  1. Often, that message is telling you that the region you are trying to enter is off line or is having trouble. The way to check that possibility is to log in at a different sim. Unfortunately, there are many other reasons why you might get the same message, all having to do with weak communication between your computer and SL's servers. You can sometimes solve it by doing something as simple a getting off wireless -- often a bad choice in SL anyway -- or by rebooting your router. Without more information, it's very hard to diagnose what's wrong in your case. Take a look at these two articles in Nalates's blog to get an idea of the sorts of things you should be looking for ..... http://blog.nalates.net/2011/09/11/cant-login-second-life/ http://blog.nalates.net/2011/10/26/troubleshoot-your-sl-connection/

    again

OK, let's try this again..... :smileyhappy: You asked specifically how to reset a script in an object. There are two ways: 1. Open the BUILD menu at the top of your screen. Select SCRIPTS and then RESET SCRIPTS. 2. Use your Build/Edit tool (CTRL + 3) to select the object. Then Go to the CONTENTS page and locate the script. OPEN the script and click on the RESET button. Neither of those methods will work on a script that you do not own or have mod perms on. If that's the case, you cannot reset the script at all unless the scripter has designed a way to do it --- for example, by clicking a dialog button, sending a chat command, or re-rezzing the object. BTW, if you want help, you're more likely to get it if you don't insult the people you're asking. Click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT to add information. Please do NOT start a new thread.
  4. Build >>. Scripts >> Reset Scripts or open the script and click the Reset button
  5. It works fine for me. Poofs right on time, or if anything hits it. Time for the "Is it plugged in?" question........ Did you check to see if the script is running? And are you on land where scripts are enabled?
  6. Nope, not an option in SL. This is Linden Lab's world. They have access to all of the original copies of IMs and chat, and all the stuff that people have in inventory .... like photos .... so they can do a pretty deep investigation, and they are under no obligation to tell you or anyone else what they find either. It's not a court of law. It is their world, so if they decide for any reason at all that they want to ban someone, they can do it. You agreed to it, too. (TOS, Sect 11.4: "We may suspend or terminate your Account if we determine in our discretion that such action is necessary or advisable to comply with legal requirements or protect the rights or interests of Linden Lab, the Second Life community or any third party.") You can always file a lawsuit in RL if you want to. Heck, anyone can file a lawsuit for anything if he can find a lawyer willing to accept his money. You decide if it's worth it.
  7. To turn it from a white oval back to a white cloud, move your graphics Quality slider from Low to Medium (or, if it's already at least at Medium, type CTRL + Shift+Alt + = to toggle particles back on). To get rid of the white cloud...........What works to repair the damage for one person won't necessarily work for the next person, and it may not be the same thing that works for you tomorrow. See the full list of possibilitites here >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/doku.php?id=fs_bake_fail . Start with the simple things at the top of the list and work down until you find what works for you today. You may find that the bake fail problem comes back repeatedly, even after you fix it with one of the suggestions on that wiki page. If so, you have a chronically weak Internet connection. There are many steps to take for repairing it. Perhaps the simplest ones -- ones that work best for most people -- are: (1) Don't Use WIRELESS. Wireless connections are inherently less stable than direct cable connections and are more vulnerable to interference. Then, (2) Reboot your router. Unplug it from the power for a few minutes to let it clear its RAM. The plug it back in and let it get a fresh hold on an IP address.
  8. If you have a higher-priority animation running, it will take precedence over the internal animation that is triggered during editing, which I believe has a priority 2. So, for example, if you are sitting, dancing, or have some other priority 3 or 4 animation running, it should override the one used in editing.
  9. Exactly. If nothing else, use a change in llGetDate() as a trigger to start a timer that fires two or three (or 22 or 23) hours later when it's midnight wherever you are. It's kludgy, but there are always ways to get around a minor challenge like that.
  10. I can't see any obvious flags in your listing for Sweets Photo Studio & Shoutcast Rental, with the possible exception of the mild "Romantic Love Couples" descriptor. You might try modifying that to see if it makes a difference.
  11. Take a good look at http://community.secondlife.com/t5/LSL-Library/Walking-through-walls/td-p/1390043 which, despite its title, is really about making exactly the sort of "vehicle" that you are talking bout.
  12. The problem is very close to home. Your computer has lost the ability to talk with SL's servers. The weak link is almost always your own router. The first step is to reboot it. Unplug it from the power for 3 to 5 minutes to let it clear its RAM, then plug it back in again. That will let it get a clean grasp on an IP address too. That may be all that it takes. If not, then the DNS message is the next shot. Instead of using whatever DNS settings your ISP assigns to you by default, add Google's free pubic DNS servers and make them the default. Here's how >>> https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using . When you have done the setup, it's probably smart to turn everything off and restart it. If even THAT does not solve the problem, try taking your router completely ou of the loop temporarly. Just plug your computer's data cable directly into the modem, bypassing the router. It things work then, it may be time to replace the router.
  13. Did you call the Billing Office? If you have a billing question, that's always the smartest move you can make. If you have a non-technical issue related to billing concerns, you can call the Linden Lab billing team at the following toll-free numbers: US/Canada: 800-294-1067 France: 0805-101-490 Germany: 0800-664-5510 Japan: 0066-33-132-830 Portugal: 800-814-450 Spain: 800-300-560 UK: 0800-048-4646 Brazil: 0800-762-1132 Long distance ( not free, but you can use Skype to save some cost ) : 703-286-6277 **Note: Support is offered only in English
  14. There's a good reason why they call it a "Preview" or beta version. It doesn't necessarily have all the bugs worked out yet, and it isn't necessarily compatible with everything that you might expect a full release version to work with. Your best bet, other than waiting for Win 8 to be released, is to find that Win 7 disk and reinstll it.
  15. Which games? If your graphics card supports OpenGL (most do) and has adequate memory, you should be able to enter Second Life. SL has trouble with some laptops that have integrated chipsets instead of replaceable graphics cards but, again, you should be able to get at least low-quality graphics with most of them Post your card's model here and someone will help sort it out. Click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT. Please do NOT start a new thread.
  16. Items that are in the Library folder don't affect your inventory count, so don't worry about them. They only become "in" your inventory if you use them, at which point you should see that a copy has appeared in one of your other folders.
  17. Possibly ghost prims. Restarting the sim should remove them. The other possibility is that you are tripping over the bounding box of a mesh or sculpty object that is below the floor. If that's the case, your only option is to either lower (or remove) the object or raise the floor.
  18. What's a "0 peer file"? "Not come quickly" == you have a delivery problem? From Marketplace maybe? If so, copy the details of your purchase from Marketplace >> My Marketplace >> My Account >> My Order History and send it in a polite note to the merchant who sold you the item, and ask for redelivery. Be patient. If you have not had a reply in a few days, try again, and then submit a report ticket to Linden Lab to ask for their help.
  19. You have to be the owner of the entire sim. Then follow the link that Val gave you. You can't change the texture of just a single parcel. Now, you can fake it if you like (and if you have the right tools). That texture can be applied to anything, not just the land. So if your land is as flat as a pancake, apply it top a large prim and set that downlike a bedspread to cover your parcel. If the land is more irregular, you can create a mesh or sculpty object to do the same thing. You can buy tools in Marketplace to help, if you can't create sculpties or mesh objects yourself.
  20. My guess is that there is an AO that comes with the avatar, so that you have all the proper animations for a cat, and that you neglected to wear and activate it. Look for instructions that probably came with the avatar --- a notecard, maybe?
  21. Marigold is right. You may have forgotten to wear the alpha layer that came with the shoes too or, if they are older shoes, the invisiprims.
  22. Locate your desktop shortcut for your SL viewer Right click on the icon and select Properties Select the Compatibility tab Check the “Run this program in compatibility mode for:” and select Windows XP from the drop down Click Apply. If you get a User Account Control security popup, then please see this page.
  23. If you emptied trash, that folder is gone forever. There is no way to recover it. The reason that you have a broken link in your saved outfits is that there is nothing for it to link to any more. Whatever was in that folder is no more.
  24. There is no "object within an object". Your inventory and the Contents of any object are nothing more than a species of lookup table that tells the servers where to find the description of each item listed. The objects don't exist until you rez them, so there's no way to control them. You're trying to invent to SL equivalent of a perpetual motion machine. Fun to imagine, but not doable unless you step outside of the fundamental rules of SL and LSL with something like RLV, as Innula suggested.
  25. Be sure that you have a current mesh-enabled viewer .... V3, Firestorm, Phoenix, Singularity, CoolVR ..... Then, check to be sure that you have Basic Shaders and Hardware Skinning both checked in Preferences >> Graphics. Oh, and set your quality slider to Medium or higher (assuming that your computer can handle that level of quality).
