  1. SL wants an error free connection more than it wants a fast one. Nalates Urriah has a blog page encompassing a lot of things that have been shown to help people over the ages... http://blog.nalates.net/2011/10/26/troubleshoot-your-sl-connection/ This may not help your particular problem, but it is instructive. Good luck, Vulpinus.
  2. Hiya ChaosRaine, Here's the Phoenix/Firestorm page for doing a manual cache clear... http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_cache_clear That may fix your problem du jour, but I'll also give you this link... http://blog.nalates.net/2011/10/26/troubleshoot-your-sl-connection/ In which Nalate's gives all kinds of helpful advice for improving the quality of your SL connection. This may have nothing to do with the initial corruption of something in your viewer cache, but if it does... Good luck!
  3. I know some real people who can't look at all convincing.
  4. Rolig's got it right, Peony. I was raised to think that answering the telephone was optional. There may have been a few people who got bent out of shape because of that attitude, but most of my friends seem to envy my ability to sit unperturbed at the dinner table while my phone hums away in my purse. Well, I'm sure they'd tell me they envied me... if I answered their calls. ;-)
  5. Hi Terisa, File an in-world Abuse Report. Put the URLs of the offending marketplace items in the "Details" section of the report window.
  6. muzaheddin wrote: How to make a Dj and dancer ? help me I've never made a DJ, though I've certainly thought about making a dancer. I think that just showing some interest in the DJ would get me at least to first base. The dancer (I'm presuming female) seems more of a challenge. Though I've contemplated that for years, I still have no plan. If you don't mind, I'll just subscribe to this thread and wait for any helpful advice that comes our way.

So the kid (who's home on spring break) says half the stash is his. I did all the work!... Happy Saturday, Kids!!! Sigh Maddy! I hope you get your share! Peace! I could eat the kid. But, as you know, I don't like soggy Doritos.

  9. Hi Snobabe, Until you come back as Rolig suggested and give us some more information, I'm just going to give you the advice that eventually worked for me in RL when my ex hubby buried himself in the Sunday newspaper. Learn to accept it. And make sure you pull the comic section for yourself before he gets out of bed.
  10. Hi ProfessorSasquatch, Your bonus will arrive after 45 days of premium membership, as described somewhere in here. Your L$300 weekly stipend will start sooner, being paid out Tuesday of every week. So your first stipend should arrive this coming Tuesday. Welcome to Second Life!
  11. Hi ProfessorSasquatch, Create a group and invite your friend to join it. Stand in your home and activate your newly created group. Then select "World->About Land" menu, where you'll see a "Set" button to set the house to your new group. Then go to the "Options" tab to set the permissions for group members. You'll want to allow only group members to have build rights. Good luck!
  12. Hi Dudesky, This sounds like classic "bake fail", and maybe it's just a coincidence it happened right after an update. Here's a page that deals with bake fail, and is applicable to most SL viewers... http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_bake_fail The slow rezzing for other avatars makes me wonder if your update settings changed. Make sure your Draw Distance hasn't increased. And finally, I usually throw the following link at almost everybody, because so many problems are caused by SL's finicky nature with regard to internet connection quality (not speed). There are lots of good ideas in Nalate's article that are worth knowing about, just in case... http://blog.nalates.net/2011/10/26/troubleshoot-your-sl-connection/ Good luck!
  13. Hi Felicita, This doesn't sound like a viewer issue. I'll guess you are on a Windows PC (as most SL users are), so I'm going to have to guess. If you have analog headphones, I wonder if they're properly plugged in. Many computer speakers plug into the computer's headphone jack. You may have to unplug the speaker cable to make room for the headphone cable. If the headphones are plugge into a jack on the speakers make sure they're plugged into the headphone jack. Some speakers have two connections, one for headphones and one for the audio output of an iPod type device. If your headphones are USB, you'll need to find the sound control panel under Windows and tell your computer that you want the sound to go to the headphones and not to the speakers. If this advice doesn't help, come back and edit your question (via "Options" over there on the right) to give us more information. Good luck! ETA: Your laptop should automatically detect insertion of the headphone cable and switch the audio to them from the internal speakers. This would be true for any audio, not just SL. If that's not happening, then either your laptop doesn't detect headphones, that ability is broken, or the headphones are plugged into the microphone jack. If the headphones are plugged in correctly, you may still have to go to a control panel somewhere to tell the laptop to send the sound to them. You may have to consult the user's guide for the laptop.
  14. Hola Julian, Busque en la carpeta "Received Items" en la parte inferior de la ventana del inventario. También puede buscar el artículo que usted compró por su nombre en la parte superior de la ventana de inventario. ¡Buena suerte!
  15. I don't think I'd conclude anything, Treasure. I hate being wrong. I have run into something like this in the past and it's not been the kind of nonsense that interests me. But, I'm pretty particular about my nonsense. ;-)
  16. It's warming here too. I just found where the mice stockpile their Doritos. I gotta dig 'em out before they get soggy!... Happy Friday, Kids!!!
  17. valerie Inshan wrote: Spring is here today! Spring may be springing here too, it's above freezing for the first time in years I'm looking forward to stealing Doritos from the field mice without freezing my nose... Happy Thursday, Kids!!!
  18. Lindal's right, Randi. The graphics adapter in that PC is a bit weak for SL. Here's another web page that gives rough estimates of graphics horsepower for various cards. You can type in the name of the card and it'll take you to the benchmark numbers. Higher is better... http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_list.php You'll see that the AMD GEFORCE GT 610 in your proposed PC scores 348, and the NVIDIA GTX 670 in Lindal's scores 5380. Those numbers are not exactly indicative of SL performance, but they're helpful nonetheless. And of course, faster graphics cards cost more money and consume more power, so selecting a PC with a whizzy graphics card can quickly blow the budget. That site also has comparison charts for various performance ranges, similar to the link Lindal provided. You may find those helpful... http://www.videocardbenchmark.net Good luck in your hunt, Randi.
  19. What's not working? Come back to your question and edit it to give more information via "Options" over there on the right. What kind of PC do you have? What operating system? etc. Don't post a new question, as that pushes other's questions off the front page and makes it difficult for us to see all the advice that's given you.

    Group name

Hi kwajkid, I'm afraid not. And once a group name has been used, even if the group is abandoned, the name cannot be used again. :-(
  22. Hi mslvlyldy, You can find the latest version of the viewer here... https://secondlife.com/support/downloads/?lang=en-US You can also just click the "Download Second Life" link at the bottom of this web page. Good luck!
