  1. Jamie, I'm assuming your have tried the following: Method a) 1) Click on the Cart symbol in the upper right corner. 2) Clicked on the Remove from cart option under each item in the cart. Method b) 1) Click on the Cart symbol in the upper right corner. 2) Manually set the Quantity to [ 0 ] [Zero] for each item in the cart. 3) Press the Update Quantities button. Did you receive any error message? If you did please post it here so we may further advise you. Click on the Options dropdown menu and select Edit of your question Let us know what Internet Browser you are using as well. Basic quick fixes include 1) Download and use another Internet Browser other than the one you are currently using to see if that helps. [internet Explorer 8 & 9 ~ Firefox 12.0 ~ Chrome] should all work for you on a PC] - [Firefox on a Mac is preferable] If this does work, please make sure to follow up and get all the current updates & patches downloaded completed for your OS and Internet Browser.
  2. Do you mean this one? Toshiba Satellite P305D-S8828 http://www.cnet.com/laptops/toshiba-satellite-p305d-s8828/4507-3121_7-33128165.html?tag=mncol;subnav The ATI Radeon 3100 - 256.0 MB GC is going to be a show stopper for you and SecondLife. It is an older technology and as such will need to use the older ATI Catalyst Drivers. AMD/ATI have limited support of this GC and it is also limited to the Windows Vista OS. It is designed for Video Playback, not gaming. Old games will work OK but SL won't be pretty if it works at all. The lowest Graphics Settings of SL will be your only choice.
  3. BlackLace, 1st of all, have you looked in your inventory's Lost & Found folder for the food and dog? Amaretto "special promotion" food had an expiration date and will disappear on rezzing if past that time. Your Dog may be: 1) In your Lost & Found folder as a single object with the Dog's Name 2) In your Lost & Found folder as a coalesced object with any name. [A coalesced object icon looks like little boxes stacked up on each other] This can happen If you rezzed these things on a parcel that was not yours or that had the object return setting on for non-group owned objects. If you find one of these, rez it and take back your objects one at a time into your inventory. 3) Other Please visit the Amaretto K9 Support sites for additional information and to possible post a support request. You will need the exact name of the region/parcel you were in to include in the request for help in case the objects were returned to the original creator. http://support.amarettobreedables.com/index.php http://wiki2.amarettobreedables.com/index.php?title=Main_Page 4) Obscure The Dog could be located in the Regions (0,0,0) corner if it [the region] is having issues returning things to the owner of record when they wander off world. Ask the region owner to restart the region. Then look in your Lost & Found folder after relogging yourself.
  4. Cuddling C, Could you please expand your question a bit. Just select the Options drop-down menu and select EDIT to add more information. Step one of course is to download the SecondLife Viewer from this link: https://secondlife.com/support/downloads/?lang=en-US This next link has all the steps in order you need to follow: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Second-Life-Quickstart/ta-p/1087919?lang=en-US Have you done this as of yet? If you are having other issues, please lets us know:

  6. Read the links Irene has provided but to get some in-world info on regions for sale, look up and join Full Transfer - Private Regions http://world.secondlife.com/group/80160e24-e436-c6ed-6de2-38954ec4183f?lang=en-US I use this group when I buy & sell regions. Why - You save big $$ - Standard 1st Full Private Region price from LL direct is $1295.00 USD You can get your 1st Standard 1st Full Private Region for as little as $450.0 USD In reality that $450.00 USD price is made up of [$300 to the seller + $150 Tfr fee the seller adds on when they pay the fee in your transaction] Many multi-region buyers & sellers are here with Extended Support who can facilitate a quick purchase of or quick sale of an "already in existence" region at a very good price, quickly. Typical pricing for a Full Region where you get it empty be can anywhere from $300 - $600 + $150 Transfer fee. Many times the transfer fee is covered by the seller. Note: the price difference is usually due to the fact that you will have to pay the next tier payment to LL on a date sooner than one month from the date of transfer of the island into your name. Existing Island Tier due dates are related to the original creation date of the island, not the date it was sold to you by a private party. Basically, an island for sale is worth more if the next LL Tier payment is a full month in the future. Its value [thus selling price] decreases as that time closes. So you find an island at the price you want the next step is for you and the seller to both open a support case ticket with the details of the purchase in each including who is paying the $150 transfer fee. Once you both have done this, you MUST exchange ticket case numbers with each other and add them to your original support case as an update. Failure to do this simply delays the transfer. LL acts as the broker for these sales and no $$ exchange hands without the transfer being completed by LL. LL transfers the USDs from your account and pays the seller. The Transfer Fee is then deducted from the agreed upon parties account. If any one says "Trust Me, I'll deal with all the transfer issues and solicits you to pay them directly, pass them by. If one of the parties in the transfer has Extended Support [People who own 5 or more regions qualify] the transfer can be completed in as little as 24 hours. Mind you, there may still be a delay if you are having the island renamed and/or placed at a different grid location as happens when adjacent islands are sold off. Sales between "small number of regions owned" parties [where neither qualifies for extended support] usually take from 12 - 20 days for LL to complete. The TOTAL Cost Remember, always look at the private sale and purchase of a Full region with the next $295.00 Tier to LL in mind. Case in point - That island being sold for $450.00 USD is a great deal even if the next $295.00 USD tier due date is one week after the transfer is completed. Look at the whole amount of USDs you'll be spending across a 30 day cycle as the total cost. In this example [ $450.00 USD Sale + $295.00 USD tier the following week ] = $745.00 USD for an island in month one versus $1295.00 USD from LL direct. With that savings you could almost get 2. ~~ Mea Culpa to all my region owning friends who will now shun me for sharing the secrets of our success. Good Shopping to you!
  7. Rolig is so correct in her comments. What;s worst for that seller is while that vendor is busy annoying you, it will not be available to sell to others. You might want to let the business owner know if you are feeling charitable.
  8. With most SL viewers, just select the viewer Help / About option to get that info.
  9. Per LL's own TOS and LSL forum they have not implemented a "query sex of" function for avatars. There are some RLV functions that allow you to determine an avatar's preferences/orientations as I recall but that requires you to use 3rd party features not supported by LL. In all cases, the actual real world sex of the avatar owner is never available to you.
  10. Beth, Can you supply additional information regarding this issue? Does the button press then nothing? Is the button not active? Do you get any messages at all? Do you have any messages in the browser status area? What internet viewer are you using? I use 3 different internet viewers [iE8&9 - Firefox & Chrome] on my PC and they all have their moments with SecondLife. I generally avoid using Safari & Opera these days.
  11. Sagia, I'm not aware of a public URL path that allows you to point to a picture stored in your Profile Feed "box" or a forward via email option. The good news is you can zoom the picture and then right-mouse click on on it and save it to your PC using the "Save Picture As" option. Now you can forward it via email on your PC. Have fun!
  12. Sparrow, Music getting to your PC in SecondLife is actually pretty easy. That URL you place in your Land Audio URL setting simply allows the listeners SecondLife Viewer to get an IP address for the music stream on the parcel at any given time. Once the local PC has this information, the Viewer passes it to the built in media player and it pretty much just streams the music directly from your DJ's ShoutCast or IceCast relay service. So here is a test the DJ and you can do to narrow down the issue to SL or Other causes. [is everyone hearing the skipped music? Or only you ?] BTW - Usually Voice takes less packets & bandwidth than music which may explain why the voice announcements are not being dropped. 1) Download VLC from the internet. It is a free media player that plays a stream very cleanly on your PC 2) Have the DJ stream their music and do the voice-over as usual with no SecondLife running. 3) You listen to his/her stream using the VLC / File / Play Media Stream option where you place the relay service URL & Port information in and listen for the overall quality. BTW - no SL should be running on your PC as well. Is the music clear and consistent? Is the voice over announcement clear and consistent? If not then the DJ is having an issue with dropped packets on their way up to the relay service. If the DJ is NOT using a relay service and is also hosting a DNAS server on their PC then there is not enough bandwidth to service the listeners. Using a relay service minimizes the need for an overly fast upstream bandwidth but the quality of that stream is incredibly important and affected by many things. If the dropped music packet issue is present using this test then packet losses can be caused by: o Using wireless to connect to the internet. Try a Wired connection o a poor ISP provided internet connection - Use a good speed test measurement to determine if this is the case. o A PC with not enough memory to service the Music & Voice sampling and it tries to favor the voice stream when present. o Streaming music from a USB or networked attached hard drive. You music should be on the local hard drive. o Gremlins o Crazy firewall software inspecting each and every internet packet as it leaves the PC for the internet. SECONDLIFE ISSUES If packet loss is only happening when SL is running... o If only you and the audience have this issue, then the DJ may be streaming the music at too high a kbps and your PC is dropping packets when you are listening to music and accepting the updates to Secondlife as your view of the club changes. Have him drop his stream broadcast kbps to 128 kbps and test again. This can be caused if you club is very busy visually or very very popular. Dropping the broadcast speed allows the music to be played with less packets needing to be received at the same time as SL visual updates are being received. o AND/OR - You have installed a auto stream changer on your parcel that is causing the URL to change over and over causing your SL viewer to process a new sound media request to all your listeners. You get the idea. Please give us additional information regarding the DJ's system such as PC type & model & specs, Graphics card, Internet connectivity, and all the software the DJ is using to do their thing. We can narrow this down with this information. Also let us know how you change the <Music URL on your club's parcel as well.
  13. Monday, It seems that your available Land Use Credits and/or Donated Square Meters are too few to pay for your current Mainland Land allocation. This happens when a [Premium Account] member of your Land Ownership group leaves and takes their Land Use allocation/donation with them. As a premium member, you need to either 1) increase your Land Use Fees upwards to the next available tier level and Donate the needed Square Meters to the Land Ownership group that is short ~ or ~ 2) Transfer unused Donated Square Meters from one group to another which is what LL is suggesting. Go to this page on your account to review your Land Use: https://secondlife.com/my/account/landfees.php?lang=en-US Your [ Paid Tier Level: ] needs to be equal to [ Square meters donated: + Premium Bonus in Square Meters: ] Use the [ Calculate ] button to determine the needed change amount to see the increase in fees you'll be charged. You can also see where you are over donating to a land Ownership group as well. What Linden Lab wants you to do is the following: 1) log into your Premium account in-world and... 2) Edit your Land Ownership group where you have more Square meters donated than needed and lessen the donation amount to the minimum allowed. This will increase the Square meters available for donation for your account allowing you to Donate them to the other Land Ownership Group that is now under financed. 3) Edit your other Land Ownership group and raise the donation amount to the needed total. Your Premium Account Avatar needs to be in both groups in order to do this successfully. HURRY! Excess group land If at any time a group owns more land than they have land contributions for, Linden Lab contacts the founder of the group. Group Members must contribute more land tier credits to the group or release land within 72 hours, or the group risks losing some of their land. Innula has a picture of the transaction window you'll see to do this in her reply/answer. I hope this helps!
  14. Diz, are you on a Mac or PC? and what OS. That will help us a lot in finding any existing solution for you. Oops - you mention Ctrl-U OK...PC - Make sure you Don't have any graphic object/picture detection software installed. I removed a HP Printer Picture detection memory hog because it was always getting in the way of my picture uploads & downloads.
  15. Athena, Notice SPAM can be such a pain. OK you need to determine which of 3 well know systems in SL are spamming you. You can tell by the construction of the message. SecondLife Groups These notices will look like this: Subject: Second Life - Group notice: WEDDING INVITATION You can either: 1) Leave the group that sent you the message ~ or ~ 2) Edit your membership status in the group and uncheck the [ ] Receive Group Notices. If you are also being chatted to death by the group chat window, you will need to either keep closing the chat window pop-ups or leave the group Subscribe-o-Matic Notices from a Subscribe-o-matic will have this message in the text: "Club/Store 's Subscribe-O-Matic is owned by ??????? " followed by the location in a SLURL of the Server sending the notice. Most of the time, this server is on a publicly accessible region close to an actual Subscriber device. Take the SLURL to the location and locate the Subscriber and touch it to "unsubscribe" Be sure to wait for the verification message from the subscriber object. It will read as follows: When Joining: Club/Store Event Group: Thank you for subscribing to the .:Club/Store:. Subscribe-O-Matic. Welcome message.... - To remove yourself from this Subscribe-O-Matic list, just touch this device again at any time. When Leaving: Club/Store Event Group: You have been unsubscribed from Club/Store! Event Group Hippo-Groups Notices from a Hippo-Group Server will usually be formatted as follows: "The object 'KarenMichelle Lane' has sent you a message from Second Life:" ~ and/or ~ "The object 'hippoGROUPS Server v1.2' in Second Life has offered you inventory" You have a few ways to unsubscribe from a Hippo-Groups Server belonging to a Venue/Artist/Store in SecondLife. 1) Find the LM of the Store/Venue where you joined the group and TP there then touch the Subscriber and request leave the group.. What's worst, you may have been added without realizing it by answering "Yes" to a message from the Hippo-Visitor system. [Asking you 1st is a requirement now in the TOS somewhere.] '2) You can visit the location below to get your password to your Hippo Technologies database entry. Then you may login to their website and your account where you may kill your membership in any and all Hippo-Groups you are in and/or turn off the future ability for Hippo Products to add you to this particular system. HippoGroups Password Terminal: http://slurl.com/SecondLife/Hippo%20Technologies/123/122/44 You will get this message: Thank you, [avatar name] your password is 'abcd1234'. (You may change it later if you wish). You can manage your hippoGROUPS subscriptions by visiting http://www.hippo-technologies.co.uk/myhippogroups/ and logging in. Once logged in, you can select the options that work best for you. Hope this helps...
  16. Fayte, Assuming you have permissions to modify your builds, Have you tested this on new linked builds as well as existing projects? Have you tried to do this in a nice quiet sandbox or region? Please update your question with the results of these 2 tests.
  17. Rosey nailed it on the head. I usually just relog to clear my derender mistakes. That option is too close to other options for my taste. I've hit it instead of Inspect a few times.
  18. Valleries, 1) Please do not create new question threads for this issue. Find the original and select the OPTIONS dropdown menu option and select EDIT to amend your question and to add more details. 2) You are having one bad day. OK, if you register an account with a mistyped email address you are almost totally out of luck in correcting the problem if you have also forgotten the password. You may call LL as noted below to try to get support to kick-start the correction for the account you have lost access to., but without having at least once verified the account from the indicated email account I'm not sure what LL will be able to do for you. Please follow all the steps in the following article: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Account-credentials/ta-p/700017 Also follow Valerie's [The Answers Volunteer] links as well.
  19. Andy, I just want to relay to you that you need to learn about SecondLife. Making assumptions will only frustrate you'll more. This is an excellent place to ask questions that you haven't found answers to in the Knowledge Base. Please take the time to read the links given to you by those volunteers who have answered your questions. This information is also availabel in several other languages. Premium membership Information: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Premium-membership/ta-p/1054477 Quickstart Information: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Second-Life-Quickstart/ta-p/1087919 Important information from this article. 2. Create a username Your username is the account name that you use to log in to Second Life. It has to be unique, so you may not get to choose a simple or common name. Later, you can also choose a display name that everyone sees in addition to your username. For more information, see Usernames and Display names. Warning: Choose your username carefully! Once chosen, you can't change it. Although you can designate a "display name," your username will still be visible, and others may use it to refer to you. Details regarding Usernames & Display Names http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Usernames-and-display-names/ta-p/700173 Important information from this article. Information for content creators and merchants Both username and display name are visible on objects Object properties and build tools show both the username and the display of an object's owner and creator. During Linden dollar and othertransactions, both your username and display name are visible. Display names on objects change when you change your display name, although it may take up to one day for the change to appear everywhere. Username is shown in transaction history Your transaction history shows only usernames for both buyers and sellers. Search covers both usernames and display names When you search for a Resident, search results contain both display names and usernames so that you can easily determine which John Smith you're really looking for. If customers know your username, don't set your display name to avoid confusion To emphasize your username, don't set your display name; this way your display name and username match. As a precaution, you may also advise your customers that they should only pay avatars/objects matching your username. LSL uses only "full name" derived from username LSL functions return the "full name". For example: Username: kelly.linden Full name: Kelly Linden Display Name: Teh Kellz For more information, see LSL Avatar/Name in the Second Life Wiki.
  20. Lucia, Below are the details as published by LL in regards to Buying Regions [sims] in SecondLife including all current pricing information. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Buying-Private-Regions/ta-p/700045 If you need a Full Region you can buy existing regions that are up for sale from private parties. These are much more affordable than purchasing a new region from LL. They usually are for sale for a "sliding value" depending on when they are sold and when the next schedule tier die date to LL is due. The parties will then have to agree on who pays the $150 USD transfer fee to LL. Full regions can have up to 100 avatars on them at one time but the practical limit is between 65-70. Mainland regions are more affordable but they have a 40 avatar limit on each. If you do not need a full region then there are fabulous market price deals on parcels for lease all over SL.
  21. I wrote this in response to a question today on the Answers Board. Just cross-posting it here to get current info out there: EVERYONE - If you are a SecondLife DJ, Music Mixer/Arranger, Live performing artist; what is your fave Broadcast Software? Add your solutions both software & hardware to this thread... QUESTION: Any help trying to start a radio station and using autoplay for continuous streaming? I am looking to open a radio station in-world but I have no idea where to start or what direction to go. I am looking for a stream that will continuously play music and allow broadcasts as well that will hold a listener Max of 400 people. Something that is stable and reliable. I also need to get a specific DNS (Domain Name System) for this radio station. I know there are people out there that do this or have done this so I am reaching out for any possible help. I also need to know what program would continuously shuffle music or play content over the airwaves when there is not a live DJ present. Thank you all so much in advance! ~Gabriella Karillion RESPONSE Gabriella, I run and maintain an Internet Radio Station for use in SecondLife when I DJ and am contracted to play music. Creating your own Radio Station is exciting and fraught with many opportunities to trip & learn The General Steps are as follows [ BTW - the details and how's & whys would fill 10 pages ] : 1) Create a fantastic Music Library on your PC. Generally, the music can be "Ripped" CDs or purchased music or public domain music [Creative Commons Artists release licenses ] in the MP3 & WMA formats at the desired kbps you plan on broadcasting at or better. The music in my library is all available at 128 kbps to 320 kbps to lossless depending on the music. 2) Get a quality Radio Station Software package. I use a purchased copy SAM Broadcaster v4.9.4 installed using MySQL as the database backend because I have over 100,000 individual annotated songs. There are many other programs available some of which are free. http://spacial.com/ is the place to look for SAM. The free MySQL Community Server software can be downloaded for free from http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/ - Yes! Do follow the installation directions carefully if you go this route. 3) Obtain a Stream Relay service from a reliable and affordable provider. You can find services in SecondLife for up to 250 listeners at an affordable cost per week or month. You will get an IP address&port or a Domain-name& port assigned to you. I own 2 accounts which allow up to 150 listeners total. Note: Be sure the service allows for use at a continuous streaming relay service if you play on 24/7 availability. I only broadcast during a scheduled period of time. I also did not include any solution where your PC becomes the Relay Service/Server because of your need to stream to 400 listeners. 4) Get a stand-alone PC with plenty of disk space for your Music Library. Most Radio Station software works best when the music and database engine are on the same PC. A 4-core PC with 2 GB of memory is a great starter system. Graphics are not important. A quality sound card allows you to do the following 1) Listen locally to the immediate stream out feed; 2) Add your wonderful DJ Voice to the mix; 3) Record your voice over lead-in's and commercials. [ Optional: Get a separate PC to listen to / monitor your stream from the Relay Service which is usually delayed/offset from 10 - 45 seconds depending on internet traffic This way you can check the quality of the finished stream that the listener will be hearing.] 5) Put it all together. In my case for non-attended music streaming... a) SAM 4.9.4 running using my scripted and programmed Clockwheel rotation Music selection criteria ---> b) Selecting MP3 & WMA encoded music from my 1 tb hard drive Music Library c) Streaming it out with the auto DJ mode with auto recovery using the lame (MP3) Encoder and Streamer ---> d) To my ShoutCast DNAS Relay Service accounts hosted with www.xtreamhotspotstreams.com ---> e) Relayed to my Internet listeners via my website http://RadioDivinity.yolasite.com and my in-world parcels stream IP+port addresses --> f) set up as the Land Audio URL addresses on the parcels I own and in the clubs I play and DJ at. Feel free to take a listen of Radio Divinity at http://173.193.223.178:8346 Those are the basics. Additional Needs: You may get your own Domain Name from many different Internet Registrar's. The trick is to get that domain name used at the reference URL for your Station Relay Service. Make sure that your Registrar has the ability to allow you to forward all requests to your domain name on the assigned port to the relay service you choose to use. Keeping these services separate is a wise thing because Relay Service Provider come and go. This way you can change relay service providers easily and keep your "brand" always. Cautions: When looking for Radio Station software know that looking for "Free Radio Station Software" will net you a ton of PC only solutions with no ability to encode and stream to a relay service. I'll update this post a bit later with a current list of Radio Station w/DJ software you might consider using. Download Sources for other Broadcast Software: [In Flight] [ Remember, many of these solutions are self-promoting and take any claims of superiority over other broadcast systems with a large bag of salt - I'm not including any solutions that have not been actively updated since their introduction or that have had no updates for over 2 years.] Purchased PC Based Solutions: http://spacial.com/ http://rogueamoeba.com/nicecast/ <--- Nice Mac Solution http://www.stationplaylist.com/index.html http://www.nch.com.au/streaming/index.html http://www.mixtime.com/index.html <-- Minimum Donation Based Solution http://www.pirateradio.com/about/ <--- An Oldie but still around Free PC Based Solutions: http://www.winamp.com/ <-- Included out of nostalgia - It used to have a Broadcasting module that could encode to a Relay Service and with a dozen add-on's it was pretty good in it's day. http://www.sourcefabric.org/en/airtime/release <--- Solution for Ubuntu Linux 10.04 LTS or Debian Squeeze PCs Subscription Solutions: http://www.live365.com/web/components/content/broadcast/index.live http://voscast.com/plans/

23. Welcome back Darta, Depending how long you've been away from SL, you'll find that things have changed dramatically over the past 4 years. The link below will get you started on your profile updates. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Profiles/ta-p/1101055 BTW - I'm assuming that you have installed the latest SL Viewer on your PC. If not, please edit this Question by selecting the Options dropdown menu on the original question, select Edit and add some more details such as Your Viewer of choice, and your PC & Graphics Card specs. Also make sure that your Internet Browser of choice is updated and is also specified as the "Default" browser fro your PC.
  24. Gabriellia, I run and maintain an Internet Radio Station for use in SecondLife when I DJ and am contracted to play music. 25. Spazz, Make sure that your PC is not running a too restrictive firewall solution. If the Firewall prevents some important processes from starting up, your login screen will be blank. SLPlugin.exe and SLVoice.exe come to mind. Is you have a 3rd party firewall solution your PC, try turning it off and then try SL again. Please post the results. I'm responding to your email... Yeah LL has been implementing so many changes that their QC has failed them this go around. You can look at your original question and on the upper right of the question area pick the Options dropdown and the Edit. This way you can amend your original question with what you have tried. OK - Lets see if we can get any Viewer working for you. I recommend a complete removal of all the viewers you have installed and a Clean Install of the Viewer you prefer. The Clean Install includes the manual steps where you delete all the hidden support directories. The old cache information [ XML & Images, etc ] is not always purged on a upgrade or standard reinstall. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-Second-Life/ta-p/1375231 Then, before logging in, launch the viewer and manually set the preferences to Low Graphics regardless of what setting the viewer thinks it can handle. Since you have been working well in SL before this, I didn't; add the normal "reboot all the network equipment" recommendation but it can't hurt.
