  1. Of course it's widespread. That's why there's a message in the grid status report. ;=)

Doppelte Nachricht. :smileywink:
  3. It's always a good idea to check the grid status, especially when the message says to check the grid status. :smileywink:
  4. Peter has nailed it, as usual. If you want that tatoo on only one arm, you'll have to make a prim arm (or at least a sleeve of some kind to fit over your real arm). Your avatar only has one arm, so its left is a mirror image of its right, or vice versa. There is no way around it other than creating your own mesh av.
  5. Alternative to Peter's advice..... Use Firestorm and upload test images for free. ETA: Other thoughts about the images themselves ... 1. NEVER enlarge. Always downsize. Start with a large image (1024 x 1024 pixels or larger) and shrink before upload. 2. Always make your upload image sizes match required SL dimensions (powers of 2 --- 128, 256, 512 ). Don't expect SL's servers to downsize and re-dimension them correctly for you. 3. Use contrasting backgrounds (Black on white, not emerald on teal....) 4. Avoid using Photoshop's Sharpen filter, but do consider using a very tiny, sharp drop shadow sparingly. That can make your lettering stand up from the background and look a bit sharper. 5. Display text-laden images on prims that are proportioned exactly the same way as your original image, not stretched.
  6. Certainly. See http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/DialogMenus
  7. It's a two-step process. 1. Create a new group and make yourself and your partner co-owners (or make her an officer if you want her to have slightly limited powers.... :smileytongue: ) See http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Creating-managing-moderating-and-disbanding-groups/ta-p/700111 if you don't know how to do this. 2. Stand in your Linden Home and click World >> About Land >> General. Then click the button that says "Set..." and highlight the name of your new group. That will set your home to the group (not Deed it, which is a different matter and you can't do with a Linden Home anyway.) Then all you need to do is be sure that the Options in About Land are set to allow group members to rez things and bring things into the parcel.

Study http://community.secondlife.com/t5/LSL-Library/Generic-Whitelist/td-p/713895 as an example. If you know absolutely nothing about LSL, you'll probably need to start by working through some of the tutorials at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LSL_Tutorial first. The job you are contemplating is not particularly difficult, but you'll have to work up to it.
  9. You can't. If you emptied the trash, you should have seen a warning message that tells you things are about to disappear permanently. Once you click OK and empty your trash bin, its contents are gone forever.
  10. Certificate Authority doesn't have anything to do with SL, but your ISP or some security program on your computer may be checking to be sure that SL is a reliable application that it should allow access to.
  11. Linden Home land can't be group-owned. But if your personal Resident account is eligible for Linden Home land, you can set the land to a group to collaborate with other group members. Open World >> About Land >> General. There's a button marked Set. (Not Deed, because you can't do that.) Click it and choose the group you want to set the land to (presumably a group that you have created for exactly that purpose.) Then you just have to be sure to invite your alt to be a group member -- probably a co-owner.
  12. No, there's no way you can keep it from drifting over your property line, same as in RL. You'll have to work that out with your neighbor. As you have already discovered, particles will go right through any barrier, too, so there's no way to wall them out (unlike RL). You can shut them off completely, of course, by typing CTRL + Shift + Alt + = , but that will turn off all particles, including your own. It also affects only what you see in your own viewer. Any visitor will still seee the particles unless she, too, shuts them down.
  13. There's really no point in posting this here unless you have a question of some kind. This is a resident to resident forum. None of us are Lindens and no Linden ever comes here. We cannot do anything at all for your situation.
  14. I can think of two arguments for not regularly posting full scripts here. 1. This forum has been for years a place where people come to learn how to script and to share scripting insights with other scripters. If people come to expect that this is instead a place to come for free scripts, we risk losing the serious scripters. Heaven knows, enough of them have left for other reasons over the years already. 2. Many (most?) of the regulars in this forum write custom scripts on commission. If we give our work away for free, we don't typically do it in a public forum where that would cut some other scripter out of a potential job. I'm not so worried about us, of course, because we are generally writing scripts that are more complex than anything posted here. Still, there are plenty of other scripters who hope to get small commisions from people who post requests in the Wanted forum. Out of fairness to them, we ought to refer non-scripters there. Neither of those arguments is airtight, so I don't see much wrong with posting an occasional full script. We have had some good discussions about different ways to write simple door scripts or vendors, prompted by a question by some non-scripter. Also, some things like llGiveInventory scripts are just so tiny that anyone ought to be embarrassed to write them for pay. If we use our judgment and post a few full scripts when they strike us as intellectually interesting or just fun, nothing is lost. Still, there's something to be said for preserving the educational and professional(?) nature of this forum. After all, there are plenty of other places to go for full freebie scripts. BTW, I am not at all sympathetic to the argument that only "real" scripters ought to write scripts. People become "real" scripters by learning from others, so I think we should always welcome questions from people who come here to sharpen their skills. In fact, we ought to be willing to post occasional full scripts for people like that, as examples of how it can be done right.
  15. Innula's right. Anti-virus routines (especially Norton) frequently misidentify SL viewers as threats. You can whitelist SL in your anti-virus program very easily, though. See >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/antivirus_whitelisting
  16. Double check to be sure. A brand new computer may have drivers that are several months old already. Always download drivers from the manufacturer, not the company that made your computer. Intel does not have a universal driver set. Please go to Intel's site and select the appropriate download >>> Intel driver download page Incidentally, the problem may not be the drivers at all. Intel's integrated graphics chips have given many SL residents trouble, so we get common complaints about them. They don't handle this intense graphics environment as well as separate graphics cards.
  17. The "big setup, not the starter one?" Ummmm.. There's only one. That's why I asked before.
  18. Phil Deakins wrote: &Rolig:- I was refering to the "LSL Wiki" site, not the LL's LSL wiki. PRIM_ROT_LOCAL isn't to be found in the LSL Wiki site. [...] Ah, well that old wiki site hasn't changed since it was locked several years ago. You'll never see PRIM_ROT_LOCAL or any of the newer functions there. Some of the old descriptions are helpful, but I wouldn't rely on it for anything definitive today.
  19. PRIM_ROT_LOCAL has been in the LSL wiki since at least last spring (2011), and PRIM_POS_LOCAL was added shortly after that. See http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlSetLinkPrimitiveParamsFast and http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/PRIM_ROT_LOCAL (and http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/PRIM_POS_LOCAL).
  20. I'm not sure exactly what you mean. The owner can always eject anyone from the group, and nobody can ever eject an owner --- even another owner. The owner can give the power to "eject from group" to any role, including the role of officer. Just open the group page, click the Members & Roles >> Roles tab, and select the roll you're interested in ("Officer" in this case). Put a check in the box next to "Eject Members From This Group" and it's done.
  21. It sounds like you have a major connection problem, and you may have a firewall blocking some of your viewer's functions. To deal with the firewall issue, take a look at >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Using-Second-Life-with-a-firewall/ta-p/1304539 That might clear up several problems right away. For the connectivity issues, first of all get off wireless, if that's what you have been using. Many people have serious problems using wireless in SL. There's just too much interference from everything from cell phones and garage door openers to fluorescent light fixtures. Beyond that, you'll have to do some sleuthing. Start with Nalates' blog entry here >>> http://blog.nalates.net/2011/10/26/troubleshoot-your-sl-connection/ Her diagnostic suggestions should help narrow down the possible issues and tell you how to beat them.
  22. If River's right and a clean reinstall will cure it, that's great. See how to do a clean reinstall here >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_clean_reinstall . The instructions were written by the fine team at Firestorm but can be used for any viewer witn very minor, obvious modifications.
  23. I suggest you contact the person who created the dog (or read the owner's manual that came with it). You're asking a question that only the creator can answer confidently.
  24. I rent a home on a sim so whenver I go home I switch to that tag. If ever I place an item without the tag on the item is returned in 3-5 minutes to my lost and found. Well, that part's normal. That's what is supposed to happen. It's a way to prevent anyone but group members from rezzing stuff there. SL can't tell whether you're a group member if you aren't wearing the tag. When I moved to a bigger house all of my furniture except a few things were completely lost. I checked every folder, searched the land, and then double checked all folders. Did you look for coalesced items in your inventory? They are clumps of objects that were all picked up together as a single entity. You'll recognize a coalesced object by the inventory icon that looks like a little stack of bricks. See >> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Building-tips/ta-p/700041#Section_.1 Recently I "arrested" a kid and then my couches went missing and are no where to be found on the sim or in my inventory. I'm not sure what this means. You "arrested" someone? How did you do that? (Not that it makes any difference, because it has nothing to do with missing objects.) This is the SECOND time that it has happened, and I don't remember if I left the deeds on so my daughter could move things for in home pranks or if something is really wrong. If you let the Everyone box checked in About Land >> Options, then everyone can rez things, but they can't take your things. I'll bet on coalesced objects, but just in case, read this >>> http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Inventory_loss and this >>> http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Finding_lost_objects
  25. See the example script in the LSL wiki at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlGiveInventoryList , which does exactly what you are asking about.
