  1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Not_even_wrong Thanks for the surprising Like @Nikki2298 but...
  2. Your photos are wonderful! The Sarabande Theatre Group has a Flickr which would love to have these beautiful photos added, if you have what is needed to do that. I don't have flickr, so I'm not much help, but I have seen the photos and such things as beautiful photos like these will really help promote these talented and dedicated performers ♥♥🎥💃🕺
  3. @Prokofy, long before you paid much attention to CC , Land Cutter took 1.75 Regions and immediately sold some to Land Cutter 2 who immediately began the cut, Rez 2006 made cabin in full bright, stick floating rotating FOR SALE sign and I said. WHOA!!! No way mister Land Cutter… not in my neighbourhood… I bought the 3 parcels Land Cutter 2 had already set for sale and returned the 2006 full bright cabins of horrors and said to Land Cutter 1 I give the land to you on the condition that you use the existing landscaping and houses, all you need to do is set down rent metres. He halted and the next day agreed to let my Landscaper/Builder redecorate the land to gorgeous. Then he let the land sit for a couple of months as I stated above. SO, I knew exactly what his plan had been and that he decided to try a new approach because he loved CC and that it was so big, spreading continuously through 15 Regions, the riding trails, roads FREE access to that beautiful beach front for EVERYONE. I didn’t rent the most beautiful coast in SL to any single tenant for any price because it belonged to EVERYONE, not just Group members and not just CC tenants but totally open and connected by a road from Circuit La Corse to Couse Region of Coastal Protected Water. If I rented the beach to a ‘special’ tenant then it would no longer belong to everyone. There’s plenty of beachfront land to rent all over Mainland and infinitely more in Estates. I knew exactly who Land Cutter was and what his first instinct was and I told him… no, not here. He took a month or so looking and learning, doing his research and truthfully told me he couldn’t take it on at that time. I took the land back and got a few more helpers to set out my own CasperLet equipment, metres, kiosks and web extension Vendors and create a website… and we could barely keep up with demand. We had a waiting list most of that year and set up Multiscene Skydomes to hold any of those on the waiting list until the parcel they wanted was made or vacated if was currently rented. The occupancy rate never dropped below 80% and the norm was 92% occupancy. Land Cutter was given all the statistics and was impressed enough to try a community on some contiguous Estates. I never had any problem affording the tier… I had periods where I could not see, as in I was BLIND so I needed someone to manage the tenants and the website, Google Calendar, events, socmed, and inworld Tours and activities. I had some fabulous help… but really needed a single Boss to oversee and coordinate everything and prevent double bookings of the venues (as did happen at least once). I looked that whole year for a Director/Manager and no one would take it on, because it was a huge job for a healthy person, and so much harder for me, who was not healthy. There are a few old Forum threads about CC and the Protestors Group, some got locked due to the utterly pathetic threats and accusations, and personal attacks on the character of individuals who had done what I asked with the best of intentions . There was assuredly grounds for Land Cutter to file a RL defamation lawsuit (and I would have gladly testified as to everything I knew and witnessed) but, I guess Land Cutter was able to walk away with a loss to offset his income from other interests including his fall back of land cutting and devaluing Mainland because the approx 3 Regions on Corsica was NO big deal to him financially, nor to me. The impact it had on CC was fatal, as was the buying of previously Abandoned Land project which was the most important game changer for me and perhaps for Land Cutter and maybe more land cutters would notice a better way to make a few L$ than devaluing property if it worked… and a better income than plain old land cutting generated, but I guess we’ll never know now! As he wasn’t allowed a fair chance to try it at CC, because a few well intentioned but completely ignorant know-it-alls (really knowing nowhere near what was necessary to actually help CC) decided to have a DRAMA Festival and destroy a worthwhile project to help set an example of a Mainland Community which everyone was welcome to add to, own, rent, expand and reclaim more and more Abandoned Land… possibly making enough difference to drop Land Use Fees a little more. I wish you had paid attention to what was actually happening at CC and the Abandoned Land reclamation project instead of insistently claiming you knew/know everything that ever happened and ever could happen since Adam Astralopithicus aferensis got his first puppy and decided the evolution of a new idea was preposterous and therefore impossible no matter who got hurt and what got damaged in the campaign to name shame and defame Land Cutter like he wasn’t even a person, just a machine doing something you insisted needed to be stopped, exposed, named, shamed and defamed. It was NOT Land Cutter who destroyed CC, it was the campaign to label him negatively which you supported that destroyed CC. i note you still don’t seem to understand how an Abandoned Land reclamation project is a WIN-WIN-WIN for LL, Mainland Owners, Mainland Renters… and that’s a sad waste of all efforts to help it blossom and grow. You did scoop up some of the land… but you didn’t get that PRIME COASTAL 21,769 m2 and I sincerely hope the new owner of it keeps her promise to always keep it open for EVERYONE to enjoy.
  4. Yes. I hope you visit and enjoy how much the Builder and Group Owner has devoted to this wonderful project ♥♥ Here's a link to it from Destination Guide: https://secondlife.com/destination/the-glastonbelli-redwood-forest
  5. Paraphrasing Pauli... I my humble opinion most of the above is fundamentally "not even wrong"
  6. Do you know that same Land-Cutter was given about 1.75 Regions of that same land approximately a year prior and just sat with it for a couple of months before coming to me and stating "I just can't devote time to looking after this currently, so if you want I'll give it back". I took it back for L$0 and said Land Cutter kept a 1024 owned in his own name and continued to remain a member of the Community while gathering a Landscaper/Decorator/designer team to look at what we had going on, see how active the community remained. He brought the team to his 1024 and showed them all around the area, what was popular, what he considered less important and what rented, what had a high turnover, etc. I assume he decided he could do something like this and proceeded to create a Community on some contiguous Estates. Then, when I became ill again and announced I'd tried to find someone to take over again but no one was interested. I'm pretty sure I asked you, Prokofy, if you would like to take any and you stated you didn't. Then when I finally appealed to Land Cutter again, he said he would take it over again, as in that year he saw some areas which I had fully provided at my own expense could possibly generate some income, maybe pay for the tier. He asked me to keep as much as I wanted and he'd take over the rest and try to at least pay the tier and his staff to manage it and I did that, keeping the best protected coastal land for ourselves and intending to continue living there as I recuperated and offer myself as a consultant. He said if he couldn't make a profit with the parts I provided rent free and wanted to make changes I didn't want, I would take that land back and pay the tier and he could 'experiment' with the steep mountainside in parts of 3 Regions. I went offline to rest and recuperate, only coming online for brief periods and by request. The Land Cutter also accepted the assistance of some of the core active members to help him implement changes he had in mind. Then the proverbial offal hit the... and a couple of well intentioned friends/acquaintances jumped in with stones in hand, and shamed and labeled him to be a Land Cutter and decided to hold a protest and grief anything and everything they could. I assume they must have concluded I was a naïve idiot, who desperately dumped my land for tremendous or at least some monetary gain and disappeared, leaving everyone to clean up my mess. Did ANY of those accusers ask me "What are you thinking?!? Why sell to HIM??!!?!" Nope, not one. ALL the Protestors jumped all over him, named, shamed and made him very upset. He stopped talking to me. The Protestors continued to name and shame him to any who would listen. Some of the tenants who did not know him, but knew some of the Protestors and that they were pretty knowledgeable people and some even Friends of mine... so they panicked believing the sky was falling, removed tier they had donated, waited to get ejected for non payment of rent or just fled silently, as anything he did was deemed BAD. There was a lot of upset people including me, who happened to be online during a name & shame event in the Group chat. I said nothing in Group chat and had a private IM with her asking why she did that and she stated "Once a Land Cutter Always a Land Cutter." I explained I did know him and his reputation and that he was trying to turn over a new leaf and she said "A leopard can't change his spots. They may pretend to be something else but they will always be leopards and people need to be warned" I said I wanted her to apologize in Group chat. She didn't and was firm in her belief that he needed to be exposed. He wouldn't answer my IMs. He wouldn't respond to my offer to take back some of the tier. He was mad and wanted to do things his way with no help from me... and many people who used the free donated space left as the rent was introduced, and people Abandoned owned parcels within the community or tried to sell them cheap as possible and he offered all the land he was going to dump because he couldn't get new tenants to help pay tier... no one wanted it after that! Those core members took on as much tier as they possibly could to try and save the best parts. I offered tier to help them, but no one would take it from me. I gave (price L$0) my beautiful protected coastal 16,239 m2 away to a good friend who expressed an interest to buy some of that prime land from me on her promise that she would always keep it open to the public. a few months later the beautiful mountainside was Abandoned Land, I couldn't find a road from the Linden Protected Roadway to the coast and beach, most of the tenants from my period of ownership were gone... it reminded me of my RL dying small city, and what a waste of thousands of US $ in tier which was now empty and barren and back to being pure expense as Abandoned Land again. He may of been a Land Cutter but we did have a pretty good agreement and a promise that he would try his best, with my help, to make some kind of worthwhile venture for his donation of Tier... but he didn't get a chance to give it a try. He was labeled, named, shamed and he saw the value of the community drop like Wall Street before The Depression. A few months later, I asked a Friend if he'd make a nice Destination on a contiguous G rated Region if I donated tier, hoping a nice Destination would encourage some regrowth around it and he said yes. That beautiful Destination is still there, but really underused as I'm not able to take on too much which may be stressful, causing more illness or blindness. I was totally heartbroken at the failure of such effort to find someone to take over. I was stressed and struggling for months before giving the land to Land Cutter as my very last hope before Abandoning it myself. I nearly lost my eyesight permanently, stressed and to limping along doing a half-assed job of mending spats between neighbours, complaints from tenants and landowner/neighbours about imagined disasters, stalkers, home invaders, etc. So I guess the Protestors did a great job of: "Some of us knew this land cutter years ago and knew of his practices and publicizing them prevented more rip-offs." I hope the Protesters got what they wanted for my wasted investment of thousands of US $ in something I felt was the best thing I'd done. I certainly didn't and I surely imagine the Land Cutter will never try anything like this again.
  7. If Prokofy buys some Abandoned Land, Prokofy pays a pittance (L$1/m2) and concurrently pays LL tier monthly to cover the hosting... so that Prokofy will be paying for formerly abandoned land and paying tier to keep it online. Abandoned Land is pure expense for LL because they can't just shut it off if Prokofy decides to Abandon that land again.
  8. You made a typo. I stated "land fee income" not "land free income" as in LL creating Mainland Continents and selling parcels for a land fee to the highest bidder as a source of income. I don't know exactly when this happened as it was before my consistent time in SL (maybe 2010 with the creation of the 2010 Linden Homes when many Residents sold or Abandoned their Mainland to go live there or just gave up because the creation of Linden Homes and popularity of Estates may have devalued Mainland rapidly and Mainland Residents struggled to at least break even trying to rent or sell devalued Mainland parcels when Residents could have a free house by simply buying a Premium Membership. LL announced a couple of years ago (2019 or 2020, maybe?) they were/are changing their income stream from creating and selling Mainland (what I called land fee) as an income source to a fee-based income (increasing the MP commission to 10%, adding a fee for converting L$ to US $ account, charging a fee to us who Buy L$). Mainland Continent creation and its sale for profit seems to have ground to a halt with Zindra, Gaeta and maybe somewhere else halted... (still incomplete to this day) and ended when great swathes of Mainland's least desirable/valuable land (interior of continents with no protected infrastructure like Protected Roadways or Protected Coastal Waterways value) was Abandoned in favour of 2010 Linden Homes and the explosion of Estates, and Estate Rentals being cheaper and attractive for their covenants, security options, etc. So... LL ended up with hectares of empty Abandoned Mainland switching from an income stream with Residents of some variety paying tier fees to pay for its hosting on the Server to it becoming a larger and larger expense that had to be paid for out of LL's profits. When Estates aren't being paid for they just shut them off and stop hosting them but you can't switch off Mainland parcels that aren't being paid for by a landowner of some variety. Mainland is contiguous and contiguous is costly if no one want to buy it and pay tier. LL wasn't about to shut its doors or turn off Mainland just because tier income changed from Mainland Sales to Estate Sales. Mainland has just kept plugging away, maybe a little ignored, but no drastic action was immediately required and the loyal Mainland owners hung on for dear life because we Mainland Owners know the contiguous land is an actual world where you can see Residents drive by, gather at places of interest, fly overhead in aircraft and you can look at the Map and plan a route to go sightseeing for hours, its just like Earth. Estates are just 256x256 'islands', isolated from each other... you can't wave to someone driving by in a boat where the water is not actually there, just a fake void. Estates are like beautiful prisons to me, a lover of geography, maps and navigation. Second Life has the largest contiguous Mainland of any virtual world in the known universe... THAT is why I'm on Mainland. Many platforms have had some success selling or giving away estate-like spaces for some kind of fee, but Estate life can be very lonely and isolated as we discovered during the pandemic, knowing others are out there, in their isolated boxes wishing for the possibility of some sort of human contact, trapped and not free to move outside that 256 x 256 unless you rent or own lots more connected Estates. If you love being alone and changing decor often or building and creating in a lag-free 256 x 256 box then Estates are great and you are the master of your own universe and you can invite friends over at any time... but you can't jump in your car in your own driveway and just go for hours, looking at the changes in your neighbourhood, passing strangers who may be friends you haven't met yet unless you teleport from an estate and rez your car on Mainland to do so. ♥
  9. Worth 2 thousand words because its a gif (my new rule) ;-D
  10. Saturday and Sunday at 11 AM SLTime I'll pass you an Invitation inworld! They put on a great show at Sarabande!
  11. @Bagnu you look way hotter than Freddie (in porn-stache) hoovering… but Roger Taylor is soooo sexy it’s not fair to ordinary guys!
  12. @Island Granville that is gorgeous! Wow!! That certainly looks like a keeper parcel (that’s how I try to decorate parcels I may choose to part with in the future). That’s also how we’ve crept up to having 5 homes I don’t want to part with 🥰😂
  13. Now your outfit makes me wonder if you attended (or will attend the upcoming ) Rocky Horror Presentation at Sarabande Theatre? The shows start at 11 AM but go early to Rez and get good seats, if you’re not familiar with Sarabande Theatre 🎭 @Bagnu
  14. I’ve always filed a Support ticket with photos and a detailed explanation. Your explanation above is really good. Maybe you could include a link to your Post above (use Share in the 3 dots in top right corner of your Post and Copy Link). You’ll need a SLurl and name of Region when you file the ticket. Wait a few days and a Linden will respond to you with a reply to your Ticket 😎 Happy building! If @Wendi Linden happens to get your Ticket, you might get treated to a couple of very helpful and useful tips. Wendi taught me some very important lessons with appreciated patience and kindness which I utilize regularly. (Thank you so much, Wendi 🥰)
  15. Corsica South Coast (Artist Lizzy Swordthain Party) in Novatron [G] Region! Slow rez day yesterday!
  16. Oh wow, we are hacks! Finding back doors and work arounds to circumvent a clever marketing strategy...like Pinky & the Brain (I'm not even thinking about a silly P&TB meme!) 😉 Some days reading the Forum is like herding cats by using chickens In all fairness, there is NO Cagey Linden. I imagine this issue/complaint/suggestion about Land Use Fees will be addressed (or maybe is already being addressed) according to its priority in the BIG virtual world picture. The Lindens are professional, friendly, fun-loving and very hard working extraordinary people doing extraordinary things, every day ♥ I've never met a Linden who doesn't love their job. In the real world, that's more rare than finding an antimatter cache.
  17. I didn't notice it go off topic? (Grabs my Men In Black pen and flashes it in the eyes of the Mod who may shut down this thread for meandering)
  18. Yes, the way tier is charged and also the increments. If you have 0.75 Regions and want to purchase an additional 512 m2, you must pay for an additional 0.25 Region. If you have a different 512 of your land (out of the 0.75 Regions) for Sale and a 512 beside your home comes on the market which you would like to have , you must either Abandon your 512 for Sale and lose the profit... or pay an additional 0.25 Region at least until the original parcel for Sale is Sold or Abandoned. Also important is that if you do go up by a 0.25 Region in order to purchase the 512 and later the same day the original 512 is Sold... you pay the extra 0.25 Region until your tier date arrives. I believe OP wants to be allowed to pay for only the extra 512 until his tier date arrives instead of the whole extra 0.25 Region. OP could pay for a Plus (come with 512 free tier but no Linden house) Alt month to month until he no longer needs an extra 512 from the Alt's tier donation to the land Group. Qie points out there is probably a benefit to LL which we don't know. Perhaps like their accurate stats prove that this encourages more Land owners to acquire more land to use up the available tier in the extra 0.25 as opposed to my wish... that we could own 15,625 m2 and then buy an extra micro of 44 m2 and pay for exactly 15,669 for as long as I own that amount, billed monthly on my tier date.
  19. I think the more attached we are, the more real SL reveals itself to be. The more enjoyment we devote to SL the greater the returns and connecting to other people, sharing stories, advice, opinions is life at it's best We're right along with you, 100%
  20. @Qie Niangao I'm sure there is good reason for the current billing method and I have been forgiven for temporary step ups a few times when I went into the next tier bracket for a few minutes by accident, for which I'm very grateful. The current method did take a few of these 'accidental' overages until I better understood how and why to do things in a specific order. ♥
  21. I'd use the steep grey rock in a way similar to this: but with small alpines like juniper and cedar rather than succulent plants and set a house like this: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/House/23189497 for a very modern, minimal environment, spindly trees like the pines from Bad Katz and any bonsai twisted trees also would lend themselves to a rocky place, use sharp angled rocks with any trees tucked in to where a patch of soil might have caught long enough to let a tree survive and a path of black or bleached sharpish step stones or stairs: what do you think? I spotted an Abandoned Roadside parcel about 1024 (I think?) if you want to try and decorate to sell on that parcel, I will contribute tier for you to try it.
  22. Okay... challenge accepted we'll pop over and take a look!
  23. Bellisseria changed my Second Life in countless wonderful ways and I think it was the most brilliant major thing LL (and especially Patch and the LDPW) has ever done since I've been a Resident on this account (since June 2015). I do understand its not for everyone and I don't think it was ever intended to be something for everyone, just Starter style Homes for Premium Members, new and old. My partner and I Owned a 4096 on the South Coast of Corsica while watching the SSP Regions for daily progress and managed to get a Houseboat on April 15, 2019, the first day they opened. We've never left, but we did Abandon my original Houseboat when my Partner got a stunning Houseboat location in Carden, so I snagged a Camper 800 m South with a river nearly door to door between our places I don't think we'll ever leave them because we love the water, roads and especially the SLRR rails, we're not much into air travel except by hot air balloon. We LOVE the communities which formed, the amazing Community Centres and most of all the parties! ♥♪
  24. Thank you so much for answering! I think you should be able to be very successful and have a great time earning a little extra L$! My answers are: 1. I stage almost every parcel whether its to flip for a quick profit or something I actually used and eventually decide to sell. I leave the box ticked "Objects included in Sale" ticked so everything doesn't auto-return in case the buyer likes the build or wants to use the items as is for a while. Most times items are returned gradually, so I guess they return things as they find something they like better. With a few 512s we purchased them at L$3.2 - L$3.5 per m2, then set out a rezzer build I made and resold them for L$5000 which is L$9.76 per m2... to the same SL Land Sale Group we often purchase from... and they have also kept my same old rezzed 512 build to re-sell the property! 2. I always use Land Group for all purchases and sales as the Group pays the Owners the next day and I take total advantage of the 10% discount. 3. I'm currently at 1.25 Regions (I just checked to make sure It wasn't 1.5 Regions) so I do have all Group holdings at the lowest cost per m2 I'm comfortable with. 4. I currently don't rent any either. I have in the past and we enjoyed 80% - 95% Occupancy, which covered the tier cost of the land, but didn't earn a profit as that wasn't important to me. It was a coastal art community with free galleries for artists. It was huge and way too much work and stress for me to manage by myself so I did have some wonderful help from my dear Friends and Partner with things such as tenant complaints, grumpy (but extremely talented and fast) Landscaper and Builder who was very difficult at times, doing things like revoking my Partner's Edit rights on the objects she placed on our land, sending rude notecards insulting people who bought parcels of the land and didn't set the Land Options correctly so the community-used things like an ariel cable car system would have its cars get stuck at the border because the new owner didn't know her setting would affect them... and they left, Abandoned the Land and wouldn't come back... or learn how the land settings should be set ;-/ and so many more issues... finally ending with bad feelings on both sides. ;-( I now have some Void Estate Regions connected to Mainland 'on hold' I guess as I have no landscaper and no partners who are interested in Estate Management. I gave the entire Group and all its holdings to a land-cutter who promised to try and keep it going as it was, but ended up having the deal sabotaged by some of my 'friends/acquaintances' who thought they were doing the right thing by humiliating the new Owner... so he cut, dumped and sold everything he could to any interested current tenants or interested parties and disappeared. It broke my heart and I've not been able to go back there very often because it stirs up difficult memories of such a wonderful place becoming tarnished with anger and accusations, even though some of my very dear friends have kept the most beautiful parts of the Community intact and very active ♥ 5. We used MP, Forum, a website, social media, blogs and word of mouth of all the people who lived there, enjoyed it and wanted to tell others ♥♥ If you'd like any advice, I would recommend beautiful staging, always using a Land Group, have Group show in Search but keep it private (not anyone can join) if you ever use it for Rentals. You can set for Sale or Rent and if rented, cancel the sale until the tenant leaves. Wishing you the very best success and perhaps think about looking for a Business Partner to combine some tier with yours so you can get up to a full Region and the best price per m2. Happy Selling!
