  1. The easy answer is that you are running a beta SL viewer on a beta OS. You should expect problems. You can try using a different viewer, like Firestorm or a previous LL viewer, but I suspect that if you want stability, you'll need to go back to Win 7.
  2. I don't know, but I can guess. You are less than 30 days old and you have no payment information on file. Unfortunately, that's a common profile for a griefer -- log on with a throwaway alt, NPIOF, and cause trouble. Some landowners and clubowners choose not to deal with the problem on a case-by-case basis. They have a "shoot on sight" policy and just ban anyone who fits the profile. You are what they call "collateral damage" or, if this were a Godfather movie, "Nothing personal, just business." It's not particularly good business, if you ask me, but it happens. Find another place to enjoy SL and spend your L$. There are many friendlier clubs around.
  3. That's not a good ping time at all. There's a logjam somewhere between your computer and SL's servers. To find it, take a look here >>> http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Checking_for_packet_loss_%28network_lag%29 and then in this excellent analysis in Nalates' blog >>> http://blog.nalates.net/2011/10/26/troubleshoot-your-sl-connection/
  4. If you are getting a message that you have to update the drivers for your graphics card, then it's probably not "alright." Check here to see what to do about it >>> http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Clean_Install
  5. It sounds like you have multiple problems. I truly don't understand what you are trying to do. You said you were copying a script from "the library". What library? It sounds to me as if you are finding scripts somewhere that have line numbers on them. Those won't compile. LSL scripts don't have line numbers, although an offline script editor will display line numbers while you're working on it. It also sounds as if you are trying to drag the script directly from someplace outside SL into the script edit window in SL. That's not likely to work either. Try a nice simple exercise .... (1) Find a script in the LSL Library or from the LSL Scripting Library . (2) Select the script -- ONLY the script -- with CTRL + C. (3) In SL, rez an object. While you have the Edit window open, go to the Contents page. (4) Click the "New Script" button. (5) Double click on the New Script that appears in that window to open it. (6) Select the entire script. Then paste the one you copied into that space with CTRL + V. (7) Click SAVE. Unless you screwed up, you will have a compiled version of the library's script in your object.
  6. See if your answer is here >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/doku.php?id=fs_media&s[]=flash
  7. Then that's exactly the information you need for filing an AR, and for finding the object itself, as we have suggested on other replies in this thread. You're all set.

  9. You have a very bad Internet connection, if your FPS is that low and you are disconnecting that often. Take a really good look at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Checking_for_packet_loss_%28network_lag%29 and at Nalates blog here >>> http://blog.nalates.net/2011/10/26/troubleshoot-your-sl-connection/ .

  11. The answer to most of your questions is "You can't." There is absolutely no way to make it so that your green dot does not show up on the map, or to make it so that anyone can't figure out your online status. Your profile is on the web, so anyone can type in https://my.secondlife.com/LishaJoya.Haven and see all the public stuff there. Since you haven't made your privacy settings very restrictive, that's a lot of information. If you are on Firestorm, you can go to Preferences >> Privacy and UNcheck "Publish my avatar in search listings", but that only affects whether people can use LL's search function to find that profile. The bottom line is that you cannot hide whether you are in SL. It's not easy to find where you are, but finding that you are in world is a snap. It doesn't take any special tools either. I can write an easy script in fewer than 10 lines to do it. The crosshair business is the one thing you CAN control. Go to your Develop menu (CTRL + Alt + Q) >>> Avatar and uncheck Show LookAt and Show PointAt. Many viewers also have a check box in Preferences to turn off the crosshairs.
  12. It might just be a local problem with the sim where you are trying to log in. If so, as the other have suggested, the problem should go away if you log in somewhere else. Often, though, the problem has nothing to do with SL's servers. Check your firewall and antivirus settings. It's fairly common for one or the other to treat SL as a suspicious program and to deny you access. Read here >>> http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Configure_your_software_firewall for good advice about how to set an exclusion for SL in your firewall. Read here >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/doku.php?id=as_anti-virus_white_listing_steps to see how to configure your anti-virus software to tell it to let you into SL.
  13. It' s hard to say. You told us nothing about your computer, its graphics card, its operating system, or which viewer you are using for SL. I'm not even sure what you mean by "choppy" and certainly not sure what you mean by "goes in and out of the screen a lot." You could add important information to your question by clicking on the Options link in its upper right corner and selecting EDIT. Please do NOT start a new thread.
  14. It's hard to know, since you said nothing about error messages. Take a look here, though, and see if any of their suggestions work for you >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/doku.php?id=fs_install_crash
  15. There are many reasons for that very common problem. What works for one person won't necessarily work for the next person, and it may not be the same thing that works for you tomorrow. See the full list of possibilitites here >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/doku.php?id=fs_bake_fail . Start with the simple things at the top of the list and work down until you find what works for you today.
  16. You don't need to paste anything. Just drag and drop a completed script into the contents of your object. If you really WANT to copy and paste something, create a new script in the object's contents and paste into it.
  17. The suggestions in this thread usually take care of the problem: (1) reboot your router and modem, reboot computer and (2) change DNS settings to use Google's free public DNS servers. If they aren't doing it for you, please start your own thread and let us know instead of adding the information in this thread, where it is certain to be buried and overlooked.
  18. I wonder whether this is a new example of the problem described in https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-24904 ? Take a look and see. If this sounds like your problem too, describe your particular case in as much detail as possible (photos, ... anything relevant) and add a comment to that JIRA. That may help LL's developers pin down the cause of the problem. Omce you have done that, try clearing your cache manually....... 1. Open Preferences → Network & Cache 2. Go to the first path “Cache Location” and click the “Open” button behind the path. This will open a file explorer window displaying your current cache location. 3. Logout (close the viewer) and then delete everything inside the cache folder displayed in your file explorer. Now continue as follows: 1.Log back into SL, to a quiet region (try Smith or Pooley). On your inventory window, click “Recent Items”. 2.Wait for your inventory to repopulate fully. The process may be sped up, if necessary, by typing random letters into the search bar. 3.While inventory repopulates, do not teleport anywhere, and do not attempt to access anything in your inventory. Talk to people or surf the web, or just go out for coffee 4.Watch as it repopulates. As long as you can see (Fetched…) at the top of the inventory window, it is still loading. 5.Once inventory has repopulated, log out of SL once more, then log back in.
  19. In addition to muting the object and filing an AR, as Innula suggests, you will have to actually remove it at some point. A script cannot run unless it is in an object. If you are on a private estate and know the owner, the fastest way to find it is to ask the owner to look in World >> Region/Estate >> Debug >> Top Scripts. It ought to stand out like a sore thumb. If you can't get the owner's help, you will have to do some treasure hunting. As Innula says, the name of the spammy object should appear it any messages it is sending. If you are lucky enough to be using the Phoenix or Firestorm viewers, you can use World >> Area Search to locate it. If not, you can still find it (more slowly) by highlighting transparent objects (CTRL + Alt + T) and then setting a beacon (CTRL + Shift + Alt + N) to look for scripted objects.
  20. This is a well-recognized problem (See https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-6608?). Unfortunately, it is not easy to solve. When you logged out of SL last time, you were wearing a group tag with "illegal" characters in it. That group tag makes it impossible for you to log in again until you leave the group. If you are Premium member, you can ask Live Chat to help by ejecting you from the group. They are familiar with this bug, so they know what to do. If you are not a Premium member, however, Live Chat is not an option. You will have to log in toSL as an alt and find the owner of that group. Explain the problem and ask him to eject you from the group.
  21. The easy way to avoid fire and ice attacks is to go someplace else. I have been in SL for four and a half years, and I have never been attacked like that. In fact, this is the first time I have heard of anyone being attacked that way. So, to quote Mr. Miyagi: "Best defense against attack ... Not be there." We don't give weapons advice here in Answers. Certainly not recommendations for a specific weapon. I suggest you try posting the question in one of the forums --- perhaps General Discussion. One bit of advice, though --- if you do find the perfet weapon, be very careful how and where you use it. Using weapons anywhere but in an approved RP area can be a TOS violation, for which you can be suspended or banned from SL.
  22. This is not anything that LL can control. If you have read Google's statements and the blog traffic since last May, it's evident that this is Google's way of making it unprofitable for scam artists to use their instant translation service. I have no idea how serious the problem has been, other than what I have read. It has evidently created a lot of legal hassles for Google, though, and they have decided that they have had enough. Unfortunately, the new pricing schedule is more than LL can afford and pass along to users. It looks as if we will either have to do cut & paste from Google's web-based service (http://translate.google.com/?hl=en&tab=mT) or go with another instant translation service like Babelfish (which is not available through SL). I agree, this is a major step backwards for our international community in SL, to say nothing of thousands of users worldwide in RL.
  23. It probably means that your computer is not up to recommended standards and will not be able to access SL, at least not with the current generation of viewers. The Intel graphics chip is a motherboard chipset, not a removable graphics card, and it may not be up to SL's heavy demand. See this thread for Peggy's resolution of the problem for another SL resident with that chipset >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/General/nonstop-crashes-wen-logging-in-why-please-help/qaq-p/690301. See also http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Technical/win-crash-logger-exe-has-stopped-working/qaq-p/1161993. You may be able to get an earlier version of SL's viewers or one of the third party viewers to run on your machine. See >>> http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Alternate_Viewers
  24. I am intrigued by Void's description of a two-script solution, but it still seems like a clunky way to do things. It means that the user has to do three things in order to TP to the skybox: (1) Click the door/portal to activate script #1 with its polling loop. (2) Collide with the door to activate script #2 to change a prim property of the door, break the polling loop, and trigger llMapDestination. (3) Click the "teleport" button in the map display that opens. That's a lot of work for a simple TP. There are much easier ways to get to a skybox with a standard sit TP . You don't get to do it with a collision, but you can include other visual effects that don't involve making the user activate more than one trigger (See https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Magic-Door-Teleporter/2749996 or https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Curio-Obscura-Anywhere-Doors/615009 , for example).
