  1. You didn't give us much to go on, so it's almost impossible to tell you what to do next. When you ask a technical question, you need to provide some basic information. What kind of computer are you using? What graphics card? What operating system? What sort of Internet connection? Which SL viewer are you using? Exactly what error message are you getting, and exactly when? Click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT to add imporant information. Please do NOT start a new thread.
  2. You may choose to withdraw your US dollar balance via PayPal or bank wire. Note: Use a bank wire only under the following circumstances:PayPal will not permit payments to your country. You are expecting payment of $10,000 or more. Those are your only choices. For more information, see http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Account-balance/ta-p/700015#Section_.2
  3. Post your question in the Wanted forum. That's always a good place to start when you're trying to find something or want something made for you. Don't expect free for a custom script, though. You get what you pay for. :smileywink:
  4. rez: v.t.,To create or to make an object appear inworld. To rez an object, drag it from your inventory or create a new one using the Build window, or by using the function llRezObject or llRezAtRoot in a script. You must have permission to create objects at the location in world where you want to rez them.
  5. If you are in an area where you are allowed to rez them. :smileywink:
  6. Check for blank spaces in your string, such as you might get in the middle of a two=word sim name. Those will break a SLURL unless you have used llEscapeURL to convert the spaces to %20 before storing them and then uploading them again.
  7. Voice has always been a flaky feature in SL, so this is nothing new. :smileytongue: Take a look at http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_voice and see if anything there helps.

Yeah, Torley's advice is rarely wrong, but he missed it in this case. To be fair, though, I think he may have written that in pre-Voice days. Still should have been a problem with streamed music, though ......
  9. The one you saw probably WAS a phishing attempt, Luc. It's been around in SL since last weekend. If the behavior that Innula is describing is verified, it might explain why the phishing scam has been so convincing.
  10. Did you actually register for a Linden Home (assuming that you are a Premium member of SL and are entitled to one)? If not, see >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Linden-Homes/ta-p/700103#Section_.2 If you signed up for one, you should have received an e-mail telling you where it is. Your welcome email will provide the location of your Linden Home. If you lost or did not receive your welcome email, then there are two ways to locate your Linden Home: On the Second Life website:Log in using your Second Life username and password. Go to your Account Dashboard. On the left, click Land Manager. Click My Mainland. Look for the name of the Linden Home that you chose when you registered. Click the link in the Location column to teleport there. Inworld:Login to Second Life with the Second Life Viewer Choose World > My land holdings... Select the parcel that matches your chosen Linden Home name. Click Teleport. You will be teleported to your Linden Home. BTW, Your Caps key is stuck. Fix it quickly so people don't think that you are SHOUTING and being rude. :smileywink:

There are several possibilites. One of the best ones -- often overlooked -- is that you have your Maximum Bandwidth (in Preferences) set too high. Many people seem to think that they will get more bandwidth and less lag if they move the Maximum Bandwidth slider farther to the right. That's true, up to a point. For most people, that point is about 70% to 80% of their own download bandwidth --- for most people, about 1200 to 1500 Kbps. After that, increasing the Maximum Bandwidth setting can cause problems. Here's why .... The Maximum Bandwidth slider is controlling how much of your available bandwidth can be used for basic functions in SL. Those basic functions include rendering images, communications, and carrying information about the shapes and positions of objects. They do NOT include streaming media and Voice. Suppose that your Internet connection has a download speed of 1,600Kbps. You set your Maximum Bandwidth to 1,200Kbps, so that's as much of your 1,600 as SL can use for basic functions. That leaves 400 Kbps for Voice and steaming media (music, video...). No problem. However, suppose that your Internet connection is actually much slower than that. (You're on a wireless connection -- bad idea -- or your ISP is just having a bad day.) Your Maximum Bandwidth setting is still 1,200Kbps but say that you only have 1,200 available. ALL of it will be used for basic functions, because that's what the Maximum Bandwidth setting does. There would be nothing left for Voice and music, so it would keep cutting out on you. So what's the cure? Lower your Maximum Bandwidth so that it is normally about 70% to 80% of your connection's download speed (check at http://www.speedtest.net/) . If you're having a bad music day, lower it some more. Not less than about 800 Kbps, because then you really will start to get noticeable lag, but enough to get the music back. If you get a great Internet connection like I do, you can pump it up to 2,000 Kbps without losing music. Any higher than that and you're exceeding what SL's servers can deliver, so there's not much point.
  12. I have never been a Premium member, but I have a wonderful home on about 1/4 of a private sim, where I have rented for over two years. We're all renters in SL. The only real question is whether you rent from Linden Lab or from another SL resident, as I do.
  13. It can sometimes take anywhere from a few minutes to a day or more for your items to be delivered. Not that it helps now, but to remember for the future: (1) Don't overuse the shopping cart. It is easily confused if you put more than a couple of things in it. This has nothing to do with Magic Boxes, so it will continue to be a problem even with the new Direct Delivery system. (2) Don't buy things from Marketplace (especially LOTS of things) unless you are in world to receive them at the time. We each have an "in box" that holds IMs, notecards, group notices, group invitations, and anything that is delivered to us if we aren't in world at the time. That "in box" can only hold 25 things, total. If anything else comes in, it isn't saved. It is gone ... poof .... forever. If you have a mess of things delivered from Marketplace and half your friends send you notecards, that in box will be capped and you will never know what happened. Most merchants are very kind and willing to redeliver. This happens all the time and they are aware of it. Just send a polite request, including all details of your purchase, copied from your Transaction History. Do be patient, though. Not everyone logs in to SL every day or checks their e-mail. If you still haven't heard in another day or two, follow it up with a second polite note and finally, if you STILL haven't heard, file a support ticket at https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ , selecting Marketplace from the pulldown menu.
  14. A group may receive income, for example if it sells an object deeded to the group or rents out group-owned land. Such income is referred to as a group dividend. Group dividends are distributed equally among all group members who have the Pay group liabilities and receive group dividends ability associated with their role. Likewise, all group liabilities are also spread evenly among group members with this ability. If no one else in the group has this ability, then group liabilities and dividends are paid to the group's owner. If there are no enabled accounts in the group that have the Pay group liabilities and receive group dividends ability, then liabilities and dividends are spread evenly between group members. See more and a video at http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Creating-managing-moderating-and-disbanding-groups/ta-p/700111#Section_.7
  15. Thanks. Not many people take the time to say a kind word. We appreciate it.
  16. Interesting. It's there in Firestorm, so I assumed it must be in V3 as well, Innula. If that's deliberate, it's an odd omission.
  17. Profiles have been flaky for a couple of days. I don't think it's Firestorm, because web profiles have occasionally been inaccessible too. Mice in the servers.
  18. That's a communication problem between your computer and SL's servers. Information about your appearance has to be "baked" onto your avatar on your own computer, saved there, and then uploaded to SL before it's fully visible there. If the necessary information is messed up in transmission, you may end up with a borked file on your computer, or SL's servers may end up with a borked image. Either way, your av's appearance defaults to a fluffy cloud. What works to repair the damage for one person won't necessarily work for the next person, and it may not be the same thing that works for you tomorrow. See the full list of possibilities here >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/doku.php?id=fs_bake_fail . Start with the simple things at the top of the list and work down until you find what works for you today. You may find that the bake fail problem comes back repeatedly, even after you fix it with one of the suggestions on that wiki page. If so, you have a chronically weak Internet connection. There are many steps to take for repairing it. Perhaps the simplest ones -- ones that work best for most people -- are: (1) Don't Use WIRELESS. Wireless connections are inherently less stable than direct cable connections and are more vulnerable to interference. Then, (2) Reboot your router. Unplug it from the power for a few minutes to let it clear its RAM. The plug it back in and let it get a fresh hold on an IP address.
  19. That is definitely a scam, a phishing operation. Do NOT click on the link. You could be giving someone else access to your account. See here for a warning about current phishing scams >>> http://www.phoenixviewer.com/ BTW, we are not mods. No Lindens here, just SL residents like you.
  20. You'll have to ask someone else who is using the same system. That's a commercial HUD, so only the creator and people who have experience with it are likely to know. BTW, your CAPS lock is stuck. Some people interpret shouting as rudeness.
  21. Quoting the Phoenix/Firestorm development team here .... "As of this writing, no version of Phoenix supports the Merchant Outbox; merchants will need to use Firestorm to submit their products to the SL Marketplace. The folder may exist in your inventory, but it will be non-functional." ETA: The most recent word is that Linden Lab will allow merchants to continue using Magic Boxes until probably June, at which point they will be phased out.
  22. Linden Lab does not generally accept prepaid cards of any kind. See >> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Billing/ta-p/700037#Section_.10.8 .... "A common cause of payment method failure is the use of unsupported card types. At this time, the majority of prepaid cards are not compatible with our system, even if they bear the VISA/AMEX/Mastercard logo. This includes cards purchased at retail stores, rechargeable credit cards, and bank-issued check cards."
  23. Do NOT respond to it. That is a phishing scam. If you respond by clicking on the link, you may end up giving someone else access to your account. See the phishing warning here >>> http://www.phoenixviewer.com/ If your password really HAS been changed, follow these instructions ......... Your account may have been compromised if: You can't access your account. You suddenly notice a reduced available balance on the payment source you have on file. If this happens, contact us immediately! Here's what to do: Go to the Second LIfe Help page and log in if you can. If you can't access your account, use the Forgot your login information? link on the right to recover your username and reset your password. Then log in. On the Second LIfe Help page page, click the Contact Support link on the right. On the next page, click Submit a a Support Case form. Under What type of problem are you having?, select Account Issue. A second dropdown appears. Under Account Issue, select I believe my account has been compromised. Fill in the rest of the fields as directed. Click Submit. Check your email for your case number. Call our fraud number: 800-860-6990. Once you do this, Linden Lab will place your account on hold and investigate the relevant transactions. This may take a few days. Once we have concluded the investigation, we'll send you an email explaining our conclusion and the action we will take. Note that all transactions involving Linden dollars are subject to Linden Lab's Terms of Service.
