  1. "In these modern times of tattoo layers, its about time someone came up with some wrinkle / lines tattoos that can be worn on any skin, they would probably be popular." Best idea i've read on this forum ever. You could use any basic skin you like and then add scars, black eyes, wrinkles, beauty marks, etc, etc, etc. This way the odds of bumping into someone who has the same appearance are very small indeed. And especially for roleplay this would be awesome. You can get a little older every couple of years, you can show signs of fighting or illness, hunger and poverty but also get healthy again.
  2. We're not twins, we're clones. Made in a secret laboratory somewhere. And we do sleep less then 30 minutes a night!
  3. Thanks for the tips. I wear Brazen women at the moment, but either I am a pretty lady with just 2 wrinkles or I am a granny. Also not very photorealistic, so smooth. Pulse skins are all too pretty, very model like to me, at least what I see on the site. I LOVE Ina Cenaur skins, I've seen them at The Globe Shakespeare theatre, proper character skins, very realistic. But again it seems you are either a Elizabethan woman about to drop dead from the plague or again a pretty model. I may go for her Olivia Skin though, it looks like a woman who has lived a little but isn't 83 years old just yet. Same problem with Aimesi, Anna is too pretty and the other options seem to be granny. As if there are no women between 30 and 60. The PK skins are AMAZING, very good. Especially the men (as is often the case) have many different ages to display and often more realistic, gritty, "lived" skin. But no European skins as far as I can see and I am as European as they get. Compared to me a bottle of milk looks like it has a nice tan. MrSigmund Fride has nice skins but as far as I can see it is again Models Or grannies, nothing inbetween. Or did I miss a few? Maybe I should just scan my RL head
  4. I am a woman in my late 30s, I want my avatar to look like me. I am not very vain, I never felt the need to look like some sort of barbie of model. And I spend all my time roleplaying a poor war widow in 1920s Berlin who works day and night. So I was wondering if there are any realistic skins for people who want to look real, like real people you see every day in the street, not the magazines. Just real people with a few wrinkles, perhaps a mark, perhaps a little tired. To me it seems skins in SL are eather too pretty or too icky. I found a skin for a elderly lady, it comes in several states of aging and I can either be pretty with 2 wrinkles or old and grey. In RL I am somewhere inbetween! Any tips?
  5. Hey those are my working stockings! They need some serious darning. But I was talking about RL, like Mila I dress vintage in RL, 24/7. Here I am, darning stockings.
  6. "Plus, seamed nylon stockings are awesome." Pffff, my silk seamed stockings are much more awesome.
  7. I rarely change my outfit, I sometimes wear the same for months. And this is me at the moment, what I wear most of the time at the place where I spend most of my time, Der Keller, 1920s Tanzlokal in Berlin.
  8. I don't remember where I saw this and don't remember what it was called. Can't find it anywhere on search! Someone is selling complete horisons, you get a huge platform with hills all around. Very pretty and there are lots of different types and styles. But where can I get them?
  9. Thank you Torley, I'm delighted that people are happy with my tip. Nice to get compliments from The Torley!
  10. There are only a few things in the world you need to be naked for, this isn't one of them. It is a very basic little avatar change, just make sure you save your avatar before and after with different names.
  11. Yes it was also on the old forum, but I think we need to move some of the more useful topics to this new one
  12. I enjoy "sleeping" in Berlin. It took me a while to figure out how I could close my eyes while doing so.People sleeping with their eyes wide open always looks a bit weird!I often notice other people still sleeping with their eyes open so I was wondering if perhaps it might be nice to share how I got my avatar to close her eyes.If there are other, easier options, or huds, let us know! This is the way I figured out; -Go to the appearance editing window. -Before doing anything save your current appearance under the name 'awake'. -In the tab 'shape' select the button 'eyes'. -Set the 'eye size' and 'eye opening' to 0.-Tweak some of the other eye options to get the eyes "closed" just as you want them to look. -Your avatar's eyes should now be closed, or as good as avatars in SL can close them anyway. -Save this appearance under the name 'asleep'. Now every time you want to go to sleep simply double click the bodyshape 'asleep' in your inventory and 'awake' to wake up again. Not only is this fun for roleplay, satisfying to see when your avatar goes to bed but also fun for photos. And because the eyes still work, you get this funny "Rapid Eye Movement" effect.Poor avatar, I hope they have nice dreams ;)
  13. The perfect "happy hour" makes me smile. We have one every day at my club, it is small, often not very busy but there are always a few friends about. 1920s music sounds, couples dance the charleston and we just chat. Often we forget the roleplay and just talk about all sorts of subjects. I look around and see people who I call friends enjoying themselves, seein my club a bit like a RL pub, a place they visit every day. I smile and am just delighted with how this funny little thing I build turned into a community I'd never even imagined possible. That, and sailors.
  14. And the other way around? Can I have all my normal controls and buttons while being in mouselook?
  15. Sometimes SL has trouble finding your clothes/skin, or something you're wearing is confusing poor old LL. You can perhaps find a lag free area, somewhere high in the sky and just wait. But personally I have found that "resetting" your avatar works best. I use Phoenix viewer so I'm not sure how it is done in the viewer you may be using, but here is how I do it; At the top of your screen click Advanced>character>character tests> test female This will totally reset your avatar so make sure your outfit, skin and body are saved. You should see your self as the noob again but you're reset. If all goes well you can now start adding clothes, attachments, etc.
  16. We collected 30 pounds, not bad for a totally unprepared one evening only tip jar thingy. It will change lives, thank you!
  17. Thanks for the suggestion but it doesnt seem to be full region, real time or offworld.
  18. We have just opened our new current exhibition of the Von Hildesheim - Fordyce - Snatterton expedition to the Valley of the Kings artifacts in our museum in Berlin. An absolutely fantastic exibition made by our tenant Herr Clarrington. Come and have a look, just remember our 1920s dresscode.
  19. Our 1920s famous glamorous women exhibition has now closed but soon we will have a exhibition with Egyption artifacts in our museum and we still have the little gallerie in the bad side of town that sells modern (1920s) art. Our museum has a hall with temporary exhibitions so anyone interested in showing some nice (1920s suitable) stuff is welcome to contact us.
  20. I know, but being from the 1920s, to me gay just means happy, as it should And being from 1920s Berlin I see every day in our sim that for those people the good old days were very good indeed. Berlin in the 20s was well known as being a liberal heaven for everyone with a more 'unusual' lifestyle. Things happened there that would make many modern gay people living in some of the most liberal countries today blush!
  21. I prefer to dance in our little dark smelly backstreet dance "hall". Here is a photo, looking in from the street. It is small, the beer is lukewarm but it has the best crowd, lovely 1920s dances and of course music from that golden age.
  22. My pleasure! If I had more time I would have done something bigger! Maybe next year! This time we'll stick to tips! Er, ewww that sounds icky.
  23. Tonight in the UK it is "Red Nose Day", Comic relief. Collecting money for charity. Just in case you have a Comic Relief donation tip jar somewhere, share it here. http://www.comicrelief.com/ Best thing is to donate trough the site and directly of course. But... Where in SL can we donate money towards this charity? I have a tip jar in 1920s Berlin, my tips tonight go to comic relief. You don't have to wear 20s gear as the tip sign is at the teleport area.
  24. I hate summer, truly hate it and never understood why people love it. Heat, sun, noise, short nights, ewww. So, just like in RL, summer will be spend with curtains closed trying to avoid going outside. But in spring, I just popped out one afternoon for a picknick and listen to some music at the beach.
  25. It is simple. If you do something that someone else probably won't like you doing and it bothers them, it is very likely wrong. So when you find a house with security or locked doors, a house you can't just walk into, someone probably doesn't like you entering it and exploring every corner. In my sim we have the same rules as in RL, if we see you in someone elses apartment and their door is locked, we ask you to leave. If you are caught again you risk being ejected/banned, or if you are roleplaying a burgler you can do time in our police station cell! The bed has no blankets!
