Exactly, a good builder can work wonders with few textures etc and like I said if the first intall of the viewer was specific to the avatar that was chosen and so also the welome area / sim its cache already populated as far as it can be!

The welcome areas would have lots of tutorials and things to get new residents started (they already have that) The themed welcome areas could be one to a region (LL could reduce the number of avatar choices they already have) So the whole region outside the welcome area could have interactive objects here and there that new residents could click on etc (with signs with instructions etc) as they explore, LL introduced pathfinding that not many regions use, maybe LL could use pathfinding on these regions to showcase its potential^^ One word of caution though, don't use materials or advanced lighting on the first viewer download ^^ or it will be lag city!

I have lost the list, but ... From memory New residents when they sign up get to choose a starter avatar! So.. Depending on the AV they pick, that decides the welcome area they rezz in for the first time, so its themed to correspond to their chosen av! Welcome areas:- The themed welcome areas should have all the assets, textures etc, be loaded into the chache on the viewer download for that first time so that the welcome area rezzes very fast The cam / movement control should be on screen by default on first install (if that's not be done already, I did open a jira about that ages ago) to aid in looking around above and below eye level! As to themed welcome areas, open a contest with a good prize for themed welcome areas to be built there were other things but I can't remember theme right now

I can see why LL are using those themes, 'romantic sims' are very popular in sl even more so than 'sex type sims' although I am sure one must lead to the other ^^ But as others have said there is so much more to SL! LL seem to be aiming for teens, ex FB teens, since they know full well teens are leaving FB in droves, but there lies the problem, do teens have money to spend?

I had a short list of easy ideas some years ago, that I posted on SLU (because Lindends used to view that forum) I also sent it to a few Lindens and the last CEO, but I never heard anything back, I even offered to build a themed welcome area for free!

Before LL changes its marketing techniques, I think there should be a major improvment with the new resident welcome areas, this is the very first impression of SL that a new resident getts! Last time i looked at a welcome area they were... well rubish to be polite

If you have 8 gig of ram I would use the ramdisk option, ok it takes longer to shut down your pc if you have it set to save to hdd on shut down but i find for some reason my inv is loads instantly now and I have a big inv. I have an ssd and a secondary hybrid drive, the ssd don't seem that much faster than the hybrid drive.

Abuse report the sender of the note card and they may well get banned from SL

I have never seen more than two or 3 avs in a mall for years that were not bots, two rent boxes would cause more 'lag' than 200 collision sensors! Ohh and don't even mension scripted vendors lol

I have owned a club in SL for almost 6 years and we no longer use contest boards, because i dont like people cheeting I get the staff to write the top 5 names down who they think should win and send them to me and i add my choices, but i also have final say and can change the winners if i wish, btw i dont have favouritism for anyone

I think all of this is just another haibrained idea by LL just like buying banner adds on the MP for loads of money, it will be just as big a failure

The festive season is apon us, it will soon be Halloween and then Christmas and since people only have so much money it could just be that people are gearing up for Halloween, my sales have trippled at least because of Halloween sales in the last 4 weeks!

So LL now own all the ripped Skyrim content on the MP ^^ i am sure Bethesda would be interested in that, now there is some one worth taking to court for compensation! I hope LL have plenty of staff to start policing the content in SL and on the MP!

Thats more likely people who have qit SL coz of sever side baking and those people may have had several weeks or months rend paid and now just showing up!
