  1. The hacker had a backdoor for months since summer and the final hack happened in November 11th. The hacker wiped all players data and payouts data to cover their tracks. The L$ were stolen by the hacker's many accounts that he used to cash out L$ from ATM for months (at max 300 L$ a day per avatar because that is the hardcoded security limit on ATM). 2nd hack happened in December but by then we already had backups in place and players didn't loose their progress since the 1st hack and then in 5 days / 5 nights (with eating just pizza daily) I went through all the hundreds files on the server, looked over the code and managed to find the backdoor that the hacker was using to have access to the database. The hacker was locked out for good and we have daily automated backups in place. The code of all systems was hardened. The logins from websites removed and any forms that could be used for hacker. My sleep was distorted for months. The land owners since the hack put so much money in the fishing buoys and were running multiplier earnings events so that all the players managed to restore their L$ and earned multiple over. After hack I had to visit hundreds of landowners and manually input the landowners data for each fishing place. It was a lot of work and together with moderators we managed to restore the players fishing experience from internet history of top players page (web archive). Hacks happen even to fortune 500 companies. I am not an accident to happen. Hackers happen even to the best. I don't wish something like that upon you or the company that you work at Selene Gregoire. We survived it and we implemented lots of additional security and hardened all loose ends and we have daily backups. Only after the hack and for the fact that I was able to survive something like that (before it was my biggest fear as before I did not have any experience with hackers and how to deal with them) I am now more confident and prepared to grow much larger business. Because we have strong foundations in place. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. And it did shoot the Fish Hunt game to a rapid growth and we now have a record number of active fishing places and still growing strong.
  2. I've never heard of Aem jobs... Are you the guy who copied my games and you try to justify your copying like that? You really went to that extent to register a new avatar just to be able to post on forum in my topics? 😁 Even if not... There is a guy that copies my every move and I started calling him my shadow and sometimes as my biggest fan ^^
  3. We sent DMCA many years ago LL lawyers responded they received it initially but then they just ignored. I see it pointless incurring legal fees. And even if you win the guy is not from US. Through time I figured out that any players who 1st start playing a copy game end up playing the original game. Sooner or later all people figure out what is copy and what is original. Also usually people gravitate to participate in system that has the biggest community.
  4. My fishing game is not a copy of any of above and is very different. The only thing it has in common with those above is that its a fishing game. I am talking about exact copies people do of my fishing game. There is 1 that even copied the graphic styles, font and made similar logos. On top of that the copiers try to start negative campaigns or try to hurt my reputation thinking that will help their games get more players. It has never worked but they keep trying. And I just want to reply to someone on this forum saying that I exploit low income players or those who are "uninformed". That is very untrue and that is an insult to the currently biggest gaming community in Second Life. New Residents coming in Second Life who don't have L$ are actually making their 1st L$ so that they can improve their avatar and participate in Second Life community and economy. The only reason my game system grows and the landowners are supporting it is because it is benefiting a lot of people and Second Life on overall.
  5. I got tired from writing. Might check again later or tomorrow. Work calls. I wish everyone a nice day. \O.. O/
  6. I don't think it illegal. If it is illegal or if I am breaking any law I guess one of the customers will file a lawsuit? Maybe you for violating consumer rights? Or I am going to be contacted by any of government with new laws about it and be asked to cease such activity or will be informed that for it I need such and such license and where to apply.
  7. Hmm.. I must have missed that clause in the ToS. Can you please provide it to me so I can use it to hide a system from LL that counters the ToS and abuses consumer protections within second life as well? Correction: Everything that you want in case if its not already prohibited by LL terms of service and known policies.
  8. Coffee behave pls O.. O I don't think you are dumb even if you do or say something dumb. I don't think you need to resort to name calling or call someone dumb. Maybe the reason I am posting on public LL forum is to get it to attention of LL faster so that they let me know its ok or not ok with them faster. That is in my books opposite from dumb. I don't want to do anything in SL that would be against the rules and the vision / spirit of the LL owners and their managers. At the same time I want to do everything and anything possible to make SL more successful with largest growing community.
  9. Hey I agree on that with you. But the way LL set their policy mostly is like: "You can do whatever you want in SL until we tell you that something that you do you can not".
  10. I am doing well in my life and mostly that is because I took my own route in life. I am easily hated or missunderstood by some because I do things in different way than most. Well there is about bigger amount of people who like me and smaller amount of haters. Just that haters are the loudest. But I ask you. Who are you as a personality if you do everything as everyone expects of you? Do you even exist as an individual? Do you form your own opinions about the world or you just follow the majority and what is expected of you? Who are you living your life for?
  11. I am still waiting for reply from LL product managers regarding my silver mines game project. Lots of people asked me about it and we are all still waiting. The way I learned that LL works is that if something is not ok with them they let you know but only when it grows big enough to get on their radar. But with silver mine game system I don't want risking investing into it and then they would prohibit it. That happened once already. So I asked for permission and am still waiting.
  12. I have a neutral impression of you. I don't have anything against you. All I do on forum posts is to share my ideas. For me posting on this forum is not a matter of popularity contest. Sometimes I find it intelectually stimulating. Sometimes some people post something constructive and well intended. I filter out all negativity and read and focus on those constructive post. If you have a problem with me then that is your problem. I have nothing with you and don't even know you. \O.. O/
  13. Like I have already explained in one of my other post. I was being extorted for money by 2 to 3 individuals. I received an email being told I that if I don't pay them specified large sum of money they will post my name on high google indexed forums and social media together tagged with words fraud, scam, thief and such. They knew I am successful creator and that by defaming and hurting my public image online will do me damage. I did not let myself be extorted. I am here in the public eye. And the people who scam other people usually disappear from public life. I never did anything wrong and things written about me if you actually read them and for everyone who does a little research will see are lies written with purpose to destroy my reputation. And for those who write that I am just some shady character who wants to get rich. I already have a comfortable life. I don't spend much money and don'tvneed much. I am an entrepreneur and some day I hope to become an investor. My products are loved by those who use them and people who come in touch with me on a daily basis as I offer support know I am ok and that is why they support me. Through last 10 years I was an attack target many times. It is usually at the times of business growth. Should I just keep a low profile just because some people who are invested in copy games or other systems that they think are less used because mine is more become mean and are sometimes motivated to try to hurt the original system / product and hurt creators reputation. I have learned that such is a business environment in SL and I am used of that. I am not a politician I am not campaigning to be elected as a "mayor of SL forum". Rowan I don't need you to buy my product. Its up to you if you make your consumer decision based on rumors. You are not hurting my feelings by believing false rumors and spreading them. For me it is important that my products / systems work and when due to the way SL works some product stops working I give a replacement (sometimes things break). I daily ensure that all my systems are functional and I have tons of friends in within largest and growing community that grew around my products / systems. I never trust what other people say about other people. Especially about high profile people who are under public scrunity. For example Bill Gates was accused of being involved in creating virus creating COVID. If it is easy for some people to believe such things if they read on forums that doesn't make it a reality. Rowan you seem to belong to that group of people who take in information from public forums as a reality or are you doing that with somekind of agenda or you simply don't like me.. 🙂 A lot of fake information is on internet. I say don't believe everything you read and check your sources.
  14. Read my opening post again (you severely missread) that 15k is the amount remaining by players that still need to be paid off and there are no interest. Lots of players I get quit SL or no longer play the game after some time so most of those 15 000 usd will not be repaid and that is ok with me.
  15. As a SL virtual goods creator and merchant I don't need to know my customers RL identity KYC and don't need to collect their personal identifiable information because I don't run or provide any financial services. If I ever start collecting and storing any RL identity data for any other reason needed I will follow all the regulations around that and will be in full compliance with the new personal data protection laws. For SL customers buying products with delayed repayment all I store is their avatar name and universally unique identifier (uuid), product bought, amount of full price paid and amount that still needs to be paid. *(I learned that I should probably not use words selling on credit for it confuses so many people in thinking it uses the conventional bank loans or credit cards like debt or that someone is collecting interests). No the debt from my delayed product payments is not being financed by anyone (there is no loan behind it). The debt is not legaly enforcable because there is no loan or credit contract that would be legaly binding the customer to any terms of re-payment. For those reasons I think that the customer protection laws that are being created to protect customers from getting into debt they can't handle don't apply here. Customers / players are paying off their debt in a systematic way as part of the game (50% when they cash out their earnings from game system) as long as they participate in the system and they can opt out any time (no strings attached). So in practice like some mentioned is like a paid service or a subscription. I am not running any banking services or products nor I have any intention to develop any banking products or financial services. Banking is against TOS of SL. I am aware of that. But this does not mean that as a content creator in SL I am not allowed to create products and services in SL that are sold for L$. Second Life TOS defines L$ to be exactly for that to be exchanged for user created products and services and with that TOS encourages creators to create new things in SL. I am an innovator and I look to create fringe products and services that noone has thought of before. My most successful systems are being copied by many. I don't copy from others I have my own ideas and I pride myself on inventing. This is what I do and I am thankful for Second Life being an environment that is supportive of innovations. Its known that innovating is not considered safe because you are creating something that was not yet regulated by law or rules. I wish Second Life was on overall even more innovative. There are so many different laws created about everything that we are even becoming afraid to breath. Rest assured that I can read the laws and I can know if I am breaking or not breaking any laws or rules. Maybe that is why most people find it easier to copy from others because its safe and sure and seen to be working. To create something new is an intense learning process that takes many attempts to get it right. And there is a high rate of failure and you just need to be strong and confident to learn from failed attempts. People who copy work from others are weak and just followers. As for why I like to write about these things on public forum... Its because I find it intelectually stimulating talking about such things with other people. And often other people share things here that I haven't thought of or learned about and it motivates me to do research on such things and get acquainted with them. For that I am thankful to everyone even if some people like to comment everything from a rather negative and pesimistic angle / view.
  16. Sezzle that you are mentioning is problematic because it seems it actually gives out loans for the remaining payments owed and product sellers get 100% of money. They are effectively trying to replace credit cards. What I offer to my customers through Second Life for my virtual goods is different. There are no banking services, no loans, no interests and there are no payment schedules and no penalties and no missed payments and no terms on how and until when their remaining payment needs to be paid. It is not a financial credit. It is just a very simple delayed payment for end product.
  17. Did you find anything specific in LL TOS that makes offering virtual end products on credit with no interest against the rules? It is basically selling goods with delayed re-payment. If you are talking about something specific from terms of service that disallows such thing then please make a citation from it.
  18. I read California credit laws (regulations around credits) today and I didn't find anything illegal with offering virtual end products on credit. If you know that something specific is illegal or unlawful then state so. I am not asking you to teach me but if you have something concrete that is wrong with no interest credits on virtual goods then create a specific argument with exact law citation that is being broken. Thank you for your text that you say you wrote with good intentions but all you wrote is about how I don't understand things while not providing any proof that you understand them any better.
  19. scheme - noun: scheme; plural noun: schemes a large-scale systematic plan or arrangement for attaining a particular object or putting a particular idea into effect.
  20. If I was ever to expand and create a system for other creators to sell their products on credit there would be a credit whortiness scheme implemented and consumers with bad credit rating / score wouldn't be able to buy expensive designer furniture on credit (and it would be up to creator to decide min credit score buyers need to have). The credit score system could then further be used / built on and become a mechanism for creating model virtual "Residents" with high public/community score - proof of good social reputation. It would promote pro-active and good behavior within the community. But that already falls into realm of social programming / engineering and can be created into a game system that promotes social good. I envision a possibility of SL Residents buying on credit just to participate in such system for opportunity to build their social points / reputation. To prove to others that they can be trusted. People do adjust and control their behavior in public because of perception (even real possibility) that there is something to loose if they behave out of general socially agreed norms. Same is within online communities for users/players who worked hard to achieve something. That something where users can advance and progress in can be created. If I am not mistaken in SL market of virtual goods is over 30 millions usd every year. Take 5 - 10% of that money and employ it for promotion of pro-social and good behavior and you will get a platform that will attract people from all over the world because it would be different and better than RL. Second Life could present model or multiple models of future society that gives equal opportunity to advance themselves to everyone.
  21. Yes Charlotte I think you are right. Before offering credit system for other content creators to use if I ever do that and especially if on a large scale as a business consultation with a lawyer and doing a legal research is a must just like with any other business venture. In regards to credit as far as I know in broad aspect by definition it is not a financial instrument (it probably depends on how its used or what product is offered on credit). I am still learning and researching but there seem to be many different types of credits. From bank credits (credit cards) to credits issued by normal non financial companies for products with delayed payments for buyers. The type of credit (selling end products on credit) in from what I currently understand (*and I am still learning/researching) is not a financial instrument and does not require a company who is offering one to have a banking license. I currently believe (*learning) that credit becomes a financial instrument only when the product is money and in cases of different financial derivatives based on credit or someones debt. From what I learned from quick research about definition of credit by itself is not a financial instrument and in most cases it is a matter of an accounting category. https://www.investopedia.com/terms/c/credit.asp I think as long as there are no interests on selling end products on credit and there are no investments possibilities and the credit debt is not packaged into a financial instrument and re-sold there is no banking activity going on. Selling end products (virtual goods) in Second Life on credit (selling a product to customers with delayed re-payment) does not fall under banking regulation. I also don't see a reason why or how and on what legal grounds would it be prohibited if LL was to update their TOS regarding banking activities in SL. Do correct me if someone is a lawyer or has legal experience or direct experience with those things from the industry. I am open to learn and adapt my understanding.
  22. I am currently running an experiment that I might decide in future to develop into a full scale system that other content creators in SL can benefit from. About half a year ago I started selling my virtual products on credit. At 1st I was setting credits manually in database for each customer upon their initial pre-payment of 30% and it was lots of unneccesary work. But recently I programmed what I call a credit vendor and now when customers pay 30% of full price of the product the remaining 70% is set as debt automatically. These remaining 70% then they pay off with 50% of their earnings from all of my systems when they withdraw them. From the 1st look it might seem that this is a bad idea and that it doesn't make sense and that as a content creator I am loosing money. But it is really not a bad idea and I ❤ the concept. And here is why: Drop rate of new signups in Second Life or Residents who stay in SL for only a month or few months is very high (like for any other free social platform - people try it out some stay lots drop out). If as a content creator I can sell my products for at least 10 - 30% of full price through credit vendor (as in case of many SL drop outs who will never pay off their debt because they stop using SL) I am still getting sales that otherwise would not happen. *The virtual goods I sell are no transfer so they can not transfer to another avatar and abandon their obligation to pay. Unlike with RL physical goods there is no material production cost and with virtual goods we can sell unlimited copies of it. Because above reasons to me selling virtual goods on credit makes a perfect sense. Another amazing reason worth pointing out is that i n this way I can get my product and brands in the hands of many more people and that makes for great marketing effect. If your product is not worn or used by anyone and for others to see it and talk about it then that is almost the same as if it doesn't even exist. (There is a scifi book author Cory Doctorow who issues his books with public copyright permissions, so books can be copied basically for free and his argument is that this way more people find out for his work and he also gets more sales). I learned great deal from reading about his rationale from a preface of one of his book. Selling something on credit is known concept already from ancient times. While for the selling of virtual goods on credit I kind of hope I am the 1st one or one of the 1st ones doing it in history. \O.. O/ Now 1 main disadvantage or risk is that a customer doesn't fulfill their obligation to pay off their debt (but at least they paid pre-payment). So if I ever build full scale credit system for other content creators to use the customers will have a credit rating / credit score that will be based on their past repayment of debts. Customers with bad or low credit rating won't be able to make any aditional credit purchases and content creators using credit vendors will be able to set minimum credit rating needed to buy on credit. I have been very happy with my credit sales little experiment. Since I've started offering my products on credit there is now a total for about 15 000 usd of customer/players debt on my books (database) for which its questionable of what % of it will be ever repaid but what is not repaid will be mainly because the SL users are no longer in SL. It has not hurt my product sales purchased paying full price. I think its actually boosting it. I've established trust with hundreds of customers. By giving them my trust first that they will respect their obligation. My goal is for the debt to grow to 21 000 000 L$ by the end of 2021 for a better proof on concept and if its recepted well by content creators community I might expand the credit system for others to be able to sell on credit through it too. We'll see \O.. O/ Some general advantages and disadvantages of selling on credit from the web: Advantages: An increase in sales may happen when you start selling on credit. Your customers are likely to buy from you as their cash flow is not disrupted and it is not necessary to pay upfront to competitors. Better customer loyalty. Offering credit to customers demonstrates trust. Disadvantages: It can lead to bad debts. There is no guarantee that the customers will pay back. Loss of income/capital. Bad debt is a loss of income as well as loss of capital you have invested in buying the goods. (Does not apply for virtual / digital goods of which there can be unlimited copies and copying has 0 cost). Strained relationship.
  23. I don't think affiliate selling products really work unless its for example a role play sim and the products on the affiliate vendor tie in nicely with the RP theme.
  24. On the other side of production is consumption. And it is generally known that without consumption especially in capitalist world there is no production (Soviet Union centrally planned socialist experiments that lacked markets and efficient resource allocations failed). Usually where there is demand, supply follows (for example COVID and the need for vaccines). What people want the entrepreneurs produce. Some demand can be induced by advertising and marketing but on overall we primarily produce what people need/want for survival and secondary the goods for higher social needs (like luxury). Anything that is produced in Second Life that makes more people (who register their SL account for the 1st time) to stay in SL and become regular users is good for general growth and economic stability of SL. This benefits everyone.
