  1. If you are a bouncer and you use any "defensive" or "attack" tools except for the power to eject or ban, then you will be in violation of the TOS and can be sanctioned --- possibly banned from SL. I advise you to only use tools like that in a RP area where all other people have agreed that they are acceptable.
  2. Just pay for it. Tier is automatic. If you buy more land than the maximum number of sq m in the tier you currently occupy (the 512 sq m tier), then you are automatically in the next one up. Your land fees jump up accordingly. How much? See >>> https://secondlife.com/my/account/landfees.php?
Basically, you are looking for a dialog-driven script in which each of the button choices swaps out the textures on two or three prims (or faces) in your object. You could certainly write a script to do that -- or someone could. As Peter says, there are a zillion texture changing scripts loose in the world. If you have a mild sense of adventure, you could modify one. Take a look at https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/DialogMenus to get a feel for what's involved. If you are not familiar with LSL scripting at all, you should probably post a note in the Wanted forum to attract a scripter who will write it for you.
  5. Val's right. Corel Painter is not adequate for anything but the most basic texturing you'll have to handle in SL. You can make signs and simple "slide show" textures as JPEG files with even something as simple as your word processor or PowerPoint, of course, but that's about it. You need a graphics program that can handle layers and channels, so that you are able to deal properly with transparency and with anything more than the simplest designs. Most creators in SL use one of the big three: Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, or GIMP. (Photoshop Elements also works, but it's a pale substitute for one of the others.) GIMP is free but has a quirky UI that takes some getting used to. (What doesn't, though?). Photoshop is pricey, but extremely versatile.
  6. After you have created the Received Items folder in your inventory and have thus initiated your Merchant Outbox, you need to log off. Then, when you log back in again the Merchant Outbox should be alive and ready to send things to your Marketplace store. (Unless you are using Phoenix, which does not have a functioning Merchant Outbox, despite appearances. Use V3 or Firestorm.)
  7. I think Innula's got the right idea. Area Search does put a big demand on the sim's servers, so it's easy to see how they might spike and dump your connection. This is one for the Firestorm developers to watch. I'm sure that Ansariel is aware now. BTW, resetting the system clock shouldn't do anything at all.
  9. That's because you have the particles set to follow you. You want them to NOT follow you but to stay where they were rezzed. You are the one that's supposed to move, not the particles.
  10. Look at the bar at the extreme top of your viewer screen to see your location. It will tell you what sim you are on at the moment, and will report your location with three numbers <X, Y, Z>. Your "level" or "altitude" is the Z number. If that's not what you're looking for, click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT. Please do NOT start a new thread.
  11. Mess with PSYS_PART_MAX_AGE and PSYS_SRC_BURST_RATE and PSYS_SRC_BURST_PART_COUNT . And visit the Particle Laboratory in world, as suggested. You can learn a lot in an afternoon if you take the time to play through all of the tutorials.
  12. This sounds like a great candidate for the Firestorm JIRA. I just looked there myself and didn't see any reported issue like yours. Especially if you have good documentation that might help FS developers zero in on a solution, that's probably your best bet.
  13. It means that you uploaded a texture, a sound file, or an animation to Second Life from your own computer. Whenever you upload one of those, you are charged L$10 ( about 4 cents). See http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Uploading-assets/ta-p/700165
  14. I think the only way to sort this one out is to file a support ticket. Whether you are a Basic or Premium member, you can choose the Account Issue option to explain your problem.
  15. It's on random ones, but curiously NOT on the TOS itself. I have asked Linden Lab for a clarification.
  16. Declare yourself to be one. That's all there is to it. Remember, it's all role play. If you want to learn how other people act like midwives, join a group of like-minded people and find out.
  17. Oh *&()$!! That really cramps my style. Paraphrasing is just not good enough, and we can;t trust the OP to always find exactly the spot we are pointing him/her to.
  18. Log in. You cannot transfer funds to another person unless you are in Second Life.
  19. You won't get a response from a Linden here. This is a resident-to-resident forum. Lindens never come here. You appear to be on shaky ground, so be very careful. Paraphrasing here......the Age Play Policy says that placing avatars that look like minors anywhere near sex equipment is a violation of Community Standards. The best advice is probably the bottom line in that same policy: (again, paraphrasing ....) If you have to ask if you should be doing it, please don't. ETA: I hate paraphrasing. Please read the policy yourself and see what it really says. :smileywink:
  20. In addition to Peggy's suggestion, which is probably right on target, you may also be suffering from a quirky version of https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7540? . If so, there's a quick cure. Find anyone -- preferably a stranger :smileytongue: -- and mute him/her. (You may unmute the person later if you wish, but that's not truly necessary.) It makes no sense, but that simple act has cleared the IM problem for many people.
  21. I disagree. This forum is here for people who want to learn to script, or who have scripting insights to share. Ignorance does not disqualify a person from asking, and it certainly does not mean that we should tell someone that their question is not worth answering. I refer people who expect free scripts or custom work to the Wanted or Inworld Employment forums routinely, but will gladly offer help to someone who genuinely wants to learn. If you do not care to help, I of course respect your decision.
  22. It's hard to help until you show us what you've done so far so we have some idea where the problem is. If you haven't started yet, take a look at https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlStartAnimation and https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlRezAtRoot You'll need to use both functions in your script, so reading how to handle them and looking at a few examples on those pages will give you a start. If you actually need help with making the animation, not just activating it, you'll need to ask in the Animation forum. We don't do that here.
  23. Innula Zenovka wrote: I am open to correction here -- and I hope I'm mistaken -- but I think you're going to need two scripts for this: one to hold the debit permissions and one to handle the animation permissions whenever someone sits on the ride. Otherwise you'll keep on losing the debit permissions. Right. The two scripts can pass linked messages back and forth, of course, but the one that collects L$ needs to hold your PERMISSION_DEBIT and not lose it with each new rider.
  24. If you are getting that DNS error message, it's because your viewer and SL's servers have temporarily lost the ability to talk to each other. Unless there's a problem with the servers (Always check http://status.secondlifegrid.net/ first), it's probably something on your end. So.... (1) Try shutting off your computer, unplugging the router and modem for a couple of minutes, and then plugging them back in and restarting. That simple step may clear up everything (2) Change your DNS settings from whatever your ISP assigns you as a default. Use Google's free public DNS servers instead. Here's how >>> http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/ (3) If things are STILL messed up, contact your ISP. Maybe they are working on their Internet connections. Mine go down for about 20 minutes once a month or so while they are vacuuming dust out of their servers, or whatever they do.
  25. I assume that you have filed multiple Abuse Reports by now. If not, you should have. That's always the proper way to respond. Include transcripts of the chat spam in the report so it's clear when the abuse occurred and who sent it. If the device is truly spamming you in local chat, then other people around you can hear it as well, so I would encourage you to have any friends who have heard it file their own Abuse Reports. Incidentally, if you are getting this spam no matter where you are, and if it really is local chat and not IM, the spamming device must be attached to you. Go to your inventory, click the WORN tab, and detach anything that looks vaguely unfamiliar. File an Abuse Report on it too.
