  1. These two videos remind me of SL (courtesy of Suspiria):
  2. Actually you don't even have to be a Member to post Youtube videos, even though that's what the help page says. It's my understand that Lexie has now enabled Residents to post Youtube videos too. See, I can do it:
  3. LiveReport wrote: Maddy was there? How come I have not seen her post to the new forums yet? I suspect she's lurking about.
  4. Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this yet, but now that Cerise has put together a style sheet to change the color scheme of the forum (Blue Goo theme for community.secondlife.com), I realized that the background on my badge no longer blended in the way I intended it to because I had inadvertently left a white layer visible that I had meant to make transparent. I have fixed that on my badge, but now that I'm using Cerise's style sheet I see that quite a few others have cutouts against white backgrounds on their badges. You may want to consider making your backgrounds transparent so your image blends correctly no matter what color scheme is used on the forum. Here's a tutorial for how to do that in Photoshop. ETA: Before any IE users get too excited, to use Cerise's style sheet you need the Stylish add-on, which is only available for Firefox and Chrome. Hopefully there will eventually be an option for IE too.
  5. Bikes, cars, boats, planes, spaceships... it's all possible in SL!
  6. Thank you, thank you, a million thank yous! That is so much easier on the eyes! And after installing I discovered that I accidentally left a white layer active when saving the image for my badge that I meant to make transparent. I hadn't noticed on the white forum background. Now it's fixed. Yay!
  7. @Kattatonia, I probably would never have known about the forums if not for the dashboard either. It was that frequent visible reminder that kept drawing me in. I'd see topics listed that interested me, or clearly popular topics that kept showing up over and over. I didn't seek the forum. It drew me in through its presence on the dashboard.I'd wager that's the case for many. @Argus, I noticed the no spam too! /me crosses fingers, arms, toes, and eyes that it stays that way @Venus, I agree, it's the perfect compromise.
  8. It was great to see some new faces at the Hangout last night. At first I had forgotten about the Destination Guide listing... it took me a while to realize that was the reason for the influx.
  9. Thanks so much! I'll have to tinker when I have a bit more time.
  10. How are people getting the translucent gray boxes with stats that don't have the blue hashes on the right side?
  11. Canoro! Welcome back! It sure is different, isn't it? A couple of things that have already been noted elsewhere about the "Off Topic" forum: You can only see it if you are logged into the SL forums (nice compromise between LL and the rest of us). Posts made in the "Off Topic" forum don't add to your post count.
  12. @Keli, you are so clever. What a good forum detective you are! @Dillon, Suella's post about the badges sure has beautified this otherwise sterile looking forum. I love how creative some people have been. I'll probably continue to tinker with mine over time, but satisfied with it for now. I just wish I knew how people were getting the gray translucent boxes that show stats in white instead of the white bubble I have.

I can think of a few of the guys on my list too... that is if I can persuade them to wake up at ungodly hours to become the 'Candy boys'. If they all look as good as Tem does in his forum avatar pic, I'll be there to watch them get their turn as Lillie's backup singers. :smileyhappy:
  14. Ags, as in the original thread, I still love your take on strengthening!
  15. Dillon Levenque wrote: In a post not long ago on the old GD Forum Quinn corrected me. I had referred to the existing 'Strengthening' thread as Quinn's. She said, "It's the Forum's thread now". And after thinking about it I had to agree. I'd like to think this incarnation will come to contain a lot of what the first one did. In any case, as one of the owners of this thread I'd like to comment. I know that there is now a whole new Forum category called "Off Topic" (yippee!), but I think this particular thread is right where it belongs. Thanks, Dillon. I agree that this thread was a perfect fit for the "Make Friends" subforum, especially as it seems to be a bit lost since getting moved here to "Off Topic." But the fact that people were glad to see it reappear and that it remains in the forum at all makes me happy. Dillon Levenque wrote: It is and was not a collection of friends communicating, but in many ways it was at least for me and for others a kind of friend genesis. There were people who posted who are now my friends. There were people who posted who I've yet to meet in SL and who may eventually become friends but in any case are people I'd love to meet and talk to. The whole thread was/is a collection of rare and very valuable shared experience. Humor. Struggle. Pain. Love. It was, in fact, very much like life, Second or First. That was its beauty. I wish more than anything that that continues. I have loved the shared experiences that were discovered as a result of this thread, and I too hope that there is enough momentum here to continue that. But even if this thread fades away (as it will, I am sure, ultimately do), I'm so grateful for the friendships that have developed from it. Dillon Levenque wrote: I would like to propose something to you, my fellow thread owners (past, present, and future). What a nice way to look at it. I love the idea of past, present, and future owners of this thread. I hope there are still many future owners out there!
  16. Hee hee, I just updated my sig to reflect my new status as a backup dancer. :smileyvery-happy:
  17. I'm not seeing the SL lgo favicon either. However, I have noticed then when you go to member profile pages, that member's forum avatar pic (not the badge, just the small pic) is the favicon for that member's page. That's kind of neat. I like it.
  18. Jacki Silverfall wrote: /me Thinks Tolya might be missing! Looks for balls I'm sure I saw a post from Tolya somewhere around here the other day, but I don't remember where I saw it.
  19. Maureen Boccaccio wrote: FYI, Cali Souther is djing at the Hangout later today. I think around 4 pm SLT. The Hangout's decorate for Mardi Gras. Sylvia and I...went a little nuts. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Allana/226/31/28 Yay! Do you know how long Cali will be DJing for? I will try to make it over there, but it might be on the later side.
  20. Well, there is always Quinn's Official List of People Never Listed on the Forum, which at last check (01-04-2011) read like this: Quinn's Official List of People Never Listed on the Forum: Eloise Baily Melita Magic {Add Your Name Here} (Note that once you get listed on this list, however, I will immediately have to remove you as you have now been named on a list and no longer qualify for the recognition of having never been listed.) ETA: Love the search in this new forum. I never would have dug up that old list otherwise!
  21. /me adds "build personal smiley library" to my list of things to do this weekend. Check.
  22. Huh. Here it says you have to have the Member rank to be able to add YouTube videos, but I see Honored Residents adding videos too. Is the help section wrong? http://community.secondlife.com/t5/help/faqpage/faq-category-id/ranksroles#ranksroles
  23. Off Topic from this thread (and what could be more appropriate given that this is the Off Topic forum)... Dillon, I can hardly tell from that tiny avatar photo, but are you wearing your "I'm a Lefty" t-shirt? That's awesome! :smileyvery-happy:
  24. Tem Haalan wrote: *Picture inspired by Valerie Inshan's "Your movie star and you: pic thread" Was that picture taken before or after Hippiestock? :smileywink:
