  1. If it helps a bit more, I also use the Alchemy viewer. The SL, Alchemy, and Genesis viewers are my viewers of choice these days, depending on what I want to log in for, but I've used others over the years too. Correction: I should have said 18 years in SL, not 17 years.
  2. No. It takes them time to incorporate the changes. That's all. I do realise that that's one of your stock offerings, so I won't get into it
  3. I do, yes. And I also use normal viewers when I want to do more in SL than Speedlight can manage. Right now, for instance, I am logged in with the SL viewer and I have an alt logged in with the Genesis viewer. So I'm not disqualified at all . Also, after 17 years in SL, I think I can qualify anyway In fact, I use various 'normal' viewers, depending on what I want to do.
  4. So to sum up the recent posts in this thread, TPVs are always significantly behind the times, the LL viewer does everything that most users want or need, and most of the so-called extras that TPVs have are nothing more than breaking out things that the LL viewers always have, making some things that most people neither use nor need easier to find whilst complicating usability.
  5. You must have been very unlucky. Every year I put up a small decorated Christmas tree that an SL friend sent me from New York (to here in the UK). Even here in the forum, I gave my phone number to a friend without any repercussions at all. It was for a specific purpose which soon became unnecessary, so she didn't use the number at all.
  6. You could bring another discussionbot in, a brother maybe, and discuss it between yourselves
  7. I was commenting on the post that suggested they wouldn't be found associated with stores. I meant that many store owners would use them as they always did, because that was the very purpose for most bots. Whether or not they are actual bots or legal avatars logged in with thin clients wasn't the point. I do know that stores still use traffic avatars, actual bots or otherwise.
  8. No I don't go shopping Traffic bots are normally hidden, usually high up in the sky, so you wouldn't see them.
  9. Stores were one of the main reasons for using traffic bots, and I don't see any reason why that would have changed.
  10. Absolutely correct. They are robots, and robots are controlled by programmes, either external or external-internal hybrids; i.e. they are scripted (programmed) agents. I know a bunch of agents that are logged in 24/7 just for the traffic count, and I'm certain they are logged in with multiple very light viewers (Radegast), which means they are not bots because no programme controls them. They have to be logged in and placed by hand. They don't use Speedlight but that's an even lighter viewer that can be used to log multiple avatars in 24/7. They stay logged in even when the computer is turned off. Such avatars are not bots either. The word 'bots' doesn't describe what it used to describe, but we don't have a word that means what people usually mean - except 'scripted agent'. Perhaps people should start using that term when it's what they mean.
  11. Very good post. It makes perfect sense that a person's 'main' is the one that s/he mainly uses, regardless of when it was created compared to others. There is no sense in which the word 'main' can be used to mean the first account.
  12. I'm not aware that anyone thinks that alts are bad. I have about 70 of them. Many were created as traffic bots to improve search rankings, and many were created for their Picks, which went a long way to improving search rankings. Nobody ever thought there was anything wrong with alts being used for those purposes, so I've no idea why the question came up.
  13. Always wear a smile. That'll cover a multitude of sins - if not much else
  14. I have one of those. All it cost is a one-off payment of £5. Nothing more to pay ever.
  15. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).
  16. A bit of history trivia just for the sake of it. Many many moons ago, back in the days of yore, when the SL search was done using a Google search engine (the GSA), Picks were used to game the search rankings. The reason was that each Pick became an html link to the place that was picked, and links were one of the two most powerful factors for determining the rankings in the Google system. Many stores actually paid people for placing the stores in the users' Picks. I didn't pay people for it. Instead I created a load of alts for that purpose. It's one of the reasons why I have around 70 alts. LL ditched the Google search system and used the free Apache search engine instead, but I'd lost interest by then and I've no idea if Picks continued to carry weight or not. They may still be using the Apache system. I've no idea. But, if Picks still have any effect at all on search rankings, LL isn't likely to increase the number of them.
  17. 4times Nitely I used it as a sexbed demo model bot. One female customer spoke to it saying, "You wish" lol.
