Probably I would suggest reducing your draw distance when you are in laggy places. Ground-level in some places is sometimes crowded with tons of objects.

just a quick follow-on issue: I have a megasphere. It is so large that I can be standing inside of it, and it is too far away to hear my chat commands. What it comes down to is that I need to be within 20m of the center of it.
