  1. Stand on a flat surface, a big flat prim will do. Rez a prim directly on top of it, so you can be sure it is flat on the same surface as you're standing on. Right click and edit the kube. Make it phantom so you can stand "inside" it. Click the blue dot on the top and pul it up till it just covers the top of your head. The edit window will now tell you how tall this prim (and thus you) is, in centimeters.
  2. We have German language classes in our school in 1920s Berlin, a professional German language teacher gathers there two days a week. 1920s dresscode.
  3. I like the making money bit, I'm Dutch after all BUT I run my own company in RL and make more money in an hour then I can imagine myself making with a very very successfull shop
  4. I got a realistic scale avatar as soon as I realised how freakishly tall my avatar was and when I then started to build my sim I decided to go for semi real scale buildings. We have few rooms that are higher then 5 meters tall, often I build houses with two floors with 8 meter tall walls. The poor people sometimes even live in rooms that are 3.5 meters high.
  5. Berlin, the city that never sleeps! Mind you, I could try and make a photo in the other side of town but it is too dangerous there at night...
  6. Yes The measuring picture at our sim is pretty perfect. But it would be nice to have a script in SL that could tell people.
  7. This too is an old topic from the old forum if I'm not mistaken. But because it is such an importat subject, I thought I'd move it over to the new forum. So... it is pretty tricky to find out how tall your avatar really is. The avatart editor gives some sort of measurement and there are a few measure devices out there, but these generally all count the invisible box around avatars, the bounding box. I've found that the only real way to find out how tall your avatar is, is by creating a (phantom) prim box that is as tall as your avatar is and check the measurements on that prim. Most measurement devices still give a height that is not close to the height you get with prim cube. Or has one finally been made that gives a very very accurate measurement?
  8. Lovely classical music! If I can get a orchestra together I would like to have a concert in our Odeon theatre
  9. The basic viewer should make it easy and fun for new people to get a very good taste of what is possible in SL. But that to me includes spending money and changing your avatar. New people don't (yet) care about building, tweaking the settings, owning land, etc, etc. But I think many will enjoy playing with their looks. If they can't change their look they will not even be allowed to visit some sims (including mine). There is a lot about SL you won't need during the first couple of days, weeks or for some even years. But pretty much everyone sooner rather then later wants to change their look and spend or make some money. It is one of the things that will draw people into SL, and if they can only do this by crossing that threshold to the scary advanced mode, they may be scared off. So I like the basic viewer idea, it should be the viewer everyone starts with, a very simple mode with very few buttons. But removing the ability to change your avatar and spend money is not a wise choice.
  10. I became a merchant because I wanted stuff nobody was/is selling so I had to make it myself. And then wondered if people would pay for them. I too glow and grin when someone tells me they love something I've made, I love seeing apartments decorated with my stuff but I also like the economical bit, the renting a shop, making sure its in a good spot, advertising, etc., the "playing shop" bit. BTW, Love your stuff fraulein Oh I just started sculpting and it is exploding my brain, so I'm even more impressed with your stuff now.
  11. I want to know as well, but mostly because it will also bring us larger prim sizes to play with
  12. If only more Lindens worked nights so we can get our bigger prims and mesh sooner
  13. You mean there really are people who get out of bed before noon?!
  14. mmmh that will be around 8 am RL time for me, I'll be asleep.
  15. It seems prim size is connected to the Mesh; [16:29] Andrew Linden: no changes to prim size until mesh (yes, 64m) [16:30] Maestro Linden: Yes, I think the plan is to allow 64m prims everywhere. But we probably don't want to flip the switch until encroachment is enabled on mainland http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Simulator_User_Group/Transcripts/2011.03.11 When is Mesh coming again?
  16. When I filed an urgent ticket, had several chats with live chat support and files AR's... I took LL over 6 months before they even replied... BUT recently I had another live chat and although I first talked to two pretty useless people I finally got one who could actually help me out. I am still very annoyed about LL suddenly stop giving live support for 24 hours. Even if they are often not very helpfull, it is at least nice to get some contact with anyone when you're in trouble.
  17. I enjoy roleplaying at the 1920s Berlin Project (duh ) and I love building stuff. Watching performances is fun as well, as long as they are historically themed.
  18. Anything 1920s-1940s is good. Don't like much else!
  19. Thanks, SLitechat works pretty good. Would be very very good thing for LL to add to SL themselves. Perhaps as part of the SL site.
  20. Thanks Torley! I wish I could make better snapshots, our flickr group has many more made by people who are better at that then me; http://www.flickr.com/groups/20sberlin/ Let me know if you want a tour. This sunday we have Relaxed Rules day, for 24 hours human avatars with 1920s outfits are not the only ones allowed to explore Berlin. So if you want to run around in one of your more amazing looks, feel free sunday
  21. We have a cinema in 1920s Berlin, BUT it is in the middle of our roleplay sim, so visitors must follow our dresscode and need to find it first. Mind you, it is on Unter Den Linden and we have maps and a taxi service, so that shouldn't be too hard. Our cinema is a reproduction of a 1920s one and plays original and legal movies from that era. At the moment you can come and enjoy Faust - Eine deutsche Volkssage from 1926. Very exciting and dramatic movie! We get new original movies every now and often, all 1920s. So a delight for everyone who loves classics.
  22. YES! That is the one I was looking for, landscapes unlimited, amazing. Thank you!
  23. Is there a good offworld messenger I can use? Bit like MSN messenger, some way for me to chat with people in SL while I am in RL. I used to have one but now I got a MacBook I need a new one.
