use it for items that are "copy" so there is no risk of losing them.

Ignore, mute & derender are your friends. If someone is hassling you do not under any circumstance respond. They will get bored and move on. Never share your log in information, i.e., password with any one no matter how altruistic they may sound. Also note that under no circumstance would an employee of Linden Lab and/or any member of a Third Party Viewer team ever request your log in information. Report any one who pretends to be either of those.

1. How long have you participated in Second Life? I have been here since 2017 with one brief break. And I use the word "here" with specific intent. I see Second Life as a place. We could spend a long time discussing this perception and what it means to me as well as what it may mean to others here. 2. How many hours per week (on average) do you participate in SL? Perhaps more than I should. Twenty to thirty hour per week on average. 3. How much time have you invested in your avatar? Gosh, I wouldn't know how to even begin counting the hours I have spent. It is almost a never ending process. Plus there was a big change only a few years ago with the introduction of mesh bodies. That was a start all over again process for all of us who were here when then happened. Shopping for new clothes can take up a fairly large percentage of our time in SL. While I can not speak for others, I really enjoy shopping for clothes with my female companions. 4. Do you make your real identity known, or do you remain pseudonymous? With only a few rare exceptions I remain pseudonymous. 5. What is the worst thing a person can do in SL? The very worst would be sexual *****. But on an interpersonal level, not treating people with respect. That especially includes people who see Second Life as a game, a subject that has been debated and continues to be debated at great length. Bottom line is that we are interacting with other real people through our Avatars and it is very, very wrong to forget this. (This forum seems to not like a word I used, replacing it with *****, so you may need to fill in the blank but the word 'child' would be involved)

Me too. Me three. And @TechLawProf I'd like to point our a little factoid here about these Forums that inform the answers here, why and how people answer. The average age of this Forum's participants probably exceeds forty and quite possibly fifty years old. And thank you for sharing your bone-fides.

I haven't tried to read the entire thread so I may have missed it. In the past I have participated in two studies, one for someone pursuing a Masters degree, the other a PHD. In both cases the students posted links to their bone-fides. In other words they outed their RL identities to me. Both times were interesting experiences. One thing that stood out to me was that their questions were well thought out and showed they had a good understanding of SL. They were clearly not uninformed fishing expeditions. I know I am supposed to be nice here but I do not see the same professionalism here that I saw with my prior experiences. There was also a third interview that I did. On the occasion of SL's tenth anniversary I interviewed with a reporter for one of the larger online Tech magazines. At my request my name was withheld but I was definitely quoted in the article. And just as a closing note I am no longer interested in participating in any studies. Sadly the Martian has been slowly turning into an old grump.

Are you on Mainland or an Estate. I haven't taken time to check profiles but in the span of a week I have had twenty "Avatars" visit my region. I haven't asked my Estate owner if they have banned bots from the Estate but the fact I an seeing Bonnie Bots indicates to me they haven't. This is a Sailing Estate so I am not out in the middle of nowhere.

And as you read that article there is a huge red flag that James should have called them out on. "When the attacks first began, the Green Lantern Core helped them secure the Camp. Their lead officer.....built a security script that scans the identity of avatars who visit, and showed the Better World owners how to read it." By 2006 visitor trackers were so ubiquitous there would have been no need to "build" one. Its an example of the self-aggrandizing behavior they engaged in.

This looks to me as trying to circumvent LL's policies. A cute way to get around 'no build' restrictions. LL should nip this in the bud.

Not only self righteousness but self adulation. I remember them trying to turn a brief chat with a Governance team member into saying that they had Linden Lab's endorsement. Their (former? I am not sure) leader is still active in SL. A very sad loss indeed. I remember when Ebbe became CEO he posted in SLU first. Several of us had to go and poke him about the fact Linden Lab had a perfectly good Forum over here. But perhaps he went there first because people could speak openly there about their concerns. They could raise issues that normally would have been quickly moderated here.

I need to add that I would be negligent to not mention Beq's Blog. Along with Henri Beauchamp I believe they understand how we use the Viewers and our needs better than any one at the Lab ever has. http://beqsother.blogspot.com/

For my money Inara Pey is the best there is. https://modemworld.me/ When it comes to the technological side of SL she provides great summaries of the various User Groups meetings as well as covering Viewers and Viewer updates. She is excellent at presenting just the facts and clearly states when something is her opinion. When it comes to things to do and places to see she is an excellent source for that also. As far as fashion bloggers go they are a dime a dozen. I will keep the rest of my opinion of them to myself

I do seek out Mom & Pops. But I am also land locked. I like my baked potato with butter and ranch sour cream dip. Next time I make chili I will have to try it over a baked potato.

Oh, and for the record I have never found any where in the States that can do a proper fish and chips. This is a great sadness for me.

From the third party viewer directory page from the labs wiki pages: I will use this as a starting place. When Phoenix arose from the ashes there were a number of people who salivated like rabid dogs at the idea of busting Phoenix for violating the TOS again, always looking for an inkling of a violation. After all these years there are still a few of them around. One of them is still semi active in this Forum. If He/She catches a whiff that you have anything to do with the Firestorm Project they will mute you and block you from all their properties. Crazy if you were to ask me. Personally I hated the so called Viewer Wars. Mainly perpetuated by a bunch of Drama Lamas. My personal take has always been that the best Viewer is the one that works best for you. Just that simple. My preference is Firestorm. I simply love having at my fingertips many of the features which others have mentioned. As far as the Official Viewer is concerned CHUI (Communications Hub User Interface) is still the show stopper for me. For the life of me I can not get used to it. It is a clutz-mobile for me. While it was still in Beta, shortly before it was let loose in the wild, I gave CHUI a test drive and wrote a review in these Forums. That prompted many others to test it and the result was 15 to 20 JIRA's as I recall. While a few things did get corrected sadly the Lab was too far into the project to fix some of the design flaws that were pointed out at that time. But for better or worse CHUI still drives me crazy.

Because I am a Firestorm Viewer user. The Firestorm viewer is the one who is doing the cropping for "me". What you said was "If Linden Lab feels it is fantastic to halve people's user profile images and crop them into stamps there is no point in bug reporting this," and if Chaser is a FS DEV then it looks like they are trying to do their best to deal with it.

Then first of all why the accusatory subject title if it is a Linden Lab problem?? Have you checked using the Official Second Life Viewer? Is the problem occurring with Linden Lab's Viewer? If it is then JIRA's need to be filed with LL. If it is not happening with the SLV then a JIRA needs to be filed with Firestorm so they can fix it in their viewer. If I encountered the problem I would be filing JIRA's but since I haven't I can't. I must have too much time on my hands. I just randomly looked at thirty profiles from my friend list PLUS I am a fully certified Profile Perv and I have not encountered this issue since 6.6.14 was released. The Devs both at Linden Lab and Firestorm can not fix a problem if they can not duplicate it on their computers. This is why the person having a problem needs to file the JIRA. Then they are able to ask the needed questions so they are then able to duplicate and fix the problem. This is simply the way things are.

And what is wrong with us wanting to correct Linden Lab's mistake? Why acquiesce to their mistake when it is possible for us to correctly size our Avatars with a 1:1 proportion in harmony with the world's measurement in meters?
