  1. I think the only way to sort this one out is to file a support ticket. Whether you are a Basic or Premium member, you can choose the Account Issue option to explain your problem.
  2. It's on random ones, but curiously NOT on the TOS itself. I have asked Linden Lab for a clarification.
  3. Declare yourself to be one. That's all there is to it. Remember, it's all role play. If you want to learn how other people act like midwives, join a group of like-minded people and find out.
  4. Oh *&()$!! That really cramps my style. Paraphrasing is just not good enough, and we can;t trust the OP to always find exactly the spot we are pointing him/her to.
  5. Log in. You cannot transfer funds to another person unless you are in Second Life.
  6. You won't get a response from a Linden here. This is a resident-to-resident forum. Lindens never come here. You appear to be on shaky ground, so be very careful. Paraphrasing here......the Age Play Policy says that placing avatars that look like minors anywhere near sex equipment is a violation of Community Standards. The best advice is probably the bottom line in that same policy: (again, paraphrasing ....) If you have to ask if you should be doing it, please don't. ETA: I hate paraphrasing. Please read the policy yourself and see what it really says. :smileywink:
  7. In addition to Peggy's suggestion, which is probably right on target, you may also be suffering from a quirky version of https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7540? . If so, there's a quick cure. Find anyone -- preferably a stranger :smileytongue: -- and mute him/her. (You may unmute the person later if you wish, but that's not truly necessary.) It makes no sense, but that simple act has cleared the IM problem for many people.
  8. I disagree. This forum is here for people who want to learn to script, or who have scripting insights to share. Ignorance does not disqualify a person from asking, and it certainly does not mean that we should tell someone that their question is not worth answering. I refer people who expect free scripts or custom work to the Wanted or Inworld Employment forums routinely, but will gladly offer help to someone who genuinely wants to learn. If you do not care to help, I of course respect your decision.
  9. It's hard to help until you show us what you've done so far so we have some idea where the problem is. If you haven't started yet, take a look at https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlStartAnimation and https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlRezAtRoot You'll need to use both functions in your script, so reading how to handle them and looking at a few examples on those pages will give you a start. If you actually need help with making the animation, not just activating it, you'll need to ask in the Animation forum. We don't do that here.
  10. Innula Zenovka wrote: I am open to correction here -- and I hope I'm mistaken -- but I think you're going to need two scripts for this: one to hold the debit permissions and one to handle the animation permissions whenever someone sits on the ride. Otherwise you'll keep on losing the debit permissions. Right. The two scripts can pass linked messages back and forth, of course, but the one that collects L$ needs to hold your PERMISSION_DEBIT and not lose it with each new rider.
  11. If you are getting that DNS error message, it's because your viewer and SL's servers have temporarily lost the ability to talk to each other. Unless there's a problem with the servers (Always check http://status.secondlifegrid.net/ first), it's probably something on your end. So.... (1) Try shutting off your computer, unplugging the router and modem for a couple of minutes, and then plugging them back in and restarting. That simple step may clear up everything (2) Change your DNS settings from whatever your ISP assigns you as a default. Use Google's free public DNS servers instead. Here's how >>> http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/ (3) If things are STILL messed up, contact your ISP. Maybe they are working on their Internet connections. Mine go down for about 20 minutes once a month or so while they are vacuuming dust out of their servers, or whatever they do.
  12. I assume that you have filed multiple Abuse Reports by now. If not, you should have. That's always the proper way to respond. Include transcripts of the chat spam in the report so it's clear when the abuse occurred and who sent it. If the device is truly spamming you in local chat, then other people around you can hear it as well, so I would encourage you to have any friends who have heard it file their own Abuse Reports. Incidentally, if you are getting this spam no matter where you are, and if it really is local chat and not IM, the spamming device must be attached to you. Go to your inventory, click the WORN tab, and detach anything that looks vaguely unfamiliar. File an Abuse Report on it too.
  13. Don't forget to wear the watch. Otherwise, it won't r3ez when you do (or de-rez when you do).
  14. Those aren't desgnations that make any difference to the average user. They refer to the server that your sim is assigned to at the moment. Since sim are reassigned to servers on a semi-random basis every once in a while, there's nothing permenent about the one yours has right now.

    snowglobe?

Nope. With your account, you may use any approved viewer you wish. See here >>> http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Third_Party_Viewer_Directory for a full list of excellent Third Party Viewers. Some may work better than others if you are using a small or older machine, so try a few to see what you like best. Just remember to keep their cache locations separate so you don't bung up those files by mixing viewer data.
  16. NEVER do that. It's not only unwise to ever let someone have access to your account, but it's a violation of the TOS that you agreed to when you became a SL member (TOS Sect. 3.1: "You may not transfer or assign your Account and its contractual rights, licenses and obligations, to any third party without the prior written consent of Linden Lab.") At this point, your best move is to change the password. Go to your dashboard at secondlife.com and look in Account >> Change Password. If your ex-friend has already changed the password so you can't get in, follow this procedure ..... Your account may have been compromised if: You can't access your account. You suddenly notice a reduced available balance on the payment source you have on file. If this happens, contact us immediately! Here's what to do: Go to the Second LIfe Help page and log in if you can. If you can't access your account, use the Forgot your login information? link on the right to recover your username and reset your password. Then log in. On the Second LIfe Help page page, click the Contact Support link on the right. On the next page, click Submit a a Support Case form. Under What type of problem are you having?, select Account Issue. A second dropdown appears. Under Account Issue, select I believe my account has been compromised. Fill in the rest of the fields as directed. Click Submit. Check your email for your case number. Call our fraud number: 800-860-6990. Once you do this, Linden Lab will place your account on hold and investigate the relevant transactions. This may take a few days. Once we have concluded the investigation, we'll send you an email explaining our conclusion and the action we will take. Note that all transactions involving Linden dollars are subject to Linden Lab's Terms of Service.
  17. It's late to tell you this now, but you almost certainly didn't need to delete your viewer just because your "character" (your Avatar) wouldn't load. That's a common enough problem that everyone has it at one time or another. If it ever happens again, see >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_bake_fail Now... chances are prertty good that you messed up one or more of your user settings files when you reinstalled the viewer. If you simply remove the viewer's EXE file (or even its entire folder) from your hard drive, the settings files will still be there. Usually that's a good thing, because it means that you don't have to reset all your Preferences every time you upgrade the viewer. It those files are borked, though, you're just inheriting borked data when you reinstall. So do a "Clean Reinstall". See here >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_clean_reinstall for how to do it. While you're at it, read what Nalates has to see about doing a clean reinstall too >>> http://blog.nalates.net/2011/02/22/second-life-clean-install/
  18. Your locally cached copy of your inventory is apparnetly out of sync with the REAL copy on the SL servers, so you'll have to delete it and rebuild a new copy. The following instructions say "Firestorm" but they apply to any viewer..... Open Preferences → Network & Cache. Go to the first path “Cache Location” and click the “Open” button behind the path. This will open a file explorer window displaying your current cache location. Logout (close the viewer) and then delete everything inside the cache folder displayed in your file explorer. Should you not be able to start the viewer to bring up Preferences, then locate the folder manually. In its default location, the folder is hidden on most OSs. To find it, you will need to show hidden folders. Now you need to locate the settings folder: Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[uSERNAME]\Local Settings\Application Data\Firestorm Windows Vista: C:\Users\[uSERNAME]\AppData\Local\Firestorm Windows 7: C:\Users\[uSERNAME]\AppData\Local\Firestorm Mac: ~/Library/Caches/Firestorm linux: ~/.firestorm/cache Now continue as follows: Log back into SL, to a quiet region (try the Phoenix Support parcel or a Linden water region such as aich or hatton). On your inventory window, click “Recent Items”. Wait for your inventory to repopulate fully. The process may be sped up, if necessary, by typing random letters into the search bar. While inventory repopulates, do not teleport anywhere, and do not attempt to access anything in your inventory. Talk to people or surf the web. Watch as it repopulates. as long as you can see (Fetched…) at the top of the inventory window, it is still loading. Once inventory has repopulated, log out of SL once more, then log back in.
  19. Your viewer and SL's servers have temporarily lost the ability to talk to each other because there are squirrels on the line.
  20. It's tempting to just say to use Develop (Ctrl-Alt-Q to activate) → Avatar → Character Tests → Test Male/Female , but it would be really nice to know why you want to do this. If you are trying to solve some problem, there may be a better solution than that. If you just want to change your shape or skin, for example, you don't have to rebuild from scratch to do it. Just wear a different one from your inventory -- perhaps the one you saved in your emeregency folder for just such an occasion.
  21. You didn't give us much to go on, so it's almost impossible to tell you what to do next. When you ask a technical question, you need to provide some basic information. What kind of computer are you using? What graphics card? What operating system? What sort of Internet connection? Which SL viewer are you using? Exactly what error message are you getting, and exactly when? Click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT to add imporant information. Please do NOT start a new thread.
  22. You may choose to withdraw your US dollar balance via PayPal or bank wire. Note: Use a bank wire only under the following circumstances:PayPal will not permit payments to your country. You are expecting payment of $10,000 or more. Those are your only choices. For more information, see http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Account-balance/ta-p/700015#Section_.2
  23. Post your question in the Wanted forum. That's always a good place to start when you're trying to find something or want something made for you. Don't expect free for a custom script, though. You get what you pay for. :smileywink:
  24. rez: v.t.,To create or to make an object appear inworld. To rez an object, drag it from your inventory or create a new one using the Build window, or by using the function llRezObject or llRezAtRoot in a script. You must have permission to create objects at the location in world where you want to rez them.
  25. If you are in an area where you are allowed to rez them. :smileywink:
