  1. Linden Lab does not accept most (any?) debit cards. You'll have to use a credit card. You may use the following payment methods with Second Life: Visa American Express MasterCard Delta Online JCB Discover (U.S. Residents only) Visa Electron (non-U.S. Residents only) PayPal
  2. @Anaiya -- I can appreciate your perspective. I find the "busy" option awkward and annoying so I rarely use it myself, but I do value my quiet work time and will protect it against unwanted intrusion. Aside from occasionally being annoyed, though, I see little need to disable a very useful function -- one that I rely on fairly heavily. I am not generally interested in finding out when someone is on line, but it's very important to me to know when they leave. I manage a fairly large team of volunteers who come in world to be available as mentors (librarians, actually, but that's basically their function). It's important for potential users of our service to know when someone is available, so each volunteer logs in by clicking a HUD when s/he's available. My system shows potential users that a librarian is on duty somewhere in SL, and it keeps track of how long the librarian was available. It does that second job by logging the librarian OFF when s/he either clicks the HUD to log out, or when s/he logs out of SL. We have several years of statistical data -- potentially useful for RL granting agencies and our RL sponsoring/partnering institutions -- to show how much time our staff puts in weekly, so having reliable login information is important to us. It's also important for potential users to know when a a librarian is really available, and hasn't just left SL without turning off the HUD. Removing the DATA_ONLINE functionality would break our system completely. As others in this thread have commented, there are an endless number of other practical, legitimate uses for DATA_ONLINE, many of which would become difficult or impossible to serve another way. We can have philosophical differences of opinion about how much privacy we each feel comfortable with, but the practical matter is that a great many merchants and service groups in SL depend on the functionality of DATA_ONLINE. It makes little sense to me to let the relatively small inconvenience that we all feel when someone knows we are in world outweigh the benefits of being able to see who else is around.
  3. Nobody here can help unless you tell us what's wrong. "Can not log in" is not a diagnosis. You'll need to tell us what happens when you try. How far through the login process do you get? What error messages do you see? Have you ever been able to log in before? What kind of computer do you have? What graphics card does it have? What kind of Internet connection? What have you already tried (A different viewer maybe? A different computer? A different login site? Check your firewall? .....) If you have useful information to share, add it to your question by clicking on the Options link in its upper right corner and selecting EDIT. Please do NOT start a new thread.
  4. Why do you care? Why live like a turtle inside a shell, in fear of unnamed bad guys? Your RL identity is unknown unless you choose to divulge it, so why do you care if anyone knows that your virtual identity is awake? I find the culture of paranoia totally puzzling.
  5. Follow Val's instructions. If you aren't using Phoenix, just TP to another sim and back again. That's enough to re-render the person.
  6. Val is right. Also note that in order to play Flash format videos (eg YouTube videos), you must have the generic Adobe Flash plugin installed. If you use IE as your web browser and already have Flash, you will need to get the generic Flash plugin; see here. linux users need to have gstreamer installed, with the “bad” plugin set.
  7. Exactly. And the data could be anything helpful. The most obvious bit to send is the person's UUID, but you could send his/her position too if you thought that was useful. The object_rez event is very handy that way. So is the final parameter in the llRezAtRoot parameter list, which can be any integer or something coded as an integer.
  8. I don't know. I just added the group and will wait to see what happens. I suppose that LL will eventually have a filtering process of some kind.
  9. I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for, but take a look at http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/web_profile . You may be looking for the information under the People tab.
  10. Yes, it's possible. How you do it depends on exactly what you want to accomplish. Basically, you need to start a timer on rez, let it run fo 10 seconds, and then do something when it's triggered. The "something" is what you have to decide. Do you want the rezzed object to just stop where it is? Vanish? Explode? Move around and block your path? Once you decide, put the relevant commands in the timer event and you're done.
  11. Leander Tyles wrote: [...] i will use your solution if thats the only way, im wondering if changing the size/shape of the prim during transportation will help, maybe i can even change sit target then change it back when tp returns It's certainly the easiest way. Why make the job any more complicated than it has to be? I don't understand why you are resisting changing a number. BTW, don't bother using WarpPos. Not only was WarpPos superceded by PosJump a long time ago, both were made obsolete earlier this year. They depended on a hack that LL has now largely invalidated, and we have a much better solution in the new function llSetRegionPos.
  12. Leander Tyles wrote: cant realy raise the seat, [...] i guess i have no choice but too change the z value to a height greater than expected, i was hoping for a better solution realy because if i ever move the platform then i have to calculate it all out again. Sorry. That's what I mean by "raise the seat." It's not "cheating," to use the phrase from your original note. It''s the solution. Your seat arrives too low for the platform. You have been getting away with it until now because your old animation evidently had you stand up a bit higher than the new one. So, instead of aiming for 89m, try 90 or 91.
  13. Nope. On their turf, they make the rules. They can ban you if they like, and they don't even have to have a reason. LL won't get invoved with a dispute like this at all.
  14. That's nobody's business but the person(s) behind the avatars. You can ask, but they don't have to tell you. One of the nice things about SL is that we are assured through the TOS that our RL identities cannot be revealed. In fact, if you discover and share someone's RL information, that can be grounds for being banned from SL.
  15. Yes. Change the Z-value in your teleporter. :smileytongue: Your TP seat is aimed too low, so when you stand up from the new sit target, you are below the platform. Raise the seat.
  16. Awwww.... I missed seeing it. But Chelsea got it.
  17. Marya Danick wrote: [...] I could not find where to do full the numbers in....is there no other solution for this problem No. That's the solution. Follow the instructions on the web site that Valerie and I both gave you.
  18. LOL! I wonder the same thing all the time. In this case, I think Marigold got it right. At least she posted the best pic I have seen in a response for a while.
  19. You'll have to write your own scanner or adapt one of those available on the market. There is no single LSL function that will do the job for you. If you have access to the Region/Estate tools in your World menu, you can of course get a list of all scripted objects from the Top Scripts function, but that leaves all of the non-scripted objects undetected. The other option, of course, is to use the Area Search function in the Firestorm viewer (World >> Area Search), with which you can can a sim-wide list of all objects, filtered by name, owner, description, or group setting.
  20. No, you need to contact the Linden Lab billing office. They are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Toll-Free (US/Canada) 800.294.1067 Long-Distance 703.286.6277 Local Toll-Free numbers * France: 0805.101.490 * Germany: 0800.664.5510 * Japan: 0066.33.132.830 * Portugal: 800.814.450 * Spain: 800.300.560 * UK: 0800.048.4646 * Support is in English Only
  21. Valerie gave you a link to a good web site that tells you exactly how to use the "8.8.8.8" numbers. Here it is again >>> http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using.html. Follow the instructions and your problem should be solved.
  22. Not if the 512 sq m of land is the parcel that your Linden Home is on. Otherwise, yes. The deal is that you get either a 512 sq m parcel with a Linden Home on it or free tier for 512 sq m that you can apply toward your monthly fee on a different parcel.
  23. Welcome to Second Life. I'm sorry that this happened so soon after ytou got here, but don't panic. It can sometimes take anywhere from a few minutes to a day or more for your items to be delivered, especially if the merchant's Magic Box is temporarily out of service or the sim it's on is offline. The Magic Box delivery system leaves a lot to be desired. Not that it helps now, but to remember for the future: (1) Don't overuse the shopping cart. It is easily confused if you put more than a couple of things in it. (2) Don't buy things from Marketplace (especially LOTS of things) unless you are in world to receive them at the time. We each have an "in box" that holds IMs, notecards, group notices, group invitations, and anything that is delivered to us if we aren't in world at the time. That "in box" can only hold 25 things, total. If anything else comes in, it isn't saved. It is gone ... poof .... forever. If you have a mess of things delivered from Marketplace and half your friends send you notecards, that in box will be capped and you will never know what happened. So, what do you do now? ....... To get a record of the individual items in your order, open Marketplace and click the My Marketplace menu at the top of the page. Select My Account >> Order History from the pulldown menu. If you do not receive items within about 24 hours, you should cut and paste the information about a missing item from that Order History and send it in a IM or notecard to the merchant, along with a polite message requesting redelivery. Most merchants are very kind and willing to redeliver. This happens all the time and they are aware of it. Do be patient, though. Not everyone logs in to SL every day or checks their e-mail. If you still haven't heard in another day or two, follow it up with a second polite note and finally, if you STILL haven't heard, file a support ticket at https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ , selecting Marketplace from the pulldown menu.
  24. There's no point in shouting. I can hear you perfectly well. Clearing cache almost always does solve exactly this problem, or I wouldn't have suggested it. Your locally cached inventory is clearly messed up, because there's no other way for something like this to happen. If clearing cache doesn't fix things, it's because there is something more fundamental that is corrupting it all over again once it has been cleared. The culprit is usually an unstable internet connection, often traceable to your router. That's harder to diagnose from a distance. One simple first step, though, is just to reboot it by unplugging it from the power for a few minutes. No guarantees, but see if that helps. And please calm down.
