    I think it is more than this. Why do you choose that imagery, and what are you trying to say with it? Adding a cigarette to the hand of a villain to make him look evil is one thing, adding one to the hand of a beautiful woman to make her more glamorous is another. Where does your attitude come from? Are you influenced by the marketing of tobacco companies without even realizing it?

    I was the one who raised the question that started this whole mess, but I did not ask if these images should be restricted or banned. Individuals make choices, just because you are free to do so does not mean you should. I am free to stick a Confederate flag decal on my car, but I choose not to. I am not now nor will I ever be in favor of censorship.

    Show me where I said adults should not be allowed to smoke if they so choose. People should be allowed to post pictures of people smoking, or commiting suicide, or drunk driving, or gang rape, whatever they want. I just think people should think about the images they post. Apparently promoting thinking is a bad thing.

    Oh I know my comments here won't change the world, but the world does change gradually as people speak up about things they believe.

    And which multi billion dollar industry used deceptive advertising to lure people into using it's products and contributed to those deaths? Let me know and I will avoid such images.

    Ok so here it is. There has been considerable discussion in another thread over a question I raised about images containing cigarettes. I admit, it is a pet peeve of mine. Probably because my Father died of a heart attack when I was 19, and while there is no way to know for sure, it seems likely that he would have lived longer if he never smoked. He may well have met my wife, attended my wedding, and held my children when they were little. I am sure that images of beautiful people smoking in cigarette ads contributed to him starting smoking and getting addicted. So now such images bother me. I hold to a politically incorrect view of the Confederacy, however I would never use it's imagery either here or in RL out of respect for the feelings of others. To me images of smoking are in the same category.

    Consenting adults can hop around however they likw, and in fact many of the girls I am seen "hopping around with" are people i only have conversations with, are you suggesting that it is somehow wrong to have a coversation with a different person each day? Tobacco companies have used images of beautiful people smoking to promote thier products, In the United Staes this practice has led to bans on tobbaco advertizing. In this day of cancel culture, where we attempt to remove from teh culture anything or anyone wvwn remotely associated with things that are harmeful, I fail to understand why we cling to this notion that a cigarette is an appropriate prop,

    I used to have stuff vanish from inventory all the time, the quick fix I found was to log into the SL viewer, wear the missing item, which would not be missing with that viewer, then log back on to Firestorm. Not the "right way" to deal with the issue, but it allowed me to get the things I wanted.

    Of course not, the question is the cumulative effects of multiple people doing it, and do we want to be a part of that?

    I did that, and was ridiculed for not being able to get a real person. Then I post with a real person and get chastised for that. Like I said, they just want me to go away.

    As I said, I have been taught in other forums not to make two posts in a row in the same thread. You say it ok here. But I know that if I did I would get jumped on for highjacking the thread. You just won't be happy till I stop posting altogether.

    I think it is a legitimate question, and appropriate for this thread since it deals with the images that are posted here. I think it is something that people who post here should seriously consider, not everyone will answer the same way, and that is OK.
