Some people are using V1 codebase viewers because the V2 generation of viewers simply won't run on their computers. There is still even a small handful of people whose computers don't have SSE, which is required for all recent viewers and has been built in to virtually all computers sold after 2004. Those computers will finally die some day. Until then, though, their owners need to have invisiprim shoes (or go barefoot).
  2. What do you wear that needs 100 scripts? I normally wear about 10 scripts, for a total memory load of less than 400Kb, and I could do without some of that, if I'm being honest about what I "need." Viewers have good radars, flight assists, and AO's built in to them these days (better than the separate ones, and certainly less laggy), so you don't need half of the HUDs we used to. Hair now has one resizer/recolor script instead of one per prim, and you can even get rid of that one (after all, how many times do you need to resize your hair?). Same thing with bling in jewelry -- one script per necklace, not one per bead. I have a hard time coming up with ways to hang 100 scripts on my body, and I really have a hard time thinking of 100 that I "need."
  3. 1. You can always take things off your own body. 2. Nobody else can ever take anything off your body, unless you give them permission (as with RLV). That's the way SL works, except for rezzing issues. Those are just fate.
  4. That would certainly help .... unless the group owner was a spammer, but that's the case with group notices now. :smileytongue: In any case, there's no way to get the information with a script, which is what you were after.
  5. I'm getting some random glitchiness when I just rotate on Z, too. I've been experimenting wih door scripts. I can create a keyframe - driven door that works beautifully, but one that I Shift-drag a copy of will sometimes have a funny elliptical drift as it rotates. It's frustrating. This is SUCH an easy way to create a smooth rotating door, but that little unpredictable drift during the movement is annoying.
  6. Why not just grab the saved contents in the old file and copy them into the new one? There's nothing magical about a file name. If the new viewer wants to use a name with an underscore in it, let it. All you really care about is still having access to all of your old logs, right?
  7. Very wierd, and your workaround is as good as mine. It doesn't solve the root problem, but it gets your product working.
  8. Hi, Pam. Yes, I never figured out what causes that problem, so my solution was to add a note to the product that warns users not to add more than 32 copies of the same thing to its inventory. It's the chicken's way out, but in my case it wasn't much of a limitation. My product is a dance machine, and it's copiable. If a buyer expects to have more than 32 people dancing at once -- a rare occurrence in most places -- he can always put up a second machine. Finding a real solution to the problem is still on my To Do list. Now if YOU find a solution, plase let me know .....
  9. No. That would be handy, but it would also make life VERY easy for spammers, who would love to get the membership lists for some of the really big groups in SL. Be glad that it's not possible. However, it's fairly easy to make your own membership list if your group is by invitation only and you are willing to do a little manual labor. Write yourself a simple script that asks potential members to click to join, then have your script collect the person's name for the database while it sends you a note so you can add them to the group.
  10. Try posting your question in the Wanted section of the Commerce forum, where someone might be likely to see it. >>>http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Wanted/bd-p/Wanted
  11. Almost certainly not. The building still has his name on it, not yours. Until he has transferred it to you, you don't have any rights to it, even if you have already paid the builder some L$.

    is this truth?

In addition to the post that Griffin mentions, I reposted several times (with his permission) Rhett Linden's response when this same rumor appeared in the SL Educators list on September 21, 2011: "This caught my eye and I wanted to set the record straight. We are not planning to do anything with your accounts or alt accounts. It's in our interest to ensure you have access to your account." Hence, the rumor is NOT true, as many of us have said.
  13. Dump all of the names of detected avatars into a list and use a timer event to scroll through the list, displaying one new name in each time step and removing an old one. It may be a little chaotic if the list changes rapidly because a lot of people are coming and going, but under normal circumstances, it should work.
  15. Yes, but you will need to sell the Lindens first, so that you have a dollar balance to pay from. Just go to your dashboard at secondlife.com and click in the Lindex link to sell L$.
  16. 1. Open Preferences → Network & Cache 2. Go to the first path “Cache Location” and click the “Open” button behind the path. This will open a file explorer window displaying your current cache location. (You can also look for the %APPDATA% location on your computer.) 3. Logout (close the viewer) and then delete everything inside the cache folder displayed in your file explorer. Now continue as follows: 1.Log back into SL, to a quiet region (try Smith or Pooley). On your inventory window, click “Recent Items”. 2.Wait for your inventory to repopulate fully. The process may be sped up, if necessary, by typing random letters into the search bar. 3.While inventory repopulates, do not teleport anywhere, and do not attempt to access anything in your inventory. Talk to people or surf the web, or just go out for coffee 4.Watch as it repopulates. As long as you can see (Fetched…) at the top of the inventory window, it is still loading. 5.Once inventory has repopulated, log out of SL once more, then log back in.
  17. I have never seen that error message before, but my guess is that it's not preventing you from abandoning the land. In fact, its name suggests that you have clicked the Abandon Land option too many times in a short period of time. It's telling you to stop doing that. If you can't abandon the land, there's something else wrong. For example, maybe you deeded the land to a group? If so, you don't own it any more, so you can't abandon it. The group will have to sell it back to you first. (Easy to do if it's your group.)
  18. I sell only a very few models of shoes, because my shop is basically a dress shop. All of the shoes have invisiprims, but I always include an alpha mask with every pair. Every clothing item I sell is copy/mod, so it's an easy matter for a customer to remove the invisiprims if she wants to. It will be a very long time before we no longer have SL residents who use V1 viewers, so it would be unfortunate to stop selling clothing that they can use.
  19. tostao wrote: [...] I think it's a problem with a group or a garment that he had, and leaves no load the character, some of you know how to fix my problem or help me? Thanks for your help and attention Yes, it is quite possibly a problem with a group. If you were wearing a group tag that contains "illegal" characters when you logged out of SL the last time, that tag will prevent you from logging in again. This is a known bug >>> Group created possibly involves "invalid character" preventing Login. If you are a Premium member, all you have to do is contact Live Chat and explain the problem. Ask them to remove you from that group. If you are not a Premium member, however, there is only one way to solve the problem. You will have to enter SL as an alt, or find a friend to enter for you. Find the owner of that group and ask him to eject you from the group. Explain that this problem will affect other members of the group too, so he should change that tag immediately.
  20. RecklessVirtue wrote:[...] Yes, I just copy/pasted it.. I had already looked to see if I could find the answer before asking it.. but even that question was never answered. And I have had no luck finding this 'menu' The OP answered her own question in that thread .... "Added as an edit: Ah, problemm solved. I hunted around the menus and found a voice morph "activate" function elsewhere. I think the lack of understanding was caused by the instructions by Linden Labs being for an earlier version of the viewer. Anyway, the problem is now solved. Thank you for replying."
  21. This is a confusuing duplicate of Dazler's identical question at http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Controls/Voice-Morphing/qaq-p/1265175 . :smileysurprised:
  22. Here's a small selection of wiki pages to look at.... http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Disc_Jockey http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Streaming_Music http://howto.slserver.com/ http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Overview_of_Music_in_Second_Life http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Putting_On_a_Great_Live_Music_Show
  23. You are not the first person to report this problem. See, for example >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Inventory/Why-do-I-have-multiple-system-folders-For-example-I-have-about/qaq-p/1253853 . There is a JIRA bug report on it at https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-27223 , but there is no workaround or fix yet. You can help the developers find an answer by adding you comments to that JIRA page, along with as much helpful information as you can give them about your computer, viewer, and specific problem.
  24. Time out limit? As in "Screen saver"? Right click on the PC desktop and select "Properties", then the Screen Saver tab. You can adjust the timeout for the screen saver there. While you have that window open, also click on the Power button. You'll see settings there under Power Management for telling your computer how long to wait beofre turning off your monitor to save power.
