  1. I like to stop these emails..... I do not want them anymore. how must i do that please can someone help me greetings See here for an answer I recently gave on how to manage email notifications for these blogs and forums: http://blogs.secondlife.com/message/407448#407448
  2. Thanks for the update. Makes sense to have the maturity levels matching those inworld and surprised it wasn't done long ago actually Just out of interest, how does this actually work for teens using the marketplace? Is there some logic behind the scenes that recognises they have a teen account and will therefore only let them view 'general' content and not mature or adult?

What happened started on Jan 10: http://blogs.secondlife.com/message/565107#565107 Your story started on Jan 11: http://blogs.secondlife.com/thread/54715?start=0&tstart=0 So please don't feel bad. I feel bad for you that now you are missing parts to your story. Kelinda! And your forum avatar! hehehe Now you are just trying to confuse us!
  4. Welcome to the mad house Rod (and I mean that in the nicest possible way!) I'm really looking forward to the direction you take SL in. You seem very keen. I really hope that last. You are probably going to hear lots of varied comments, complaints (and even some occasional praise from cheery, positive souls such as myself!) about SL. I'm personally really excited with what I've seen going on with SL over the last couple of months and am looking forward to a great 2011, so don't let me down! I'm just going to sound off one word of caution. As a man who's had lots of experience in business, I'm sure you know this already, but I'm gonna say it anyway. You'll also probably get lots of people saying "Listen to us! Communicate with us!" which is entirely right. Do listen to us and communicate with us. However - and here is my note of caution - be cautious of assuming that those who shout the loudest are the majority view. There can be a tendency with SL residents to be split between those who shout loudly here on places like the forums, and those who happily get on with life inworld. Try to get as varied an opinion as you can from all types of SL users, not just those who shout loudly here! With that said - have a fantastic time getting to know SL and I really look forward to hearing more from you soon. Already followed you on Twitter so hopefully see you tweeting too (side note - some SL residents also dislike the idea of SL staff / users being involved in external sites like Twitter / Facebook etc, but I disagree. There is nothing wrong with making social networking work alongside SL and I love Twitter, although I'm less keen on Facebook for a variety of reasons). Anyway - I'll stop waffling now and offer you a welcoming slice of cheddar (I have a random cheese obsession and always talk about cheese in the forums - you'll get used to it! ) ETA: You'll also probably see some shouts of "Scrap Viewer 2!" Don't. Just make it even better and do all you can to make it meet the varying needs of diverse SL users. You'll never make the perfect viewer for everyone of course, but making it flexible enough to meet most needs and most will be happy. I'm personally liking Viewer 2 more and more with each new iteration. I'm aware that, sadly, one of the key devs on the viewer development (Esbee) is about to leave, so I hope you are able to find someone as good as she was to help continue the work on Viewer 2 improvement.
  5. Storm.Clarence wrote: I agree with your words. I was concerned from the beginning something like this would happen. I wish I would have admonished KeliInden at that time. I am sad this has happened, but I hope your advice works. I would heed your words if I were her. I kinda wish I'd said something to her too because I saw it coming. I didn't want to come across as though I was telling her what to do though! Still, I am still confident that it will get sorted and we'll have out Keli K back. Storm.Clarence wrote: @Keli K do whatever you have to do to get back - you are missed. I'll second that. I honestly think you are best just being honest with LL, Kelli. Saying sorry and promising it was an innocent mistake and I'm sure they'll take Keli K off hold
  6. Sole Demina wrote: By the way, is there something as "first offence" and "parole" in LL world ? I know I've been watching too many US TV series but still... In a manner of speaking, that's what Keli K's administrative hold is. Now she needs to go and beg forgiveness from the 'parole board' so she can be released. I fear Keli L is almost certainly destined for a life in solitary confinement though!
  7. Jaen Albatros wrote: I don't understand why Keli K is banned though....just ...guilty by association is it?? She's not banned, she's on administrative hold. The distinction is important. I, for one, am glad that LL block other accounts from the same user when they take action against a particular account. Yes, in this particular case it's unfortunate, but as a general rule its exactly the right thing to do (what's the point of banning a griefer, for example, if they can just go and use one of their alts straight away?) In that respect it's not so much "guilty by association" as "guilty by being the exact same person". Anyway - Keli K is only on administrative hold and I'm relatively confident it will all be sorted out and she'll be back soon. If I were Keli what I would do is this. Contact LL again and say something to the effect of "I was stupid I know. I created the Keli LInden account just for a giggle and I even put in my forum profile that I was not really a Linden . I never created it with any intention to cause grief. I shouldn't have done it though and I apologise. Now please can I have my 'normal' account back from administrative hold. "
  8. Nathaniel Scorpio wrote: I've always enjoyed pushing red buttons... I'm soooooo not even going to give you an opening to take that any further .... Oh wait ... 'Give you an opening' ... you are gonna run with that ain't you?!
  9. Gypsy Quixote wrote: Well, first of all ... I love Keli Kyrie, her humor has been much needed and appreciated here and inworld. However, when I first saw kelilinden appear it was kind of like someone saying "Hey lookie everybody, I'm gonna push this button that we all know we shouldn't push!" At the same time, it exposed a flaw in the system that we all knew was there. So in a small way I applaud her for taking one for the team so to speak, but of course the outcome was most predictable. I'm pretty sure Keli will be back in some form, she seemed to like it here and made many friends. Any news LiveReport? I don't like it when people just reply to a post with "This!" but .. ummm ... "This!" (P.S. Never press the big red button that says "do not press" no matter how tempting it is!)
  10. I still don't get why some people get so uptight about being able to connect SL to Facebook. I have no issues about others finding out who I am....its not like I have anything to hide or have anyone to catch me cheating on them with an SL pixel. The way I see it, the only ones who feel the need to hide in SL are either RL cheaters, criminals, crazy people or sex offenders. So yeah, great feature, the whole Social Network thing. Kudos. That's an unfair generalisation. There are a lot of legitimate reasons for not wanting to use Facebook. I personally never intend to have a Facebook account although I'm a happy Twitter user. I do agree with you that it's nothing to get uptight about as ... and this is the important point ... it's all about choice! Want to link with FB - you can. Don't want to - that's fine too! A lot of what LL are doing lately is all about choice, and that is great!
  11. FJ, you are still one of the best communicators at the lab. Thank you for this post. In addition to facebook (ugh), Twitter, and LinkedIn, please consider Plurk and Flickr links. Heck, I'd also love a Snapzilla link, but I'm likely dreaming there! Now, if you don't mind, I'm off to add a group or two... Flickr link would be great. As would a link to popular blog sites such as Blogger \ Wordpress etc. Youtube too for that matter - I'm sure machinimists with their own Youtube channel would love that
  12. Cool! All sounds very promising One thing I'd be really interested to know regarding groups: While the increase to 42 is great, I've always thought there is more sense in having "social" and "advertising" groups as a web-based system that interfaces with the servers to deliver messages etc. Much in the same way that some third-party group and mailing list services work. Inworld groups would still be required for land management etc, but less groups would be needed. Has this been considered and are you able to comment on it? Thanks!
  13. @ChuckBaggett I've heard it discussed as a longer-term possibility, but I haven't got confirmation. I like that kind of consistency myself, though. Re: associating accounts, more details on what you mean? I've seen that depend on the specific platform app. On your my.secondlife.com profile page, when you edit your profile, you have near the bottom of the profile editing page I'm wondering what adding these does, and whether there's any complications resulting if you add the same facebook, linkedin, and twitter accounts to multiple SL accounts. It just adds a little 'button' to your profile page that, when clicked, takes you to the relevant account. Look at mine, for example, where I have linked my Twitter account: https://my.secondlife.com/suella.ember See the little Twitter icon on the right under 'Elsewhere'. Not sure if it would complicate matters adding those links to multiple accounts, but I assume it would work just fine
  14. I assume that process simply works on the basis of the date of birth you enter at sign up. If you are entering a DoB that makes you 16+ then it should work? Are you sure you are entering your date of birth correctly?
  15. Myrddin Wylie wrote: Funny how only the ladies know what's going on, LOL That's life for you! Incidentally - all the ladies here are looking sexy with their new profile photos! I only just noticed that everyone seems to have updated them! @Mondy - Thanks for that info about Ctrl+Alt+F1 not allowing you to chat. I wasn't aware that there used to be a fullscreen alternative that still allowed you to chat. I only ever use Ctrl+Alt+F1 when I'm making vids (and hence don't want to see chat on my screen!)
  16. I can confirm that CTRL+ALT+D does still work in Viewer 2.4 to show/hide the advanced menu. However, the 'togle full screen' option does not seem to be there. The important thing to remember though is the CTRL+ALT+F1 shortcut to toggle fullscreen. This still works in 2.4 Another cool shortcut to know is ALT+SHIFT+H to hide and show HUDS. Those two shortcuts will get you a wonderfully clear and immersive view, perfect in paticular for making videos
  17. Everything you have done there should work just fine. Have you checked to make sure that your email system isn't filtering them to a spam /junk folder for some reason? If it is mark one of them as 'not spam' and all future emails from the SL address should go to your inbox.
  18. Some of us take great pride in the appearance of our AV's. I have worked with other viewers and have found Viewer 2 to be easier to use, but I really like the benefit of second attachement points in viewers such as Phoenix and the late Emerald. Is it possible to created an update with Viewer 2 to give us the benefit of these additional attachement points? Viewer 2 has had mutiple attachments for some time To add something extra to an attachment point that you already have something on, right click the item you want to add from inventory and choose 'add'. Viewer 2 also has 'multi wearables' meaning you can wear multiple clothing items on each layer too. I'm not sure if Phoneix have changed over yet, but their use of multiple attachments was a bit of a 'cludge' and they appear to be floating at the hip for users of other viewers! Now that the official viewer has multiple attachments coded properly, Phoenix should switch over to that so that everyone sees them correctly (which I think I read they intend to do).
  19. Cool! Particularly looking forward to seeing the auto updater (really happy you guys are developing that as It's a bit of a pain downloading new updates regularly, and I'll definitely be allowing auto updates!) and the graphics improvements (I've been having a few issues with antialiasing and snapshots so fingers crossed it might be fixed) Keep up the good work Snowstorm boys and girls!
  20. Metabolt is a text only client for SL that you could use and it's on the Viewer Directory
  21. Irene Muni wrote: No points. But for your perfect description you have win a kiss from me. Open your RL window, the kiss is flying looking for you. I'll take a heartfelt kiss over some meaningless points any day of the week, especially from a Spanish beauty!

  23. DARNAK Barony wrote: Wonder what kind of future do blocked avatars have after all? They go to a mysterious virtual island. An island where strange things happen. Where polar bears appear and strange flashes of light see them travelling through time. There are 'other' avatars there too. Avatars that came long before them. Some of those 'other' avatars take some of the new arrivals. This mysterious virtual island is also inhabited by two ancient avatars locked in a perpetual battle with one another. One is protecting the island, the other wants to destroy the island so that he can leave. The protector of the island wants to recruit one of the newly blocked avatars as the islands new protector. The story goes that, one day, he will find the island's new protector and peace will once again reign for the blocked avatars as they are finally able to accept their fate and move on from their virtual limbo to the next realm that awaits them.
  24. Try clicking the "sync marketplace with magic boxes" button under "manage inventory". Wait a couple of minutes then refresh the page. This should resync everything and you should then get a 'delete' option ext to the entry for the sound file. I've heard people saying this doesn't always work for them though, although it has always worked correctly for me thus far. Alternatively, try re-rezzing the magic box with the should file in it if you still have it. Then delete the file from the box and do the sync process described above.
