  1. Same here... UK. Typical. SL was running like a bag of spanners all yesterday and now I can't even get in. Oh well, I wonder what's going on in RL... better go and look.
  2. Yeah, looks like we're not alone in this. I was eventually told by support (after jumping through a few hoops that I had already jumped through) to file a bug report, which I did. It's been linked to at least one other similar report. At least the ANS is still working. I would not be impressed if sales were not reaching my database.
  3. Thank you very much - that works really well. I wasn't expecting a single face for top and sides but it works like that, more easily. I don't have to line the textures up. I should have been a bit clearer though and said "four beveled edges between the top, sides and bottom". Please could you do another with the bottom of the hedge beveled too? It looks better like that, sat a touch above the ground rather than flat onto the ground. The flat ends are perfect, just what I wanted. Let me know what I can send you from my store, if you want something other than a load of troublesome rats that is.
  4. I have always received email notifications of sales from my MP store. These have stopped, with the last one being just before midnight GMT on 5th November. Has this happened to anyone else? There were sales on the 6th, and plenty more since which are in my orders history. Fortunately the ANS is still updating my database. Just no emails. I have not changed anything, anywhere, and I still get all the other emails from SL. ETA: Not getting emails when I buy something either. All my account settings are correct and the notification boxes ticked. Nothing is going to the spam trap. Time for a ticket methinks.
  5. I want a simple bit of mesh for making a hedge. Basically a wall, but with four beveled edges between the top, sides and bottom of the wall, but not beveled at the ends. So, two opposite faces of the 'cube' without bevels. That way, when I stretch it out to fit, I don't get a stretched out bevel at the wall ends. I can do flat walls myself but I prefer to spend my time scripting that figuring out blender. I'm trying not to spend money, but I'll trade for a fatpack of my free-roaming Horny Rats (or anything you want from my store): https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Horny-Rats-Plague-of-Rats-FatRatPack/7152708 The 'cube' should have six faces, which are easily texture-aligned from one side to the other. I only need copy/mod perms. Can it be done in 0.5 LI (like the all-beveled one I have) so I can link them and save a few? My hedge texture works perfectly at one repeat per metre if that makes any difference. ETA: Also, it should not vanish when I'm at the other end of my garden (156m away). I have a picture of a mesh cube that's beveled all around to show the sort of thing I'm after (minus the end bevelling), and what I want to avoid in the second picture. Any help, please? :)
  6. ...steps back in amazement... I missed the point - I thought people were asking for it. Never saw that blog post. Wow! I'm going to try it now...
  7. That's exactly what I do when sailing. I even sell an automated script to do the job at the click of a button.

This would be a good move from LL, although I have a feeling it won't happen any time soon if ever. Certainly it would be something worth offering, instead of that farcical increase in offline message space. Seriously LL, whoever thought of and authorised that should hang their heads in shame. Give us something useful please.
  9. Cue music... "I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want..." Then again, no I won't. But I will tell you: it certainly isn't the Spice Girls. On that matter, I am fully satisfied.

A friend of mine tried sL for about 20 minutes but of COURSE the first thing that happened was some creepazoid following her around trying to "do teh sects". Anyway so here are a couple what-if's... ...and some maybes. I can only really answer for myself of course. For the residents who are at the height of their SL addiction (16 or more hours a day in some cases), what if they lost their web connection or the power was off for a few hours? How would they survive? I work (hah, that's a laugh) from home, so I tend to be here a lot. I'm not addicted, I can stop any time I want. Web down? Yeah - been there a few times. My desk still has the bite marks in it. Seriously, I managed before SL, and I will after it. After all, there's UT, UT2004, UT2, The Witcher 1, 2 and now 3, oh, and there are some lively hills opposite my house that I sometimes spend more time climbing than I do at home. What if max prim allowance didn't exist on any rented land in SL? Like it just wasn't a factor? Would some residents have completely cluttered SL homes like their RL homes probably are? Mine's not rented, but the same principle applies. Not cluttered, but there would certainly be more furniture and 'little' things, like light switches on the walls, tea spoons with the cups ands saucers, that sort of thing. I would hate living next to others even more though; they make enough mess as it is. Better leave things as they are. What if there was some sort of block on new residents (maybe 30 days?) from doing adult activity? Would the "do teh sects" creepazoid population still loiter the noob spots in search of some new person all the time? I guess they would. As in real life, they probably talk about *it* a lot more than they actually do it, and they could still talk about it. A big one - suppose SL followed the same rule as that "social media" site that is getting tired. Like say your avatar had to look as bad as the RL operator sometimes does with weight problems and all and have the same name. Would SL'ers then try to use SL to pretend their RL is better than what it really is? I know people on social media never do that HAHAHA sorry I cannot say that with a straight face... "Oh yes this 50 room mansion is modeled after my real home!" Mansion... you mean this little old place? Well, I did model it after my estate... Hmm, if I had unlimited prims, I could have more yachts...
  11. Well, I also have a smaller IPv6 /64 block (that's a 'standard' allocation of only 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 addresses for those not versed in IPv6 notation) for backup, so there are splenty to go around. Yep, I collect them too.
  12. I have a /29 routed subnet here, so I would be stuck if I needed to change my IP more than six times. Don't want the hassle of having to memorise a new range after all these years. However... If we ever go IPv6 though, good luck trying to IP ban the 1,208,925,819,614,629,174,706,176 IPv6 addresses I have registered. Not that I plan on being that bad...
  13. Hi Qie, Yes, I get what you're saying. Turned out it was actually me, not the sim (sorry LL, :laughs:) Weirdest thing I've seen though... I had done a windows update and updated my nVidia driver earlier in the day, something I do on a two-week schedule, and completely forgotten about that. Something in that broke SL completely, on both Firestorm and official. I could log in, but got a strange SL error message like "could not save DEFAULT OBJECT SETTINGS...". Then my sim loaded fine and everything in it seemed OK, but I could not see anything beyond my sim. Trying to cross the border either made me shoot off into the distance until my browser logged out, or I just bounced off the border like it was the world's edge. The official viewer most often just immediately died when I tried to cross. TP'ing had odd results too, where I would end up at <0,0,0> in my own sim again, or just crash after waiting. I would have thought that crossing a border was a server-side thing, and since it happened in both viewers I thought it must be server related. Eventually though I remembered my earlier updates, and did a rollback. All fine again. Now I'm afraid of doing an update...
  14. Coby Foden wrote: However, sailing in SL is quite fun. One can see lots of good looking interesting places by exploring the SL waterways with slowly moving sailboat. That's what I'm enjoying. It's calming, just idling along, keeping a little eye on the wind, watching the sights go by and every now and then mooring up and finding someone to chat to. I think my yacht is one of the best things I've bought in SL. I might have to try racing sometime, but for now I'm more than happy just exploring.
  15. The mainland sim where I have my parcel has just gone haywire, and I had a live chat session to try and get it restarted. That was refused on the grounds that "there are too many people in the sim to restart it." That's a new one on me. It's been restarted on many occasions with a lot of 'people' in it - in fact all of the people apart from me were bots. Eight of them, seven in one parcel where someone has their 'playground' and another one belonging to the owner of the rental company that owns most of the sim apart from my bit. How so I know they are bots? Well, the lone one says so in the profile. The other seven are there 24-hours a day from one sim restart to the when they all suddenly appear after the next and they almost never move, just being locked into one pose ball or another. So, how then do we do a sim restart when it's needed if it's full of bots? After pressing the matter, I was eventually told that "the number of people has dropped so we can restart it now". Odd, the same number of dots were still on the map, but... at least I got it restarted. This time.

  17. I'm curious about wanting 'realism' in SL... (and I'm not trying to belittle it or anything, honestly) Personally I see very little realism in SL flight, to the extent that I'm quite happy with just some easy basics like the S&W offers. With the glitches of sim crossings, lag, invisible hazards, sim pings of 200+ms at times, lack of the multiple analogue control inputs that are required for realistic control and so on, do you still find the resultant flight model realistic enough to be worth putting up with all of that? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for realistic flying; I used to be an avid flight-sim buff, spending silly money on controls and pedals, even making my own when the commercial offerings weren't good enough (or more often, I couldn't afford them). I've flown a litte 'for real' too, although never got as far as licensing (wish I had when I had the chance, but such is life.) I just can't (yet?) see the point of putting up with what I see as a lot of hassle and very poor and erratically-responsive control inputs for such low rewards in terms of realism. For me, I might has well have that 'car in the air', almost. That said, I am enjoying my yacht, playing about with the winds. Even there I'm frustrated by the poor responsiveness to me pressing a button and often having to wait a second or two before anything happens, by which time things have changed. Maybe I just need to try some more flying demos, for more than ten minutes...
  18. The most I've spent is L$35,010 a few months ago to buy my land at auction. I don't regret it. The next highest I think is L$5000 on a fatpack of suits from a vendor that I usually really like. That one I regret because despite trying the demo for a while and thinking I liked it, as soon as I bought it and started wearing it 'for real' I noticed a couple of issues that put me off it. That's the only one I regret though I think, discounting a few purchases early on in my SL career made beofre I understood how things worked. I certainly don't regert the L$4500 I spent on a yacht a month ago.
  19. "A sane person to an insane society must appear insane." Kurt Vonnegut I don't think that is applicable in your case though Zoe.

  24. Thanks, I'll give that a try and see if I get further than I have with warp. That won't be hard though. The UV map of the arm is 1024x1024 and I'm working at 4x that each way, with the tattoo about a quarter of that height, to try and keep resolution until the end. The other way I had thought of was to somehow place a (removeable) grid onto my image and align that with the UV using the Puppet Warp. I'll hold that thought in reserve for now.
