  1. I typically pay no attention to anything happening in Texas because it's usually something terrible (unless it's about barbecue). I have never, and will never, call Trump my president. As far as I'm concerned, he is nothing more than this country's largest mistake, and until that mistake is fixed, the only person I call Mr. President, and give that respect to, is Barack Obama. It's just a bonus that it drives the snowflakes insane with their spluttering, "He's still your president," whinging.
  2. I actually do try to be a fairly aware consumer in RL and SL. If I'm considering a purchase from someone new in SL I try to look at their profile - especially if it's a larger purchase. No, not all creators are going to put their political views on their profiles, and I certainly don't send them a message to ask, but if some ding-a-ling proudly displays his Nazism (or Trumpism) on his profile through song lyrics or his own words, then no - he doesn't get my money. And if I had already bought something and then discovered that the creator's personal belief system was the antithesis of my own, I'd absolutely delete it. Anytime I used that product, I would remember that I bought something from a Nazi. It's a loss of lindens for me, but... meh. I can live with that. I'd rather not be faced with the fact that I did something that helped fund a Nazi. I was in need of a new dentist a few months ago. There is one with an office in my neighborhood. He parks his car out front with a banner hanging on it that says something about his support for Trump. Now instead of going to the dude in my neighborhood, I drive a couple miles away to a dentist who isn't a moron who alienates at least half of his potential new patients. He exercised his 1st amendment, and I exercised mine.
  3. Moisturizing? Good for you! More men should take their moisturizing routine more seriously! Everyone should have soft and supple skin!
  4. ...hands you a box of tissues and a bottle of lotion... Okay, there's the first 2 minutes. Only 2 hours and 58 minutes to go! šŸ¤Ŗ
  5. People who take their pets to a protest march with hundreds of people where tempers are going to be heated possibly to the point of bubbling over. LEAVE YOUR DAMN DOGS AT HOME then go protest your heart out.
  6. If weā€™re going to make this a thing, letā€™s really make it a thing. Answer in gifs! Doesnā€™t even need to be a Tay gif!
  7. No, we need Lindens. The people, not the currency, though thatā€™d be nice, too.
  8. Is blackmail covered by the TOS? Asking for a friend... literally. Seriously... @Ebbe Linden, @Patch Linden, @Kristin Linden? @Sparky Linden? @Dakota Linden? @Oz Linden? @Grumpity Linden? @Any Linden? I love you guys, for realsies, but a little help here, please?
  9. I know... I'm waiting for them to get the weather update in a few minutes. I'm afraid it's going to be canceled.
  10. Genuine real life honest to Pete pet peeve: Having to wear a bra in hot, humid weather. I just went to the pharmacy to pick up my happy pills (can you tell a difference yet??) and it was miserable. Boob sweat is an overlooked problem in our society and science needs to figure out how to stop it. When it's humid, there is no antiperspirant in the world that's gonna stop that shizz.
  11. Yes, you do. I'm not trying to trip you up, I'm just giving you information. https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-03-19/senior-shoppers-and-others-at-risk-of-coronavirus-get-special-times-at-these-stores That is from several weeks ago, so this may have changed as restrictions have been loosened. I just checked Ralph's and Albertson's and both of them still state that they have special hours set aside for high risk populations.
  12. Real live human beings are about to be shot into outer space in a rocket.
  13. Eddie is one of the things I shared with my mom. We both loved him, and whenever I see him, I'm reminded of all the hours we spent watching and laughing. Happy memories. I also got to see him live when I lived in LA and briefly met him after the show at the backstage door. Best. Night. Ever.
  14. When I was in my early 20s, a friend and I decided to become witches. It seemed wonderfully cool and edgy at the time. We found a little patchouli-scented bookstore and bought all the books (I think I still have them somewhere) and did all the rituals for becoming a witch ( don't remember exactly... I think it involved reading the Lord's Prayer backwards at midnight or something). Being the utter heathen I am, I took it with a grain of salt - I just wanted to be cool and edgy. My friend took it a bit more seriously and starting doing things like leaving little weird altars and talismans and burning things on the porches and cars of her ex-boyfriends. I stepped away and went back to being a plain old garden variety heathen. Not to diminish people who truly practice Wicca. It's as valid and real as any other religion. My point was really just that I didn't know what the hell I was doing. ...I still don't...
  15. Maybe not, but if it was meant to be posted elsewhere it reminds me of a Reddit thread from a couple years ago when someone received a new tea set (teapot, cups, lots of different loose teas) and went on Reddit to ask the Tea subreddit for advice on how make the best cup of tea. The poster somehow completely messed up, though, and posted his request in the Tattoos subreddit. They received something like 1,000 comments full of advice for making the perfect cup of tea from the tattoo aficionados. In comparison to a lot of threads around here recently, this one is a breath of fresh air and could be a burst of positivity that we greatly need right now.
  16. As a daughter, I can say that my father set the example of what a real man is. Every other man I've ever met in my life gets compared to him, and almost all have come up lacking. He set the bar very high through how he loved and treated my mother with respect, dignity, and reverence. He supported her without question. If they had a disagreement, they handled it behind closed doors through communication and not screaming and fighting. He raised his sons to know that women were equal. He raised all his kids to know that everyone is equal. He was never afraid to show his emotions - sadness, happiness, anger (in a healthy way), joy. My grandmother used to joke that he had his bladder behind his eyeballs because he wasn't afraid to cry in front of us, whether it was an especially touching Christmas commercial (I inherited this from him) or the loss of a pet, or the loss of one of his children. Being a girl dad is a huge and wonderful responsibility. Listen to her. Above all else, teach her that you love her unconditionally without question. And when she reaches that age, don't act embarrassed if she needs you to run to the store and buy pads. Act like it's no different than her needing you to run to the store for a loaf of bread. ā˜ŗļø
  17. He had it backwards. Every time a necropost is resurrected, a kitten in a shelter finds their new safe and loving furrever home.
  18. Educate your kids? Read to them often. Talk to them. Encourage them to always ask questions and be curious. Explore with them, even if it's just in the backyard or local park. Get a library card. Buy a magnifying glass. Listen to music together and talk about the lyrics. Watch NASA on YouTube. Teach them critical thinking skills and not to just accept an answer without being certain that the answer is the right one. Teach them how to explain their thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Communication skills are essential in critical thinking. Teach them to value the lessons that can be learned from others - both good and bad, and how to tell the difference between the two (see: critical thinking skills). Teach them that learning never ends. Inspire them to be passionately curious.
  19. Ashlyn and I donā€™t like each other. Sheā€™s 100% correct - though calling it a pet peeve isnā€™t nearly strong enough. I just watched a video of a police officer murder a black man while three other cops stood there actively not stopping the murder. I watched a video today of a true Karen calling the police to tell them a black man assaulted her for asking her to leash her dog. A group of racist imbeciles hung an effigy of my stateā€™s white governor in a tree on the capital grounds over the weekend because he regularly points out how COVID is disproportionately killing black Kentuckians, and he set up the first COVID testing areas in our largest city in a black neighborhood. This has to stop. These are crimes need to be prosecuted. These people need to receive jail time. Anyone who says racism isnā€™t a virulent issue in the US has willingly stuck their head up their butt to avoid looking around at reality. Iā€™m sick of it. Horrified, ashamed, and sick.
  20. Itā€™s her birthday today. Twitter scared the crap out of me when I saw she was trending.
  21. Babies shouldn't have candy. It's terribly bad for them and also a choking hazard. Taking candy away from a baby is keeping the baby healthy and alive.
  22. Since the definition of a pet peeve is something that a particular person finds especially annoying, and this is the pet peeves thread, mine for today (and yesterday, and the day before, and all the days to come) is the ignore function on these forums. It should be a block function, and allow a person to completely block another person from seeing, commenting, emoting, or reacting to that person's posts, as well as completely block the other person from the view of the blocker as if they don't exist. I used to love the forums, but one person became two, and those two became four, etc. No idea if they're all the same person, nor do I care, but being unable to remove that person/those people has made the forums an untenable place for me to be. I get too emotional when I see any sign of their existence. If I'm logged in, the urge to correct the history that is being fabricated is too much. If I'm logged out and just reading, I can stop myself. Just reading and not trusting myself to post is depressing, so I'm reading them less and less, and losing the connection I had to people here and that saddens me more. This was my social outlet during the pandemic. It's my decision, and one I hate, but I just can't be here as a participant until I'm in a better place, and I'm afraid that when I'm in that better place, I'll be too far removed from the forums that there is no coming back. So those people win because I just can't continue with the negativity they bring out in me for my own sanity. My mental and emotional well-being may be a game to others, but it isn't to me. TL:DR These forums need real block functionality.
  23. ... peeks in and takes the temperature of the forums... Nope, still awful. ... runs far away...
  24. Not me. I love the new logo and the sky blue. Iā€™ve already asked Ebbe for it on a t-shirt in SL and SL.
  25. What adds more reputation ponies to another personā€™s score - likes, laughs, or thank yous?
