  1. I have built an object (basically a flat billboard). But I want to view it 100% centrally in my screen. But it's a pain to do with trying to rotate, zoom my view. Is there a really simple easy way to centre my object on my screen to view it dead centre on? Thanks
  2. Heh. Every once in a while someone suggests that, but the downside is that many old threads contain perfectly good information. Even the ones that have aged poorly provide an archival view of where we have been. Linden Lab seems to feel the same way, since they only seem to close threads when participants have violated the Community Guidelines. It's hard to win, regardless of which side of the issue you are on, but you did ask. My own personal rules are: 1. Stay on topic and don't add to threads that have been dormant for a year or more, and 2. Don't believe everything that you read in a thread that is more than a year old. Those rules have served me well for 14 years, but they are just my own guidelines. I like to avoid getting confused or confusing other people. Your mileage may vary. I don't want to get involved in this thread or discussion really, as I have no idea what is right / wrong / allowed / not allowed. But as a previous addition that I made to an old thread has been referenced in this thread, I would just like to clarify that I wasn't asking a NEW question. If i was, then of course I would have started a new post) I was actually in my opinion, adding a valid comment/viewpoint to an older thread. I felt the fact that it was an older thread, made no difference to what i felt was a valid point I was adding to that thread. Especially as that thread came up high in a search on that particular topic. (I also agree with the person above, that its not very easy to see the banner that says you are adding to an older thread - and very easy to miss. Therefore I stick to my original point, and that is if Second Life does not want to allow further additions to be made to older posts, then surely they should/can easily restrict them to being just archive posts only). That way, the older info would be available - but they couldn't be added to and thus resurface to the top - which is what seems to be annoying/frustrating some people? - then that would be a 'win win' for everyone, and easy solution to the issue I would have thought)
  3. I didn't have a new question. I was adding a comment/opinion/personal thought to the thread. But perhaps it would be best all round if the owners of the second life forum just closed old threads then, if it's such an issue to add to them. πŸ™‚
  4. Thanks. Makes sense πŸ™‚ (and , I was happy to add to this post, regardless of it being a year old. I didn't 'dig it' it up as such. It came up very quickly and easily., and it was was still relevant to me, and I felt it valid to add a contribution to the topic, which may be of benefit to other noobs like me, who find it in the exact same way I did. (not sure I understand why anyone 'wouldn't like that'?. #Confused?) πŸ™‚ Thanks again
  5. Something I found out (and I think I am right on this - but happy to be corrected if I am just being a dummy?) But I noticed that if you mark a group you are a member of to now show in your profile, then no one will see you are member of that group if they view your profile. HOWEVER if you make that group active, then that will be seen above your head, despite you being a member of that group 'hidden' in your profile. To me that kind of defeats the point of not showing membership of a group in your profile - if actually everyone can still see you are part of it, in a big bubble above your head, if you make it active.. And (as a noob) I wish I had been aware of sooner aware of.
  6. Anyone know of other ways to embed photos in forum posts/replies. (eg. alternatives to flickr?)
  7. I'd opt out of 'logging into' REAL LIFE to avoid getting injured or hurt if i could, never mind SECOND LIFE
  8. β€œSleep: Those little slices of death, how I loathe them” – Edgar Allen Poe
  9. Or FREE GUY. The new Ryan Reynolds film about the non-playing character who lives in a open world video game Free City, and slowly becomes aware of his world being a video game. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_Guy
  10. Just joined SL in past week or so. And LOVING IT. So much so, I am now staring to invest considerable time and money in settings, avatars, clothes, objects, animations, landmarks, etc etc etc As there is no way to back anything up, or transfer (most things), and everything 'lives' on LL servers. Considering the investment in time/money I am making, my question is this... Is there any scenario where I could lose everything - including my account? EG - say if I didn't login in for a set amount of time, etc. As having to start again, from scratch, would be massive pain, and could be costly in time and money to get everything back to how I liked it, especially the more I get into this. So I wanted to ask this NOOB question, before I get too far down the rabbit hole. Many thanks for any answers or reassurances.
  11. Thanks again for clarification, and useful tips. Especially about using older guidance in these forums, that may now be outdated. very useful tip. πŸ™‚ My post response, mainly though was a suggested answer/solution to the initial question, about organising favourites, and the method I read about that I have found useful, and wanted to share. And by that, I mean using generic browser bookmark folders to organise marketplace favourites. Works well for me and may be of use to others. (the 'wish' about that feature being built in to SL at the end of my post was just an afterthought, but not the main focus of my contribution to this thread, which was, as i say, mainly about suggesting using browser book marks). Thank you again.
  12. Thanks. (does it matter I have responded to an ancient thread?. After all, I am new, so as threads go, although it was posted a long time a go, it was new to me). πŸ™‚
  13. Totally brand new to SL here. And just starting to try and learn. and every single day I learn something more amazing the the last thing i discovered or learned. And I had no idea that this tinies/dinkies was a thing, but sounds AWESOME. Thanks for sharing and providing insight. I need to learn more.
  14. I just read an idea - which was to use general browser bookmark folders for your favourites, that way you can have one browser folder called FAVOURITES, and then create as many subfolders under that as you like, with relevant names. That way you can just bookmark marketplace items to your FAVOURITES browser folder, and keep them in some kind of order. But it would be good if you could create folders in your SL favourites or wishlists, in the same way you can in shopping sites like AMAZON.
