  1. You do need to be someplace where you have permission to rez objects >>> your own land, or land owned by a group that you belong to, or a sandbox. See loads of information in the Knowledge Base, specifically at http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Opening-boxes/ta-p/700185
  2. Click the HELP link at the top of this page and then click Contact Support, in the menu on the right side of the new page. Or navigate directly to https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/
  3. It's by design. If you deed an object to a group, you are no longer the owner, so you lose control over many abilities that you had when you owned it. You -- an officer of the group -- are not the group. If you want to make changes, the group will have to sell the object back to you. However, the group has become the second owner, so the object now has the permissions that you granted to "next owner." If you made the object No Transfer, for example, the group cannot ever sell or give the object back to you. As another example, if you made the object transferrable but No Modify, then it will still be No Mod if you ever buy it back from the group.
  4. You already asked this question and received an answer at http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Portugu%C3%AAs/if-I-buy-a-house-in-SL-also-have-to-buy-land/qaq-p/1507353. Você já fez esta pergunta e recebi uma resposta em http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Portugu%C3%AAs/if-I-buy-a-house-in-SL-also-have-to-buy-land/qaq-p/1507353.
  5. You may find that the bake fail problem comes back repeatedly, even after you fix it with one of the suggestions at http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/doku.php?id=fs_bake_fail . If so, you have a chronically weak Internet connection. There are many steps to take for repairing it. Perhaps the simplest ones -- ones that work best for most people -- are: (1) Don't Use WIRELESS. Wireless connections are inherently less stable than direct cable connections and are more vulnerable to interference. Then, (2) Reboot your router. Unplug it from the power for a few minutes to let it clear its RAM. Then plug it back in and let it get a fresh hold on an IP address.
  6. Have you tried Virtual Ability island, or Info Island? Virtual Ability is designed as a welcome gateway and has received several commendations as a safe and friendly place to start your SL experience. Info Island is the heart of the Community Virtual Library, one of the oldest libraries in SL and a friendly welcoming spot. Both sims regularly have experienced volutneeers, ready to help answer your questions about SL.

  8. As soon as you typed the word PINK in your question, you should have seen a HUGE selection of previous posts on exactly the same question. Clicking on any of them would have given you this information >>> Some people who have ATI graphics cards are having this problem with the most recent V3 upgrade. See http://jira.phoenixviewer.com/browse/FIRE-4945 . For a quick but temporary solution, go to Preferences >> Graphics and disable Basic Shaders. For a more permanent solution update the 12.1 Catalyst driver from http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx?type=2.4.2&product=2.4.2.... or run the AMD driver autodetect tool to update: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/auto_detect.aspx

  10. You'll probably do best to call the Linden Lab billing office. Billing maintenance was scheduled and announced several days ago, but you may have missed seeing it as you logged in. If you have a non-technical issue related to billing concerns, you can call the Linden Lab billing team at the following toll-free numbers: US/Canada: 800-294-1067 France: 0805-101-490 Germany: 0800-664-5510 Japan: 0066-33-132-830 Portugal: 800-814-450 Spain: 800-300-560 UK: 0800-048-4646 Brazil: 0800-762-1132 Long distance ( not free, but you can use Skype to save some cost ) : 703-286-6277 **Note: Support is offered only in English
  11. Manutenção acaba de ser concluído. Você deve ser capaz de entrar agora. Se alguma vez tiver um problema como este, não se esqueça de olhar para o estado de grade relata http://status.secondlifegrid.net/ primeiro
  12. Of course it's widespread. That's why there's a message in the grid status report. ;=)

  14. It's always a good idea to check the grid status, especially when the message says to check the grid status. :smileywink:
  15. Peter has nailed it, as usual. If you want that tatoo on only one arm, you'll have to make a prim arm (or at least a sleeve of some kind to fit over your real arm). Your avatar only has one arm, so its left is a mirror image of its right, or vice versa. There is no way around it other than creating your own mesh av.
  16. Alternative to Peter's advice..... Use Firestorm and upload test images for free. ETA: Other thoughts about the images themselves ... 1. NEVER enlarge. Always downsize. Start with a large image (1024 x 1024 pixels or larger) and shrink before upload. 2. Always make your upload image sizes match required SL dimensions (powers of 2 --- 128, 256, 512 ). Don't expect SL's servers to downsize and re-dimension them correctly for you. 3. Use contrasting backgrounds (Black on white, not emerald on teal....) 4. Avoid using Photoshop's Sharpen filter, but do consider using a very tiny, sharp drop shadow sparingly. That can make your lettering stand up from the background and look a bit sharper. 5. Display text-laden images on prims that are proportioned exactly the same way as your original image, not stretched.
  17. Certainly. See http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/DialogMenus
  18. It's a two-step process. 1. Create a new group and make yourself and your partner co-owners (or make her an officer if you want her to have slightly limited powers.... :smileytongue: ) See http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Creating-managing-moderating-and-disbanding-groups/ta-p/700111 if you don't know how to do this. 2. Stand in your Linden Home and click World >> About Land >> General. Then click the button that says "Set..." and highlight the name of your new group. That will set your home to the group (not Deed it, which is a different matter and you can't do with a Linden Home anyway.) Then all you need to do is be sure that the Options in About Land are set to allow group members to rez things and bring things into the parcel.

Study http://community.secondlife.com/t5/LSL-Library/Generic-Whitelist/td-p/713895 as an example. If you know absolutely nothing about LSL, you'll probably need to start by working through some of the tutorials at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LSL_Tutorial first. The job you are contemplating is not particularly difficult, but you'll have to work up to it.
  20. You can't. If you emptied the trash, you should have seen a warning message that tells you things are about to disappear permanently. Once you click OK and empty your trash bin, its contents are gone forever.
  21. Certificate Authority doesn't have anything to do with SL, but your ISP or some security program on your computer may be checking to be sure that SL is a reliable application that it should allow access to.
  22. Linden Home land can't be group-owned. But if your personal Resident account is eligible for Linden Home land, you can set the land to a group to collaborate with other group members. Open World >> About Land >> General. There's a button marked Set. (Not Deed, because you can't do that.) Click it and choose the group you want to set the land to (presumably a group that you have created for exactly that purpose.) Then you just have to be sure to invite your alt to be a group member -- probably a co-owner.
  23. No, there's no way you can keep it from drifting over your property line, same as in RL. You'll have to work that out with your neighbor. As you have already discovered, particles will go right through any barrier, too, so there's no way to wall them out (unlike RL). You can shut them off completely, of course, by typing CTRL + Shift + Alt + = , but that will turn off all particles, including your own. It also affects only what you see in your own viewer. Any visitor will still seee the particles unless she, too, shuts them down.
  24. There's really no point in posting this here unless you have a question of some kind. This is a resident to resident forum. None of us are Lindens and no Linden ever comes here. We cannot do anything at all for your situation.
  25. I can think of two arguments for not regularly posting full scripts here. 1. This forum has been for years a place where people come to learn how to script and to share scripting insights with other scripters. If people come to expect that this is instead a place to come for free scripts, we risk losing the serious scripters. Heaven knows, enough of them have left for other reasons over the years already. 2. Many (most?) of the regulars in this forum write custom scripts on commission. If we give our work away for free, we don't typically do it in a public forum where that would cut some other scripter out of a potential job. I'm not so worried about us, of course, because we are generally writing scripts that are more complex than anything posted here. Still, there are plenty of other scripters who hope to get small commisions from people who post requests in the Wanted forum. Out of fairness to them, we ought to refer non-scripters there. Neither of those arguments is airtight, so I don't see much wrong with posting an occasional full script. We have had some good discussions about different ways to write simple door scripts or vendors, prompted by a question by some non-scripter. Also, some things like llGiveInventory scripts are just so tiny that anyone ought to be embarrassed to write them for pay. If we use our judgment and post a few full scripts when they strike us as intellectually interesting or just fun, nothing is lost. Still, there's something to be said for preserving the educational and professional(?) nature of this forum. After all, there are plenty of other places to go for full freebie scripts. BTW, I am not at all sympathetic to the argument that only "real" scripters ought to write scripts. People become "real" scripters by learning from others, so I think we should always welcome questions from people who come here to sharpen their skills. In fact, we ought to be willing to post occasional full scripts for people like that, as examples of how it can be done right.
