  1. Perhaps Patch decided to do the Fog of War and won't be announcing or hinting at releases, they will just happen for some lucky people who happen to be watching the page.
  2. I stayed out of the Bellisseria group chats today when the region release was happening. Not looking for a home. Husband took a Traditional and paused his search for a houseboat. But I have heard in the groups later on and spotted a few complaining here in the forums, as well as a few personal in-world friends, that the new Linden time-out is glitchy. Perhaps Linden Labs is aware of this or can look into it. I do agree with the limited refreshing and getting a time out from excess hits. But when people are getting timed out just by opening the page, seeing a new house and clicking on the NEXT button and losing their chance or hitting the refresh once or twice only and getting a time out, that is a bug, if its supposed to be set up on a 1 refresh cycle per minute, before a time out. I'd be frustrated, too. Lets hope that Linden Labs is looking into this so that doesn't continue to happen.
  3. Here's the playing field, as the referee tosses the coin into the air. I approve.
  4. I want to note here that Patch Linden did not state that using Auto Refresh was banned. If he said that in his post, please point this out to me. He did state it causes a strain on the servers when many people are running these types of programs. Those that use them need to be considerate of this fact and lower the time rate down so the page does not refresh as often. People can still manually mash the page as quick as the 1 second Auto Refresh, its merely more tiring and thank goodness, fingers will tire out and give the server a break. Patch also said that due to those using Auto Refresh, they will now get time out messages (error page) to slow down the strain on their servers and this is a good thing. Linden Labs will protect their equipment at any cost from an overload. It would be nice if there was a way to stop the Auto Refresh from engaging when a region release is pending and everyone had to manually click on that page, but as far as I know, this is not the case yet.
  5. Goodness, I've been meaning to post these photos for a few days now. Lia took us up flying over Bellisseria continent as she ran a SAR mission. It was an exciting hour long flight, though we had a few mishaps. The rescue swimmer was sliced in half a couple of times by the rotor blades, but worry not! We had some extra Band-Aids and Life Savers on hand and patched her right up. The hour long flight finally came to an abrupt end. And I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. PS: No souls were lost on this flight. - Banged up. Bruised. Roasted. Toasted. Sliced and Diced but we all lived! -
  6. We tried that, like half a dozen times. Still not working. Got a ticket submitted though.
  7. If your mailbox rezzer stops working and won't rez a home, do you put in a ticket to have a Linden or Mole reset it?
  8. I witnessed some fairly nasty remarks in the chats today, and I even got an unpleasant IM from someone about my congratulating a friend that was fortunate today to get a home in Bandit region. I was basically told to knock it off, it was bragging and offensive. I find it shameful when some people let their own pettiness blind them from the effects of joy and happiness, others wish to express over the good fortune of eager members finally getting their Linden homes. Apparently only their own good fortune matters to them.
  9. I'm sure LL has capabilities we can only dream of. I know of Fly Cams and if they use something akin to this, then they would not actually have to be physically in world in an avatar but still able to monitor an area or possibly work on it. Such Secrets!
  10. It might be Sylvia. And you might be correct to your prior post. I have not seen that message before today. It could be Linden Labs normal error message and perhaps I received it today due to a higher strain on the server than normal. Patch did state in group chat today that the servers were going crazy and heating up. It sounded in jest but I think he was serious, that the high traffic was overloading and some were seeing laggy delays as pages worked to refresh and some of us saw the above message.
  11. Actually they are. We got that message page Patch was talking about earlier today a few times. This happened during the period prior to the region release today and its the first time we ever saw this message before on that page. Now, its no longer coming up, due to lower traffic monitoring that page. (I could be wrong here, too! just saying.)
  12. We know that some people are using a plug-in or a browser feature to reload the home selection page, and as much as we admire the tenacity, we need to pump the brakes a bit on that traffic. Pretty soon you will start to see an error page if you have your browser set to continuously refresh those pages. No need to fear! The website is still functional. It’s just to give our servers a little breather. You will be able to resume activity again after the timeout period is over. - Patch Linden The Auto Refresh still works. I'm using it now and have had 2 hits on Traditional houses, that I missed out on due to lack of attention. Its when traffic gets heavy on that server page that you might get a time out page to slow down the traffic. i.e. during times when region releases are pending and the traffic rate is high. Note: If you are still using an Auto Refresh, I'd suggest to reduce the refreshing time lower to avoid the time out page.
  13. Patch is no longer revealing which region will be released that day, due to many rushing into the region before its release and causing a huge strain for it to rez in after its restarted and released. He has been giving hints of a pending region release still in group chats though and that drums up the traffic on the server as people use the Auto Refresh plug ins. So now they'll get a time out message at times to slow the strain on said severs so they can continue to function.
  14. Yes, I read that it'll give a time out, but with less having a more certain idea when a region release is coming, the traffic would hit on that page less and thus, the time out warning page would not pop up as often for some. The Auto Refresh will still work, but when masses are using it, some will get a time out message page occasionally to slow the server strain down.
  15. You are so right on that Jewell. We can't please all the people. I suppose its the distress at witnessing those that begrudge others luck, or those working diligently to get the releases out as quickly as they can. But it could possibly be a solution to slow down the strain on their servers when premium members are less sure when a pending region release is coming. Instead of several thousand hitting that refresh over and over, it might drop the traffic down some.
  16. What does Fog of War mean? The uncertainty in situational awareness experienced by participants in military operations. The term seeks to capture the uncertainty regarding one's own capability, adversary capability, and adversary intent during an engagement, operation, or campaign. So what does this terminology have to do with Second Life's new Linden homes releases? The forums are filled with posts from members giving their thoughts, opinions or frustrations on the lack of available new Linden homes, or their inability to land one of these high demand homes. The servers are even straining at the times that residents are guessing when Patch Linden will release them, straining the performance of the web page as the masses run to their Auto Refresh and stare in bewilderment, awaiting their special golden ticket to a new Linden home. Is this really causing an issue on Linden Labs page? Well, some of us saw this pop up a few times during the waiting time for today's release. Mind you, we have not seen this before (though others may have). The servers did remain stable enough and when the release came, a new lot of lucky residents happily got their new Linden homes. And congratulations to each of them. The downside to this, is the handful (not all) of residents that again, missed out on their opportunity and sadly begrudge the new home owners. They rant in the group chats of how unfair this is, some come and continue their rant on the forum pages. Is it fair they did not get their homes when they want them? Well, I can't answer that, obviously Linden Labs does not have enough new homes for all premium residents craving ownership in a beautiful new community, at this time. Probably what is more worrisome, is with each single region release, the bitterness gets more intense as does the demand and pressure on Linden Labs server performance. Is there a solution to this? Is there a means to calm the masses, especially the ones swallowing that bitter pill of disappointment? Patch Linden and the Moles are hard at work and certainly don't deserve some of the nasty criticism. So what solution can there be to relieve those hard at work as they scurry to deliver more homes each week? Its troublesome to see large groups of people rushing into the region they think will be the next to be released. This does cause a strain on the region, especially if it is the one to be released that day. And we all have peppered Patch Linden with hundreds of questions in group chat about what he's doing, is there a release today, when will it be, will there be houseboat, soon, sooner, sooner enough? Even I have hummed in my own curious questions to Patch. He remains ever polite and gives us little teases of hints but keeps it a mystery. For myself, I find it very entertaining. But for others, who don't get their homes after eagerly waiting, they aren't so nice. (We'll leave it politely at that) An idea. A solution. It might be best for Patch Linden to maybe consider doing a Fog of War region release in the future. Residents know that there will be weekly releases, but I'd suggest to give no further information than that. Not the day of the week, not the time, no hints of a pending region release. The disappointment for some of these residents is rather shocking. Some getting virtually ill, or refusing to go into work, cancelling appointments and trips. These are things we have seen mentioned in group chats or on the forums. To alleviate the pressure for all, those working to get new Linden homes out and those premium members trying to get their new Linden home; less might be more. Give them the Fog of War. This could alleviate strain on the community in general. The Lindens. The Moles. The Servers. The home page. Us as a community. Keeping all in the fog. Patch and the Moles can still give us their warm, entertaining chats, cause we love those; but witnessing the disappointment and anger, day in and day out, has to put a strain on the community for all involved. OP is only offering these thoughts for insight. It is not a complaint or criticism, and perhaps not a welcomed solution, for what is functioning now to release new Linden homes to premium members.
  17. Husband released a house in Smokey region about 3 hours ago. It still has not come up. So if you are wanting a house, keep your eye on the page. It could pop at any time or it might be hours before it shows available again.
  18. I cracked up laughing at you getting out of bed to claim your house. That is awesome, congrats on that unique technique! 😂
  19. Updated July 10, 2019 Due to the strain on Linden Labs servers with many of us using the Auto Refresh feature, I feel it is best to remove this information I posted earlier. I do wish all premium members the opportunity to get a new Linden home but feel I need to do my part NOT to contribute to issues causing lag on the home feature page. With regards to all, Prudence Anton
