  1. A lady in the store tried convincing my daughter to buy a doll because dinosaurs are for boys. So my five year old roared at her. I'm not even embarrassed.
  2. Everybody is an atheist until they clog a toilet in someone else's house.
  3. Foxes are dogs running cat software with a dolphin soundboard.
  4. I would just like tho thank the person who told my daughter that when she lies her eyes turn a different color. Now she squeezes her eyes shut every time she lies... and my job just became a whole lot easier.
  5. I'm 40, and thankful because all the cringe stuff I did as a kid and teenager isn't publicly posted on the internet.
  6. There's a meme for that. I posted it somewhere in this thread. lol I think that's where i got that from, so thanks 😛
  7. I said what i had to say on that thing in the other threads. So if it gets locked, Hi everyone, I made it.
  8. No... Just.... No.... come one people. It's a straight forward question. I'm not asking what you think is PII or what you "feel" is. I'm asking for a clear provable case in where personal information has been shared. Heck, it doesn't even have to be a bot at this point. In case it isn't obvious by this point, i'm trying to point out that it never happened. LL has not had any PII (Personal Identifiable Information) leaked by a bot. All that has ever happened is the stuff people have put on their profiles has been "leaked". So what, i ask you. So what... People here need to really understand that what you put on your profile is going to be out there. I can not believe this is such a hard thing to understand. And advocating for bots to be banned outright is just silly. I'm sorry but it is. You can break into a car with a screwdriver, should you ban screwdrivers now? No. I'm sorry but unless someone can point me to a case (PM me, if you must) then i can not take you serious if you're the one pinning this on LL. I don't know how else to say this. You can not go and put information on your public profile and then hold this against LL, you just can't if you're honest with yourself. I know i will never get a PM here or someone actually pointing to a case because it doesn't exist.
  9. Ok, fair enough. It's possible you don't actually live where i assumed you did. I made an assumption based on your username. I did however do a quick google search to find out what countries do actually prohibit someone from filming another without consent . Now i do have a rough idea where you live Nevertheless it is not an argument because in most of the world when you are out in public you have to assume you are being filmed. Also, don't call me sweetie. There is no reason for you to become so hostile and animated over this. Also, my earlier question still stands; Someone, tell me about a case where real life information has been published by a bot...
  10. @Dorientje Woller By your name i can identify roughly where you're from. and here's the kicker, i'm also from that country and I hate to break it to you but this 👏 does 👏not 👏apply 👏here.👏 Point me to the law of our country that says information you've put out on the internet may not actually be shared. I'll wait.
  11. I'm sorry, that does not qualify as real life information and you know it.
  12. I'm not looking for a "yes, it happened to me". I asked "do anyone know of a case" were a bot exposed someone's rl info. I'm following along in this thread and i see a lot of people up in arms about data, data and data. But i've repeated several times now that this profile data is what users put on their profile and it is intended to be seen by people, why else would one put it on there? I find it just really curious that now there is this great big hoopla over this "data" because a bot collected it and put it on a third party website. You all knew this would sooner or later happen at one point. Lots of people quote policies and snippets of other website's policies but still nobody has acknowledged or answered me when i say "you've put that information out there". I would really want someone to answer me this instead of blaming LL for allowing it to happen. I can't believe i'm defending LL in this case but i have to, because it's just how it is. So please, someone. Try and answer me this question: Does anyone know of a case were a bot exposed someone's real information. The stipulation however is that said rl information may not have been put in one's profile. Thank you.
  13. So, We're 16 pages in now. Can anyone point to a specific case where a bot has exposed someone's real life information? This isn't a gotcha. I'm actually really curious. Aside from RedZone obviously, i mean recently, perhaps the BBots...
  14. I'm assuming you mean that LL is responsible. In that case i can throw it right back at the user. They should also be responsible for what they put out there... I will leave it at that because i don't want LL to use this as an excuse in closing this thread. So far i am very proud of them for letting this go on over 24 hours now.
  15. LL does not 'not want' users to put their PII out there, the option to do so is there. Heck, the option to do so is everywhere. I can in this very post tell you exactly who i am, where i live and even upload a picture of me. Are you now going to advocate to close down the forums? I can tell someone in local chat or group chat exactly who i am. You wanna shut down inworld chat now? Not trying to belittle you at all but you have to be reasonable. The option is there, doesn't mean you have to. And besides, i'm going to turn 10 in SL next month. I am curious as heck and check out a lot of profiles when i'm just passively reading along inworld group chats or here on the forums. Not one single time have i ever run into a profile that shared personal information apart from the occasional real life pic. Again, i sort of see your point but i completely disagree with it. Even if LL eventually decides to do away with the 'real life' tab on profiles, people who actually want that info to be out there (keyword WANT), will put it on there. Trying to get rid of an option on the profile because of "less intelligent/educated" people is a potential for people to yet again dunk on LL for doing away with a function of it's service. Slippery slope. The key to take away here really is that not too many people actually share real life info, so i really don't see the point. I have stated this and Tommy shortly after did as well. What you put on your profile is potentially going to be seen by a lot of people because you've chosen to share that info. On the flip side of all this, i do see the concern of this info taken to third party websites by bots but I've already said many times now that none of you can expect LL to police the rest of the internet. That's just not how the internet works. The point i can understand is why LL allows bots to read profile content. We can go back and forth on this till the cows come home. I will keep repeating till the rist of spamming that what you willingly put out there is out there for anyone to see. If you say you know "tons of people" that don't see the potential danger in this, then perhaps you may educate them on this matter but downright prohibiting it isn't the way to go about it.
  16. @Dorientje Woller You can not expect (LL, in this case) to babysit or educate ignorant people on the "dangers" of the internet. I sort of see your concern but you are advocating for the impossible here i'm afraid.
  17. Nobody is forcing you to put anything about your real life person in the "real life" tab and if someone needs a warning about putting real life information in that tab, then that someone should not be on the internet. There is this saying: "The internet never forgets."
  18. Are you yanking my chain now? You of all people here should know how the internet works, come on now Also, i didn't know they did that. That's hilarious.
  19. Nowhere, because LL's ToS doesn't apply to a third party website....
  20. Totally agree. As i said before, that policy was last updated January 2014. I'm 'too young' to have seen RedZone but I've heard about it from the 'elders of SL' lol. The BBots whom shall not be named and RedZone undeniably have a lot in common.
