  1. Essentially: 1. Catwa released her head today for 1 linden. 2. SL Marketplace slowed to crawl then crashed for sometime. 3. Catwa then released her head to her main sim so you can go and buy it from a vendor. May be more. Revision in three: it's now in four locations inworld. 4. Catwa then proceeded to extend the 1linden promo from one day to two.
  2. Nope. Website was built for normal capacity. And unless you as a merchant notify them before hand of a release in the website and pay for their project expenses. There's no way the website is to blame. It is the store's responsibility. You can give the benefit of the doubt that she was dense, but you cannot blame LL for something they weren't communicated nor they could foresee. Nor should they.
  3. Well, a lot of us that are technology savvy and have experienced things in rl do kind of wonder about that. It's also happened in rl with a ton of promotions or introductions to new product. However, I'd like to somewhat give the benefit of the doubt. Though admittedly, my personal opinion is that she knew. And she used it as a publicity event. Because there's no such thing as bad publicity now a days.
  4. While I agree. I want to give some perspective from working as a BA in promotional projects. Unless you've experienced it once, you have no clue how your website can withstand massive number of people. Assume their website has a capacity for 10k in one moment, but then 20k try to enter it. And this is coming from someone that's worked with programmers and developers. I've had the experience so I tend to tell them, we got to move into doubling our limits. But even I have failed at times in capturing demand. Now, you got someone that probably isn't a developer, product manager, or business analyst that may not foresee all of this. And you get the Missoni in Target crash happening in sl. Or the HM Karl Lagerfeld crash in here. If you aren't paying attention to how things work outside an area, and most don't. You wouldn't have thought that putting a head for a linden would cause a marketplace crash.
  5. Were those the Session ones or the V-A-W ones? I thought Session didn't do Legacy. That has saddened me too much.
  6. Where do I begin? I'm a Second Life Ancient from the golden days of nightmares on bling. Born on a miserable Newbie island in 2007, only to rise from my birthing to become Aristocracy of the Grand-old Indie clubs. My wings were then cut, and I fell down into the debts of Cthulhu's belly and woke up from the dream. Alright, let's stop writing tales now. I'm Irina Forwzy (and yes that's my SL name). Born in April 2007, I've been in SL for a long, long, very long, alright looooong time. I've seen it all. Vintage sims that I will forever miss such as Starlust and Hotel Dare; to met people that have impacted my real world and I theirs. It's been a heck of a ride but I'll give you a few of my conquests in this Don Quixote-like ride: I've Roleplayed in old sims such as Perdition and Median (Midian?). I may have forgotten most of what I did, since I preferred characters that were over the top and eventually would either a) die off , or b) end up in jail. However, I still to this day miss that art and concentration that came from spending hours typing paragraphs to describe scenes I saw in my head. I've been an Indie Club owner. In the past I owned a small Indie club which was just an experiment with Decoration. Then I went ahead and with the help of a few friends opened Altitude. The club is still going strong and I do go there in occasion to visit it and feel ever proud of it. I've managed for a couple of months 44 Eaton. Which I greatly miss(ed). I've attempted to build furniture. This was prior to mesh, which scared quite frankly. Though I sometimes am curious about it. I've landscaped and decorated - this is something I love to do. I love to create a world, and create what I envision. If only I had a lot more, I'd make a whole continent. I'd also try to do a version of Rapture/Dark City city landscape (art deco, vintage). I've been a blogger and do sometimes take pictures which I end up editing and posting to flickr. Which isn't usually done. I know, I'm too lazy or something. Once in a Lifetime, I used to own a sim called Warm Springs. Which was my home, slash artistic expression. Now a days, I decorate my large skybox area as New Orleans (my picture has the backdrop). I got to admit I love the French Quarter way too much. What I like to do in SL now: Landscape, Decorating, Shop, hangout in Indie places, sight-see, joke around, and have fun with friends. 2020 was a year of exception of course due to RL circumstances which have caused me to relocate in rl. In RL: Born and raised in Southeast USA. I'm kind of a hipster, prep, romantic mix in my rl life. I love yoga, cookies, my two cats, music, European and American shows and films, and to get to know things. Very curious, and open to other cultures. I'm bilingual. I speak fluent English and Spanish. I'm also a Senior Business Analyst in a Projects team who works in a Forbes 200 in rl. That about it. And oh, yes... I'm writing the Great American novel and also daydreaming about actually becoming an entrepreneur (if I actually had the guts).
  7. Depends on how they coded it. In theory it could be, but if it reduces the stress on MP side, it is still equal stress on the delivery side. So one or the other could potentially slow down. But we shall see. Who knows, LL may have vetted/tested for large volumes of transactions. However, if large RL corporations sometimes miss changes when they have large events, and those are communicated through Upper Management across the org (or should be) imagine how it would be if it was someone within LLs community rather than the actual LL staff.
  8. Probably will. Unless they vetted for large volume of orders. Chances are that it may cause some level of crash. Think Target with their Designer labels that would cause the checkout to slooow down to a crawl then a stop, then a crawl. Realistically, I wouldn't put it past the marketplace to crash at 400 orders at the same exact second.
  9. I use Maitreya or Legacy. I have way-way-way (don't look into my endless abyss of an inventory) too much in Maitreya to stop using it. However, if I go nude I usually switch to Legacy.
  10. I didn't name it as the primary source but one that some users did mention. I do have some SL friends that noticed that and were commenting it to me. Now I'm not saying it was the main cause. The main cause was probably the normal one that drives RL restaurants and businesses that are in the top position to eventually become second to their competition a stale business model that isn't agile in nature and doesn't adapt to the changing end user wants or needs. The rumors do always impact a business (we can look at RL for examples of this as well). Assume the first two reasons are a percentage such as 10-20%, that one 1-5%, of the user base, the rest were through the promotions and eventual free head but were influenced by some of these items mentioned in my list. And yes, most of my friends left Catwa around the time that Genus and Lelutka pulled out their heads with newer features which also coincided around the DMCA time frame. Though I get it, correlation doesn't always equal causation. And none of my comments were in reference to putting Catwa out of business. Rather, they are opinions and views that I have been met with and also share. However, they no longer lead the rest of the heads and that's not just due to one reason, but rather to a combination of them. You have Lelutka leading at this point. Of course, give us a year and it may very well be Genus or a newer store none of us know.
  11. Then not as much. I made that joke, but ultimately we have to consider that last year was a very hard rl year. So some individuals that wanted to update, or produce items in sl, just couldn't. And vice-versa.
  12. Still have my Paper Couture and Donna Flora. As for skins: my Tres Blah and Fashionably Dead ones.
  13. By all accounts it looks like Belleza is the new TMP. Now it could possibly be that they are working in one large, uber-massive, update. That will never come because they want to cram so much in, that they'll just release it as a new body.
  14. Let's be frank though, most of SL's current clothes is skimpy though so it's not much of a difference. I'm always complaining about that with friends. It's rumpers, or underwear as clothes. So I don't see much of a difference there. Note, I can go for that at times. I just don't want to always look like that. Though I do admit, Kupra does add to the voluptuous, and bimbo ***** market. Not against the voluptuous if well proportioned because not all of us want to be skinny sticks (I say this as a somewhat skinny stick). But, the anti-gravity breasts is what gets me. As someone that's more of an rl, Madmen Joan body shape in rl. 5.9 and a size 14-16. I can tell you my boobs are not saluting the sun like that body's. lol.
  15. Because while you think it looks good. The system body is by no definition looks aesthetically pleasing toward the majority. At the time that we started playing SL and I'm over thirteen years old so I do recall the insanity, that was all that SL had to offer. And at that time, it was somewhat the latest technology (somewhat). So we grew attached to it. Overtime, we realized there were defects and limitations to how the Linden body was constructed. The lack of definition in the hands, feed, how the body contorts as you sit. The way clothes fit, the way the avatar looks is so much cleaner and nicer with mesh. I personally went for my Maitreya body because of that. I liked how it fixed most of the imperfections of Linden's creation, allowed me to create a more realistic avatar with my own shape. The mesh and the head both gave my aesthetics a more eye-friendly look. And I say this as someone that can break mesh, in example: edit a mesh face or body to the point where I almost completely change it from the original. To be frank, I was more reluctant to change my face than my body when mesh came out. The body, I understood. The faces were too limiting at that time, and they all looked the same with no modifications. However, with bento, and the ability to customize your head, and now BOM. It's basically a much better 2007-2010.
  16. You are talking about a brand that didn't update their TMP body for years, even though they promised an update. So not surprising. I'm still shocked I've gotten updates on my Legacy/Perky.
  17. Honestly, I think neither appliers nor BOM is a complex process. For both you have to search your inventory, for one you have to right-click and add, for the other you right-click and add, and lastly then press the button to apply the layer. It's just one click extra. That being said, there are individuals that just putting on clothes is a hassle, so you can't expect them to like either of these methods. Personally, I prefer BOM. Why? Because I can layer several different effects on my skin to add freckles, veins, imperfections, blush, highlight, and if I want then I can go for HD eyeshadow/lipstick. And sometimes it's nice to wear my old Tres Blah and FD skin just to troll.
  18. I have been lurking here because I am ambivalent about the head as my friend has probably noted from our Ims (waves at Laurel). However, I needed to make a comment about the Catwa market shifting to Genus and Lelutka. This I state from the point of view of someone that got into Catwa for a while, but never fully loved her head lines (though Kathy can be edited to the 10th of a degree). 1. Catwa's may have been leading the market but she tended to create the same type of heads and profiles. For the most part they all looked similar. Except for a couple here and there. Lack of diversity in shape made some people that were never fully 100% fans shift. This, and the tendency of making young looking faces that reminded ones of teens, in some cases was making some individuals reconsider Catwa for their next head. And their uber expensive prices. 2. Several DMCAs started to be placed on other companies by Catwa's creator. For heads that quite honestly didn't look to be copyrighted. Thus people started feeling ambivalent about the creator. Some actually starting to see an odd pattern. This tends to shift people from loyalty. 3. The introduction of BOM and HD within the newer lines of competitors such as Genus and Lelutka were also more advanced than Catwa. And in the world of technology and business, you can't stay behind. Eventually competitors will come in and fill in the gap. 4. Promotional Freebies: Free heads. Lelutka and Genus offered a free head so anyone that didn't fall inter the first two groups eventually switched when they gave out free heads. And this is why promotions works. Anyone that was in camp 1 or 2, now was getting a free head. If they liked the head, they'd grab another one in a sale or at regular price, the heads were cheaper than Catwa anyway. 5. Sales: I noticed more yearly sales in Lelutka (Black Friday) than in Catwa. This along with the free head makes any person that is kind of in the ambivalent corner or about to jump ship, do just that. Keeping in mind that Catwa if I recall was increasing their head cost and they were starting to charge the equivalent of an arm and a leg. I actually fell under the first category and a couple of my friends fell under the second one. I had liked the certain ethereal - Lara Pulver aesthetic I had going with my Akeruka Lara head. However, since everyone had Catwa appliers, and I liked them too much I started to check for Catwa's heads to see which one I could edit enough to look completely different from the origin. That ended up being the Catwa Kathy head. However, as soon as I liked a Lelutka head I moved toward her line and haven't looked back. Right now I'm using Lelutka's Lake. I've considered getting Sasha since I was able to modify her enough to look like Eva Green. However, this has made me reconsider that purchase.
  19. Seems that I can't add anything to merchant outbox. I even tried a block. Each time when it says it has added it the Merchant Oubox says there is an error. No browser is open, nothing.
