  1. Wow! How did you know that was the question? I'm still staring at it and I can't see that. You're GOOD.
  2. Could you rephrase your question, please? I don't understand what you are asking. If English is not the language you speak at home, you may write your question in your own language. We will do our best to translate it here. Click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT to add more information. Please do NOT start a new thread.
  3. Don't worry about the SKU. That's an optional code that merchants can add to the description of whatever they sell, for tracking purposes. If you are in a country that collects VAT on sales, for example, you may need a code to categorize different types of items. Version is also a merchant option --- a code that you can use to let people who may have bought your item earlier know that the one you are selling now has been upgraded somehow. When I sell a dress that I have redesigned or a scripted object that has new bells and whistles, I declare the new version to be v2, for example. Most people leave both SKU and Version blank in Marketplace listings.
  4. If you are a Premium member, file a support ticket at https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ . If you are not, and if those inventory items are truly important to you, you might consider becoming a Premium member for at least a month so that you have access to that option or to Live Chat. Otherwise, your only other option is to try clearing cache again and letting your local copy of inventory rebuild slowly in a quiet sim like Smith or Pooley.
  5. Transfer permission doesn't affect your ability to put things into your own inventory or take them out again. Transfer means "give or sell to someone else." If you are unable to rez items, the problem is somewhere else. I suspect that it may have something to do with this morning's server maintenance. If that's the case, then you would be very smart to not rez anything important right now anyway. As usual when they are working on the servers, there is a warning notice that says "Please save all builds and refrain from rezzing no copy objects or making inworld L$ transactions. Some residents may experience delays logging inworld." EDIT: Ah.. I misunderstood your problem. I thought it was a rezzing issue. Sorry about that. Innula's right, then. You should never have removed the scripts in the first place. Having done it, though, your only option now is to explain everything to the creator and hope you can get a new copy. I don't like no-copy versions of things for precisely that reason. You have no backup in case strange disasters strike.
  6. You may find that the bake fail problem comes back repeatedly, even after you fix it with one of the suggestions on the excellent wiki page that Ansariel recommended. If so, you have a chronically weak Internet connection. There are many steps to take for repairing it. Perhaps the simplest ones -- ones that work best for most people -- are: (1) Don't Use WIRELESS. Wireless connections are inherently less stable than direct cable connections and are more vulnerable to interference. Then, (2) Reboot your router. Unplug it from the power for a few minutes to let it clear its RAM. Then plug it back in and let it get a fresh hold on an IP address.
  7. I'm sure that if you were clever enough, you could design a follower to create a machinima video as you move around. It would be horribly impractical to do more than a few occasional short clips, though, because it would take huge amounts of storage space to save much more than that.
  8. Vladan Highwater wrote: Thank you. I need this function because I'm not the owner of the ball, so I can't edit it. I just kick it The best plan, therefore, is to get a new ball that you can edit. Balls are very easy to find in SL, and they are inexpensive. Get one and write a short script for it as Ela and Peter have described. I would probably use llApplyImpulse if I were doing it, rather than llPushObject, but you could try both and see what you like best.
  9. It's very hard to get arms and legs to move realistically as you move a pet (or yourself!). There's always a degree of wooden stiffness -- a cartoon-like appearance. There are sophisticated animation tools for working with avatars, so we can do fairly well with them. Pets are a different matter, though, because each one is different --- a custom creation. One popular tool for the job is Puppeteer, which is free and available in Marketplace >>> https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Puppeteer-Free-Edition/176832 . You might want to watch this tutorial to get a feel for how it works >>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0GEdeU__1w You shouldn't expect to get the sort of fluid motion that avatar animators get with their mo-cap software, but with practice you ought to be able to get something that looks goood.
  10. If the crash logger keeps appearing every time you try to log in, it's possible that you have a borked file of user settings on your computer. User settings are saved in the local and roaming folders in AppData, so they will persist if you decide to reinstall or upgrade your viewer. That's probably what you ought to do. In this case, though you don't want those settings to persist, so you'll have to do a clean reinstall, which will wipe them out and let you start fresh. Read here about how to do that >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_clean_reinstall Those instructions are written for Firestorm users, but will work for any of the Sl viewers with some very small, obvious modifications.
  11. Those are all very good questions. I doubt that anyone knows the answers, so all you can do is wait and see. A sim owner can communicate directly with Linden Lab when there are problems with a sim. In this case, he ought to be able to request a rollback, which would restore the sim to its previous condition. There are many side-effects of a rollback, however, so the result isn't always what you might like. Take a look here to see what I mean >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Managing-Private-Regions/ta-p/700115#Section_.8.1
  12. I asked a simple set of polite questions in order to help you find a solution, as I have done with hundreds of other people here and in world for many years, and as I did with college freshmen for a lifetime. Smugness is not in my style. I do hope that you find an answer to your problem. It must be frustrating and I sympathize.
  13. We ask for information about an OP's computer and Internet connection when questions like yours arise bcause that's where the source of the problem lies in nine out of ten cases. Some people naturally assume that because they have no trouble playing WoW or browsing the web, they must have a perfect computer. SL places many more demands on your graphics card than on-line games do and it expects a continuous flow of data between your computer and its servers. As a result, it is much more vulnerable to packet loss and bandwidth leakage, and to transient problems in your router. We also are aware that some brands of routers have chronic problems with SL's environment, and that wireless systems are particularly flaky. Asking for information about your system is therefore our best way to find a solution.
  14. If you open the Recent tab in inventory and click the tiny gear symbol in the exterme lower left corner, you'll get a short menu. Select Show Filters to open the filter window, then decide how many hours or days you want to look back at. Once the filter is set, you'll see everything that was added to your inventory during that period.
  15. When you have a technical problem, it's always wise to at least say something about what computer you are using, which operating system it has, and what graphics card. It would be helpful to know what viewer you are using. If you have been logged out then you didn't crash,so it would be good to know exactly what error messages you are getting (not just "it says I have been logged out.") Anything would be helpful. Click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT. Please do NOT start a new thread.
  16. Blocked? You mean banned by Linden Lab? You should have received an e-mail with instructions about how to appeal a ban, if that is what happened. Check your spam filter to be sure it hasn't hung up. You don't need to log in the SL to view a case ticket. You obviously logged in here. To get to support and view your case history, click Help at the top of this page and then click Contact Support. If that's not what you meant, click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT. Please do NOT start a new thread.
  17. It sounds like you have a severe connection problem. If things you type aren't appearing instantly, they aren't getting through the Internet to SL's servers very fast. Open your Statistics Bar (CTRL+Shift+1) and look at two important numbers, very near the top of the display. Your Packet Loss number should be very close to zero, and certainly no higher than a few tenths of a percent. If it's any higher, you are losing data and SL is getting only parts of what you send. Your Ping Sim number should be less than about 150ms -- ideally much less. That's a measure of how long it takes data to make it from your computer to SL's servers. The longer it takes, the more sluggish your system will be. The usual culprits are your router and your connection itself (please say that you aren't using wireless). I suggest that you read Nalates's blog for suggestion about how to deal with these and other connection issues .>> http://blog.nalates.net/2011/10/26/troubleshoot-your-sl-connection/ and then take a look at the Knowledge Base for other suggestions >>> http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-improve-Viewer-performance/ta-p/1316923
  18. You probably had some ongoing obligation for tier, group liabilities, or whatever. You can see anything that has been paid out of your account within the last 30 days by checking the Account >> Transaction History on the your dashboard at secondlife.com. There's no way to check on older transactions, unfortunately, but you can always call the billing office to see what continuing expenses are being charged. If you have a non-technical issue related to billing concerns, you can call the Linden Lab billing team at the following toll-free numbers: US/Canada: 800-294-1067 France: 0805-101-490 Germany: 0800-664-5510 Japan: 0066-33-132-830 Portugal: 800-814-450 Spain: 800-300-560 UK: 0800-048-4646 Brazil: 0800-762-1132 Long distance ( not free, but you can use Skype to save some cost ) : 703-286-6277 **Note: Support is offered only in English
  19. Are you trying to log in with a V1 veiwer like Phoenix, maybe? If so, it's not the password's fault. You need to give your last name as well as your first name in those viewers. Your full name, for that purpose, is JewellMorrison Resident
  20. We don't either. You didn't tell us a thing about your computer or your Internet connection, so all we can do is make wild guesses. What kind of computer is it? What graphics card? I hope you're not on wireless, are you? What SL viewer are you using? What error messages are you getting, exactly? What have you tried already? You have to give us something to work with here. Click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT. Please do NOT start a new thread.
  21. Hehehe.... I forgot about that one. If you notice, though, it's an application of Void's system. I modified it to use numbered dialog buttons and put the text labels into the dialog text area.
  22. Or use Void's Dynamic Multipage Dialog system. It's very versatile and compact. I have used it in dozens of scripts and have found it easy to modify.
  23. It's impossible to tell what's wrong unless you tell us about your computer, but my guess is that your computer simply isn't up to the task of using a V3 viewer. Some aren't, especially if they are older computers or laptops with integrated graphics chips. Click on the Options link in the upper right corner of your question and select EDIT to give us more information. Please do NOT start a new thread.
  24. If Val's suggestion doesn't work for you --- it probably will -- then myguess would be a firewall issue. If your firewall is blocking outbound TCP port 12043, then teleporting, viewing the World Map, crossing regions, and related activities won't work. See Using Second Life with a firewall for more information.
  25. You're right. This question would have been much better in the LSL Scripting forum, but that's OK. The simple answer you want is the example script at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlSetLinkColor . Making it fade to the next color is more complicated than that script, but still fairly easy if you have had any practice scripting. If you want to try it, I suggest doing the fade with a timer event in which you fade first to a neutral color (either black or white) and then fade in to the new color. Just change each of the three components (R, G, B) of color vector by 10% of its value in each time step. If you get stuck and need help, post what you have done in the LSL Scripting forum.
