  1. Sometimes clearing your cache manually from outside SL helps. See >>> http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Clear_Cache. Log back in to a very quiet sim like Smith or Furball and open your inventory. Type a random letter in the search field to jump-start rebuilding and resyncing the locally cached copy of your inventory. When it stops saying "fetching .... ", you should have a rebuilt inventory and (with luck) the missing items. If that doesn't work, it's time to turn to Live Chat.
  2. AFAIK, there's no control in Phoenix that will create a blinking cursor. There is no Debug Setting that does it either. My guess is that it's a routine on your own computer, a special "feature" that you have activated somehow. BTW, you are always welcome to ask questions about any SL viewer. These are public resident-to-resident forums, so you're likely to get answers from people who are using all of the LL and Third Party viewers. As Jenni says, however, if you have a viewer-specific question, you can often find more expertise in groups dedicated to your own particular viewer. The Phoenix/Firestorm is one of the best, so it would be wise to ask there too.
  3. It should be deducted automatically from the USD balance in your account. If that balance is not sufficient, LL will charge the credit card that you used as backup. You may also sell L$ to increase your USD balance.
  4. It may not be a SL issue at all. A private vendor could easily have a faulty script that handles the money part of the transaction correctly but screws up on delivery. The best way to get what you paid for is to deal directly with whoever owns that vendor. First, check the Account >> Transaction History page on your dashboard at secondlife.com to get a record of the transactions. You'll need that to show that you actually did pay and to show what you were purchasing. Send that information in an IM or on a notecard to the creator and explain the situation politely. With luck, you should get your items. BTW, many (most?) sandboxes have a rule against selling, because the likelihood of con artists is higher there. I advise you to be cautious about buying anything in a sandbox in the future. ETA: The more I look at your post, the more confused I am. Your note says that you bought items in a public sandbox, but the heading mentions Marketplace. Which is it?
  5. BADELCAT Carpenter wrote: I did what you suggested to do. Reclaim the products to the vendors THEY DO NOT ANSWER. Be patient. Unlike you, many merchants do not log in to SL every day, especially over a weekend. Also, if a merchant has received too many messages (IMs, notecards....), his "in box" may be filled and no longer accepting additional notes, so he may never have received yours. Give it at least another day, then follow up with a polite reminder. If you don't get a response then, file a support ticket ( https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ )and ask LL to look into it. If it's a delivery error in Marketplace, they will be able to straighten it out for you.
  6. maplesky Nightfire wrote: Vewer 2 is a complete failure for me. I don't know what the problem is but ever since they started improving it all I get are a bunch of prims that are black, including myself. Does this have something to do with my graphics card? If so, how do I find it and how should it be adjusted? I was able to use an early version of viewer 2 but now it won't work either. The link for it was given to me by someone on here. The textures are so much more detailed, the water sparkles in the sun and glows at night, things are just more interesting to look at. Please help me if you can. Turn off VBO. Go to Preferences >> Graphics >> Hardware Settings and UNcheck Enable OpenGL Vertex Buffer Objects That usually clears up the black prim problem.
  7. There seem to be problems with the ViVox servers on some sims, possibly related to recent server upgrades, but it is also possible that your own viewer is borked. You can try doing a clean re-install (not simply installing a fresh copy on top of what is already there) to see if that helps. See >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/doku.php?id=fs_clean_reinstall for instructions that work for any viewer. Also, take a look at http://blog.nalates.net/2011/05/08/second-life-voice-problems/ for other voice suggestions. BTW, that upgrade to your viewer was NOT mandatory. Almost none of them are. The only reason you got it was that you have the "Automatic Updates" option checked in Preferences. If you don;t want updates or want to get them only when you ask for them, UNcheck that option. You can always go back and re-install any earlier viewer, or a TPV.
  8. It sounds like you are wearing (or are near to) an object that has a script that is listening for the word "Reset". You can locate nearby scripted objects by activating a beacon (CTRL + Shift + Alt + N) and selecting Scripted. Then it's a matter of examining each one, one at a time, to find the culprit. If it's happening no matter where you are, then the script is in something you are wearing. Beacons won't locate those scripts, but you can try simply detaching things that you are wearing, one at a time, until the behavior goes away. If the script is in something important like your hair or a HUD, you should contact the creator and ask about how to overcome the problem.
  9. The NVidia GeForce 9800 GT is a fine video card. I have one myself and have never had a problem at all. There's nothing inherent in the card itself that will cause you to be kicked out of SL, but if it's happening regularly one thing to worry about a LOT is heat. That card will use a fair amount of power, and SL puts a heavy demand on it. All of that translates into heat that can destroy the card if you aren't careful. It's own safety mechanism is to dump you out of the program so it can cool off. The best protection is good ventilation. Make a practice of opening up the computer every month or so and blowing out any accumulatred dust bunnies and cat hair with a can of compressed air. Be sure that you have a couple of good fans in the case. I have four -- they are cheap insurance. Finally, look on the Internet for a fan speed control program. There are loads out there and they are free to download. The program will increase the fan speed if it senses that temperature is getting too high.

  11. Luc's right. I can put a scripted sound into anything I'm wearing ... shoes that click when I walk, jewelry that jingles, a light saber that humms .... anything.
  12. You have a connection problem. Your avatar (and mine and everyone else's) updates frequently by trading information back and forth with SL's servers. If that process is interrupted, you see a partially rezzed image. There are two common sources of trouble. First, people who use wireless for SL often have bad luck. There's just too much interference from other nerby electronic devices, and too much bandwidth loss on wireless. So, unless you have no other choiuce, switch to a direct cable connection. Second, your router is often the weakest link in your Internet connection. It needs to be rebooted occasionally to clear its RAM and get a better grip on an IP address. Just unplug it from the power for a few minutes while you go get a cup of coffee. Plug it back in and it should be good to go. Those two steps often clear up the problems you are having. If they don;t do it for you, come back and add to your question by clicking Options in its upper right corner and selecting EDIT.

That's a communication problem between your computer and SL's servers. Information about your appearance has to be "baked" onto your avatar on your own computer, saved there, and then uploaded to SL before it's fully visible there. If the necessary information is messed up in transmission, you may end up with a borked file on your computer, or SL's servers may end up with a borked file. Either way, your av's appearance defaults to a fluffy cloud. What works to repair the damage for one person won't necessarily work for the next person, and it may not be the same thing that works for you tomorrow. See the full list of possibilitites here >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/doku.php?id=fs_bake_fail . Start with the simple things at the top of the list and work down until you find what works for you today.
  14. Then use the solutions that were already posted to this thread.
  15. See http://community.secondlife.com/t5/LSL-Scripting/Coin-Toss/m-p/893467/highlight/true#M2509
  16. default{ state_entry() { llSay(0,"Testing, 1 ... 2 ... 3"); }} No deal. OK, so that's the trick? I'm on Firefox and I have no formatting buttons. How did you get them back on yours? Greasemonkey is gone too. ETA: Never mind. I see what happened. It's the latest update to Firefox. Greasemonkey and Stylish were disabled somehow. They're back now.
  17. All I did was show you how an if test works. You need to fit that idea into the logic of your own script. If you want to switch the textures randomly, you'll need...... (1) A trigger to make the textures change (Touch. That part's pretty straightforward.) (2) A way to choose which end is up, at random (See llFrand) (3) A way to actually paint the correct textures on the top and bottom of your "coin." (This is the part you already have). So what you need to do is write step #2. The result of that step is what you will have to test with your if statement. Once you have that done, you'll have your basic coin and you can think about bells and whistles to make it look more exciting.
  18. All I can recommend is what I told Abigail. If your alts are stuck too, you'll need to find a friend or create yet another alt. It really stinks, but if you can't use Live Chat, this is the only way.
  19. I don't have the faintest idea, Charolotte. All browsers have that function, though. You'll have to explore.
  20. I see that the Lindens have "improved" our forums again and have wiped out the +LSL and -LSL buttons that we need for doing our script highlighting. It's been long enough since the last time they screwed this up that I can't remember how we have to repair it. Anybody know? Cerise? Void?
  21. The statement if(llSetTexture("c69a44a2-8bef-641f-50b5-790737a4bd3a",0)==TRUE) doesn't make any sense at all. You are asking llSetTexture to place the texture named "c69a44a2-8bef-641f-50b5-790737a4bd3a" on the top face of your object, but that action is not something that has a TRUE/FALSE outcome. It's not a testable condition. I imagine that you are trying to ask whether that texture is on face 0 of your object. If so, you'd need to ask something like if (llGetTexture(0) == "c69a44a2-8bef-641f-50b5-790737a4bd3a"){ //Do stuff if that if statement evaluates to TRUE}else{ //Do other stuff if it's FALSE} Even though that's syntactically correct, of course, it won't do what you want. After all, face 0 remains on the same part of the object even if the object is turned upside down.
  22. You have to make that change in your browser. In Firefox, for example, open Tools >> Options >> Applications and scroll down until you see second life in the left column. Then browse to your preferred viewer and indicate its location in the right hand column. Thereafter, Firefox will know that when it sees "second life", you really mean "redirect to this specific viewer."
  23. The in-world display and the "official" record can be out of sync with each other at times. So, click on it to get it to sync with your actual balance, which you ought to see at secondlife.com under the Account >> Transaction History heading. If your balance went down because you paid someone, you'll be able to see who got the L$ by looking at that Transaction History too.
