  1. When new systems are implemented things often go wrong, in the RL workplace too. I know it happens in my workplace. Systems go down, you get freezes, slowness. It's annoying but nobody would ever go and abuse the IT team for it. We show respect, we show patience and understanding. If people acted the way some do on this forum there would be serious thoughts of misconduct counseling or even dismissal where I work. If thing don't go smoothly in SL I still lean strongly towards my gratitude that it exists at all, and I can do something I love and get paid a little for it. I still made money today, despite all this drama. The good outweighs the bad by a mile - not even comparable.
  2. You need to work on your skills. If you make furniture you really need to work on your textures and learn how to make sculpted parts. You need to look at what is out there already and then do better or equal quality at a lower price. In my honest opinion, no amount of marketing is going to work for you at this stage.
  3. OMG :smileysurprised:*picturing Ai with a giraffe* :smileytongue: hehehe
  4. Funny how many people feel the need to say 'it's not my thing' before commenting. I'd like to see someone pop up and say 'yeah, that's my thing' ROFL :smileyvery-happy:
  5. I think monthly deviations are more likely when you have a small inventory. You don't have enough items to offset ups and downs in particular items. My monthly sales are on an uptrend but from one month to the next it doesn't deviate that much. I think it's because of the size of my inventory, and if some items are down in one month then others are up to offset it.
  6. someone flagged yours and brought it to LLs attention. If you see others getting away with it then flag it. That's how it works.
  7. Stang Zeplin wrote: Should you need more information about mesh feel free to contact me Stang Zeplin, hopefully I can help you discover the limitless possibilities you can achieve with Mesh! Stang, very informative post, But I suggest you start off by taking the Mesh IP Tutorial to become 'mesh enabled'. All your knowledge will be no good unless you do this tutorial. How do I know you haven't already done it? Because I looked at your items on the MP, and you are obviously unaware of the IP rules.:smileytongue:
  8. I can only go on my own experience. I've tried listing enhancements. I even took out a listing enhancement because some people here swore by them. They didn't work for me. I experienced no significant increase in sales for that item or overall. My partner, who was very pro-listing enhancements, finally gave up on them as a useless waste of money. He hated to admit that I was right. I tend to lean towards Toy's argument here. People looking at the enhancements probably are more interested in clothes, skins and other eye catching pretty things.. And in my case, I really don't think it's product presentation, because we are doing well enough with our marketplace sales. I do remember though that listing enhancements were more effective in Xstreet, and that probably had to do with seeing 8 images at once, which made it more interesting to watch.
  9. Yes Andy, mesh is objects. It will be a new way to build, like sculpting only much better :matte-motes-big-grin:
  10. So many first time posters in this thread. I think they are reading 'Support on the Marketplace' and are posting general help enquiries. Interesting.
  11. My partner and I have different skills. We usually make everything ourselves, except animations. We don't advertise and don't need to. Our items are used and displayed outdoors. So, in effect, every customer is advertising our products for us. And with new products, people will explore our store in SLM or inworld - so if the item is good it takes off quickly. I make our textures. Sometimes my own pictures and sometimes from texture download sites. Working with a partner has huge advantages. It really gets too much for one person as your business grows. And the best part is having another person's opinion on something new.
  12. It annoys me too. We asked for this fix a long time ago and they said we would have it. But now they are concentrating on DD and I doubt anything else will be improved before that's implemented. The only time it wouldn't work to take you directly to the listing is when you're using bulk edit, where many listings are being changed at the same time. I never or hardly ever use bulk edit. Does it even still exist? Well, that was Brodesky's reason for taking you to Manage Inventory instead of direct to the listing. Oh I just remembered, I now use the back arrow to go back to my listing when it is re-edit.
  13. It's a personal choice that I respect. Whatever works for you and whatever you're comfortable with. I like reading the email, discusssing it with my partner and deciding how important it is for me to log in and sort it out. Not all IMs require logging in straight away to respond. Especially with some failed deliveries, where I can simply hit redeliver and problem solved. Sometimes I'm at rl work and I can ask my partner to log in and talk to the person, if necessary. So to do this I need to know what the issue is. I very often go back to the email junk folder (where these messages end up) to read the message again, like if I need to get a name. It's my short term record. And my profile says IM me in the first line. I use hotmail and I've never had a problem, and if I have I am blissfully unaware of it. I don't have anything against notecards. They are just not as convenient for me.
  14. I don't understand why it's such a big deal when DD is just around the corner. Then you can use your magic boxes as farm fertiliser. So just forget about how, who and why. It's not important anymore. And it won't ever be solved or improved. We will live with this until we don't have to anymore. I would suggest that Josh save his wrists and fingers for when DD comes. Then he can join the party and compete with everyone else, and be drowned out by the hundreds of long and repetitious posts/shouts/ speeches/ essays/ novels on the subject. I have my stockpile of popcorn ready :smileytongue:
  15. count me among those that have spent their lindens and not received the product. I spent 1995 lindens, have sent a notecard to the creator, and have submitted a support ticket. We'll see if I ever get the product. I think a redelivery button would be a positive application.
  16. Chelsea Malibu wrote: I believe you are asking if you can delete your inactive items in the marketplace to which the answer is no unless you remove the magic box from where it's rezzed. Maybe you mean remove the inactive items from the magic box, and then do a sync magic box with marketplace, which would make the item unavailable and you would then get a delete button.
  17. My partner and I were both forced to get new magic boxes recently. Everything always worked in the past, except for the occasional failed delivery. Then his magic box stopped synchronising new items with Marketplace, and so he bought a new one and set it up on another sim and the new item worked there. Now he has 2 boxes. He seems to think that the magic box reached its limit, but this can't be true as some people have 100s of items and he only has about 80. Then a couple of weeks later the same thing happened to me. My magic box refused to work with any new items added to it, and I had to do the same. We each have under 100 items, and I have no idea why it just stopped for both of us, maybe even at the same time, except I only used mine later. Anyway, I just thought that was interesting and here seemed a good place to talk about it. In my experience, failed deliveries they don't seem to be magic box related. Sometimes I have a burst of them and then I go weeks with perfect deliveries. If it was the magic box I'd think it would be more consistent. Anyway, I won't find out because my magic box just gives up on any additional items at a certain point.
  18. Gadget Portal wrote: And maybe it's me, but I have this one pet peeve... An attachment isn't a vehicle. It's an attachment. Vehicles are 32 prims. If I can't do it in 32 prims or less, I generally rethink my design. Or I start sculpting. Or both. As for an attachment not being a vehicle? I have a sailing ship where 30 prims is the ship and about 50 prims is an attachment. You jump in it and you sail off. The attachment is simply a way of getting around the 32 prim limit for physical vehicles. It's a tool, like sculpting. If you can drive, sail or fly in an item it is a vehicle. How it's built is not an issue. Look up the definition of the word vehicle.
  19. Gadget Portal wrote: Is it me, or does it seem like the vehicles category needs to be futher sub-categorized? For example... Looking for boats under the VEHICLE category, I find thousand prim, non-drivable yachts, for example. Sure, it's technically a water vehicle in RL, but should it be under the vehicle category in SL? There is a category for non driveable boats. If these are under Vehicles they are under the wrong category. Non driveable boats should be under Home and Gardens - Decor - Static/Display Vehicles - Boats.
  20. Looking at your store, you're doing quite well with new reviews, so your stuff must be selling well. From my own experience, it's normally the very good sellers that end up with new reviews here and there. So smile :smileyhappy:, you're doing well enough!
  21. I just reviewed an item and it shows up straight away when you refresh the listing page. But when I go back to order history the item still says 'Review Product'. This is a fault. Once you have reviewed a product that link should disappear or it should say 'Product has been reviewed'. The only way to know you have already reviewed a product is to click on the link again. So you don't know which items you have aleady reviewed when looking at your order history. In Xstreet it showed you a list of items that still needed reviewing. I haven't found that the lack of ratings has had any impact on my sales. Customers don't seem to care about the lack of ratings when they choose to buy something. I don't mind the system the way it is. I used to find it all a bit stressful, not knowing when the next bad rating would be dumped on my item and drag it down - just when you're feeling good about all those 5 stars someone dumps a 1 star on you. :smileysad:
  22. I believe the Marketplace is having issues at the moment. I can't list an item at all. It's been like this for a while now. This could be the reason for your difficulties. It probably won't get fixed until people come back to work on Monday.
  23. Chelsea Malibu wrote: By far, the best selling products are clothing and it seems if you are not in fashion, you are only going to get about 10% of the traffic interested in the first place. It's a tough one to say as each product is different but in the end, yes, they can be a very costly way to not get sales unless you make hair, skins, shoes or clothing. It's almost as if they need two sites, one for Fashion and one for everything else. I believe this is the situation for homepage listing enhancements. When you watch those items scroll by it is the clothing, shoes, skins, hair etc that grab your attention. You see something attractive and you're tempted to click on it. In this way homepage listing enhancements work for window shoppers and impulse buyers - which suits fashion accessories. For most other items, customers need to be in the market for that particular item, and then they would generally go straight to search....not sit there watching the homepage enhancements scroll by. People don't usually impulse buy items like boats, houses, animations, textures etc. They come to the marketplace specifically for these. Category listing enhancements would probably work better for these items.
  24. Why not use Phoenix to save on upload fees. 90% of my uploads are temp files for testing only. When you sculpt it's practically essential not to pay for uploads. I upload and test with every small change I make in blender. As for paying for listing enhancements....well, I've already expressed my views on that :matte-motes-sour:. But some people swear by them.
