  1. I've been in SL since 2006, and can honestly say I haven't encountered attacks like this since early 2007. Want to know how? It's simple, really .... I just don't frequent sims where this behavior is tolerated. The land owner can turn off "pushing" if they want to. Apparently they don't choose to do so on that beach you're being griefed at. There are a lot of beaches in SL. Go find a more friendly one! Marianne gave you some excellent advice, but for me it's better to just avoid the problem all together. I certainly wouldn't wear a shield, since that itself can trigger an eject or ban in certain sims I visit. (It may not be an issue where you go.)
  2. I'm thinking if you can select "run in a window", that should enable you to access Activity Monitor so you can force quit from there. I'm not too familiar with Firestorm, but on Singularity, this can be selected while still offline ... Edit >> Preferences >> Graphics >> Run Viewer in a window. As for why you have the white screen, I would love to dazzle you with brilliance, but sadly I haven't a clue. Hope somebody else can offer help on that! Good luck! Edit: just clearing up my poor typing!
  3. I'm experiencing the same texture fluctuations as you are, switching back and forth between crisp and blurry. I'm also on a mac, late 2011 MacBook Pro. I have the feeling it's the ATI gpu that's giving me the problem, and have sort of accepted my fate until I replace this laptop. (My next mac will be an Asus.) I'll post my system info below, if you want to compare yours to mine: Singularity Viewer 1.8.5 (5824) May 9 2014 18:21:37 (Singularity Alpha) Release Notes Grid: Second Life Built with Clang version 50100 CPU: Intel® Core i7-2860QM CPU @ 2.50GHz (2500 MHz) Memory: 16384 MB OS Version: Mac OS X 10.9.4 Darwin 13.3.0 Darwin Kernel Version 13.3.0: Tue Jun 3 21:27:35 PDT 2014; root:xnu-2422.110.17~1/RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64 Graphics Card Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc. 5. Add Turtle Bay to the list of regions that got two restarts this morning.
  6. Gadget Portal wrote: I have to admit, I full expected my JIRA to get closed and for them to tell me to use a different ISP, or say my underwear was to blame, or something. Well, on Wednesday they closed my Bug #5135 filed last Friday on the poor marketplace performance. Basically just told me they fixed it. They wouldn't lie .... would they? ;p "CommerceTeam Linden added a comment - 18/Feb/14 9:12 AM Thank you for your report there was a temporary issue with marketplace that was corrected. If you still experiencing slow searches please open a new ticket." EDITED to add copy/paste from LL email.
  7. For all the good that it will do, I filed a JIRA yesterday (Friday) for this. Past experience has shown that LL will just let the complaint sit for a month or so, and then send me an email saying they are closing the ticket since it's working okay then. Of course it would be nice if we could see and vote on JIRA reports again. Perhaps I wouldn't have had to file my ticket, if I could only see that 100 others had voted on an existing JIRA. Wow, what a novel concept that would be - actually knowing if something is going wrong! ;p Alas, it's not the LL way. They prefer to hide these issues, and hope we don't notice. In answer to your question, I agree with Dres. None of us here will know when this will be resolved, and LL probably doesn't know either, and it's debatable whether or not they even care. /Rant Off
  8. That's exactly how I would have performed a clean install also. Sadly, I can't say you're doing anything wrong. Only help I can offer now, is to offer you use of my brick walls to beat your head against. Good luck, and I hope you find success with this soon!
  9. You have my sympathy, Eagle. I had a very similar setup and the same X1600 gpu in my old 2007 MacBook Pro, except that I was running Snow Leopard. Frankly I'm surprised that SL is still tolerable at all on that graphics chip. I threw in the towel in late 2011, and bought a new MBP. Good for you though, you're much more patient than I am! Back to the question ... I don't know why the SL viewer is dumping you, but just for laughs, have you thought about giving either Singularity or Firestorm a go? In my experience, both of those viewers perform better on my macs than the SL release viewers have. Just a thought, and hope your experience turns better soon! (Edited to retract inaccurate upgrading system assumption)
  10. Go to an area where you can rezz objects. Drag the object onto the ground there, and then right click and select "open", and then "copy to inventory". Delete or take the original object back into inventory. Your clothing will be in a folder in your "recent" tab of inventory. Good luck, and welcome to Second Life! Edited to add: Oops, Trinity beat me to it! Follow her advice!

Cincia Singh wrote: Unscheduled Inventory Maintenance Posted by Status Desk on April 20th, 2013 at 09:37 am PDT [Posted 9:38am PDT, 20 April 2013] We are currently performing unscheduled server maintenance. During this time, some residents may experience issues rezzing, derezzing, changing clothing, or loading inventory. This maintenance may also disrupt transactions and logins. Please refrain from transacting with L$ or rezzing valuable (no-copy) items until this issue is resolved. Monitor this blog for additional updates. Rah-rah. If you put down the cheerleader pom-poms, you might notice the "whining" began hours before LL ever bothered to post (and backdate) a Grid Status notice. Forgive us our whining, for Linden Lab doesn't give a crap about keeping us informed.
  12. Estate owners can already restart their sims whenever they like, so I assume you're talking about mainland sims. Aside from that small point, I'm afraid that no amount of restarts are going to correct a roll-back. Hypothetical situation: LL rolls back my sim "Turtle Bay" to a previous state, and the couch I put out this morning disappears into thin air. I notice this several hours later, and restart my sim. Once the restart is complete, the couch is still gone, because my restart will only put the data back to the point in time of the last "save" (for want of a better term). I think what you're really asking, is for the ability to roll-back your sim at your whim. That simply isn't going to happen, I'm afraid. I'm not even sure I'd want that ability for my own sims, as there are just too many conceivable problems waiting to pop up when a sim gets rolled back to a previous state.
  13. I'm afraid LL isn't giving away free land, nor are any sim-owners that I'm aware of, including myself. I think the closest you're going to find, are the "free" Linden Homes offered to Premium members. Become Premium, and pay a fee, and they will give you a "free" home with 117 prims. Estate owners such as myself, charge far more than that premium membership will cost you. Good luck and have fun!
  14. I'm an active Bloodlines player and can verify from firsthand experience that a 1 day old avie can purchase and use a Bloodlines hud. I'm not sure where you got the figure of "30 days", since the only limitation I'm aware of is that a noob avie must be at least 14 days old, IF they do not have a hud. They can buy a hud even if they are only 1 minute old, and then can immediately bite and be bitten. I don't see the "rule" in the Bloodlines Guide either, but I've had enough 1 day old avies purchasing huds through my vendor, that I can attest it is fact and not fiction. I've always felt this rule was in place to keep those nasty spampires from biting all the noobs as they exit Orientation Isle on their first day in SL. Rolig is absolutely correct that this is a Bloodlines rule, and not a TOS issue. (Edited to add last line.)
  15. I think Perrie was hoping you would post your system specs found on your viewer window. (Help/About Firestorm). Those would look something like this: Firestorm 4.2.2 (29837) Aug 27 2012 19:25:26 (Firestorm-Release) Release Notes CPU: Intel® Core i7-2860QM CPU @ 2.50GHz (2500 MHz) Memory: 8192 MB OS Version: Mac OS X 10.7.5 Darwin 11.4.2 Darwin Kernel Version 11.4.2: Thu Aug 23 16:25:48 PDT 2012; root:xnu-1699.32.7~1/RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64 Graphics Card Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc. Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 6770M OpenGL Engine I'm on a Mac, so maybe what works for me, won't work for you. But what I've found helps tremendously is turning down my draw distance to the minimum allowed. I'm accustomed to having draw set at 128, but whenever I have a failed tp, I dial the draw down to the minimum, and almost always complete the tp on my second try. Not sure if it will work for you, but it's definitely worth a try. Good luck! (Edited to correct spelling)
  16. EDIT TO ADD: Sorry, this was meant to reply to the OP, not SinfulPrince. I'm on Singularity, and I'm wondering if you happen to sometimes use Firestorm or Phoenix instead. If so, I probably have an answer for you ... Go to "worn items" in inventory, and detach any "bridge" you might be wearing. This bridge sometimes gets carried over from the Firestorm viewer session, and it causes heck with Singularity's inventory. Singularity doesn't need or want this bridge, so detach it, relog, and enjoy sl. Good luck!

LL rarely reads these forums. Unfortunately, my experience has been that LL seldom pays attention to responses to their own questionnaires either. I gave up my premium account some time ago, and expressed my frustration at the time. Since then, I've observed absolutely zero evidence that LL even read my words. Shrugging my shoulders now, I guess it doesn't matter. If they don't care, then I don't either. It is what it is, and all we can do is watch the flames grow higher, and consume all that once was. (Edited to correct spelling.)
  18. Syndel Daviau wrote: My offer is 150 USD and the SELLER pays the transfer fee. LOL Thank you! I was having a really bad day, but now I'm grinning from ear to ear after that good chuckle. Good luck with your search, but don't hold your breath!
  19. Yay! SVC-7847 and related ticket SVC-7837 both appear fixed on my sim after today's rollout on the main channel. Thank you! It's been a long three months not having those tools available to me! 20. As far as I'm concerned, Casperlet is a much better choice than Hippo. I used Hippo for years, and happily removed them from my sim about 6 months ago and have been enjoying Casperlet system since. Check them both out, and then make your decision. (Edited to correct spelling.)
  21. The JIRA SVC-7847 has been categorized as "fix pending" for some time now. Trying not to whine too much, but not having the ability to sort top scripts is seriously impacting management of my sim. What is a reasonable amount of time to wait for LL to fix what they broke with their inadequately tested update? 3 months? 3 years? Longer? Sorry, I know nobody here knows the answer. I just felt the need to vent. Going back to muttering under my breath. ;p
  22. I've been using Singularity on my MacBook Pro, and love it. (Singularity Viewer 1.6.0 (3) Dec 12 2011 22:55:53 ) Offhand, I'm not sure where you'd download that because it's a modified version not on the Singularity website. I obtained the download link when it was posted in the Mac Users Group IM. If you ask in there, you may get the link. One note about using Singularity .... Make sure to detach any Phoenix or Firestorm Bridge, as Singularity doesn't need it, and it will definitely cause strange problems. (Just detach in Inventory/Worn Items.) As for settings, if you're on Singularity and IM me inworld, we can compare notes. My system may be a bit different from yours though. My System Info: CPU: Intel® Core i7-2860QM CPU @ 2.50GHz (2500 MHz) SSE Support: SSE2 Memory: 8192 MB OS Version: Mac OS X 10.7.4 Darwin 11.4.0 Darwin Kernel Version 11.4.0: Mon Apr 9 19:32:15 PDT 2012; root:xnu-1699.26.8~1/RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64 Graphics Card Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc. 23. I'm on Singularity Viewer 1.6.0 (3). I have the same problem with not being able to use "filter by" to identify top scripts in Estate/debug menu. I can however, still use "refresh". I first noticed this issue about 2 weeks ago, but haven't gotten around to trying to figure out what the problem is.
  24. IM me inworld, and I'll drop one on you.
