derendering/ blacklisting person question
sandi Mexicola replied to creesl's topic in General Second Life Tech Discussion
IMO, blocking is backwards... should be that blocking a person makes it so they can't see or hear you, not the other way around. -
thank u for posting the solution!

I've been using FRAPs for, like, forever. One thing I like about it is that you can set it to capture uncompressed frames. I have an old graphics card, but when I am lucky, I can capture 30 uncompressed frames a second. Each frame is also a possible Flickr SL photo candidate. (Hopefully, I will upgrade my GPU soon.) I have not tried OBS. NVIDIA tools and Windows game bar hardly put any load on your system. However, (in my experience) they compress as they record. I try to avoid compression wherever possible, because: If you compress when u record, and aren't careful and edit the footage, most video editing programs, by default, in my experience, output a compressed version of what you are editing. That's two compressions. Then, either while uploading to, and/or watching from YouTube, your video gets compressed a 3rd and/or 4th time. This is not bad if not much is changing on the screen in your videos. For me, I like to record particles (and other videos where the scene might change a lot), and when the image on the screen is changing rapidly, you want to avoid compression as much as possible. So I try to record and edit and output-from-edit all uncompressed. YouTube compresses enough. Of course, someone here might have better solutions, so I am all ears! 👂

That is, if/when LL fixes login issues. -
The Green Flashing VOICE icon above your head

Well, you want to avoid it spiking red. And yes, there is a place on SL called Echo Canyon (I think, but I'll check) where u can hear your voice as others would. -
@panterapolnocy Thanks. I checked this out on the web. I decided to download it and take a closer look.

😁 If u mean because yours is really long, then u need to enter it even more times! 😁

Video be where I headed, most likely. (And maybe a little 3D on the side.) -

I was considering moving from 4GB to 8GB, but now I'm not so sure. -

Well, that's one reason why I use HWiNFO to monitor things... so I know where in my system things are maxing out. Also GPU-Z can be helpful if you want to focus on just your GPU(s). All I really want is to be able to run around on SL all day on ULTRA graphics settings... is that too much to ask? 😋 -

I use HWiNFO, and it starts yelling at me once I've used up about 90% of VRAM. Also, much slower framerates than I would like. -

so... I wonder why u run out of VRAM when I have 4GB of it? maybe my question is off-topic and requires a new thread? -

Just curious, how much VRAM that thing have? I have 4GB, and I keep running out in SL. -
Agreed. Last thing u want is for this person to know they are bugging you.
