  1. Northfarthing region has been down and/or not accessible since 21:38 SLT on Jan 6, Monday night. Ticket was filed when sim crashed Monday night, and nothing was done, or done correctly. The Big Map showed another region from the mainland (Northfarthing is a private island sim) as replacing it. But there was no region there and no access, just fake water, as observed from the adjacent region south of it. Then Tuesday mid day the correct private full region was returned and restarted, but the region was closed to any residents, including the owner -The "unable to grant capabilities" message when trying to enter. Live chat told the region owner nothing could be done before the restarts were over at 3pm slt. But support ends at 3pm, so any action on further tickets was ignored. This region houses several main stores for longtime clients, some smaller shops, many rental apts, a Blues club open 24/7 with 12 hrs/day of events, and several role play platforms from medieval to space. 32 hours with no access, and counting...

You might want to try this, copied from Patch Linden's Topic: "Additionally, we have implemented the ability for parcel owners to reset their house controller scripts (the mailbox or life ring for rezzing a different house) should a Resident encounter an issue generating the house selection menu. If you do not receive a house selection menu when you click your House Controller, simply click on and hold the Controller for at least two seconds to reset the scripts. This should correct for most issues of this nature. If the problem persists after attempting this, please contact support."

I was flying over the new houseboats tonight and triggered this one: 'Alyssa_Security_Orb' --Warning-- You have entered a private parcel, please leave now or you will be removed in 2 seconds. Good thing I was in my jet cruising at 30m/sec - just made it through before losing it. I sent her a polite IM with Covenant security orb rules.

  5. Well at least community.secondlife is still up - so don't have to do something useful in RL yet I was logged out with about 6 mins left in my set tonight - but kept streaming just in case. Looks like we all got hit w/ the planned network maintenance.

  7. Assuming you have turned on Sit/Lay and Walk/Run in the Animation menu, your cat should start to move within 20 mins or less. If you think something is wrong with your free Firestorm cat, just file a support ticket with the cat's ID#, and they will send you a fixed copy to replace it. Callie Cline is the owner and designer for KC, but not a customer support person. She was in an auto accident a few months ago and on her doctor's orders, must remain in bed while she recovers from her injuries. She can only sit at her computer a short time until she heals. This has nothing to do with your possible broken kittycat script. KC is alive and well. There is an active 24/7 discussion group with CSR's usually online. In your case, they would tell you to file a ticket as everyone else does if sending the cat to the cattery and back does not work. "The Christmas decorations are still out." Did you really check the sim? Spring flowers and butterflies everywhere outside, with green grass and spring blooming trees, chirping birds and rabbits. And a few Easter eggs still around. Large Kittycat Easter eggs inside the building too, but Easter Sunday was just 4 days ago. The small pile of snow with a Christmas bulbs outside the front entrance might just indicate the owner of the snow decorations, who is also the CSR manager, is busy handling customer issues. If you file a ticket to Kitten, I bet she will remove the snow piles for you.

  9. It sound like you took the box contents to inventory which will break the kittybox. You must file a support ticket and Kittycats support will replace it for you. You can register at their website https://kittycats.ws and file a support ticket under the Support tab. You could also go their Main shop inworld, and ask a CSR to help you. The way you get the kitty out of the box is to left click on it after rezzing, get the Kittycats menu, and then click on the Unpack button and wait 10 minutes for your tiny kitten to appear. If you did this and your cat is in pieces inworld after you Unpack, still file a ticket. It's possible the seller repacked the cat and forgot a script.

  11. Welcome to the world of private sims run my land management companies that care, unlike the LL mainland ghetto. I never shout, and have more trouble with Firestorm putting me in whisper mode - the slow left thumb problem (a comment only you will appreciate.) Unless you are into sailing and want direct LL sea access, why does anyone live on the Mainland? LL are nothing but slum landords, allowing the grossest collection of crap to be erected anywhere, at any elevation, with no themes, ban lines everywhere, and some amaziingly terrible performance sims - again caused by LL's lack of enforcement of the most basic rules.
  12. Yes you killed it, but it's not dead - just lost it's pixels. You need to send a support ticket to KittyCats and include the cat ID#, and you will get your whole kitty box returned to you within 24 hours, usually much less. http://kittycats.biz/index.htm That is the web page - you need to make an account. Then you can hit the Pedigree tab and see your kittenbox that you still own. Copy the ID# from that, and hit Support button - and send a support ticket with the ID# and title it "Lost Cat", or "I Killed My Kitten." All they need is the ID# to get your cat back. This happens to first time owners all the time. ONce you get the box back, rezz it on land, left click to get the Menu, and click UnPack and wait 15 mins for your new kitten. Then read the Manual on the KittyCats site, which answers most of your questions.

Or to offer any suitable alternatives. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I doubt many (any) SL clubs/users use your workaround - if they are they are simply flying below the radar. From the owners: "You're attempting to use methods to stream your station only available to those with a Premium account, which is why the stream is shutting off. Free accounts cannot use embedded players on their web page or other audio players such as Winamp, iTunes and Quicktime. Please only use your Listen 2 My Radio Player page for your listeners to stream your station. Failure to do so will result in your account being terminated." SL music streaming would be included in those "other audio players". I assume you can stream at 128 kbps and 44,100 Hz Stereo using SAM with your free account, the usual settings for SL music, although the free account does not include unlimited streaming or bandwidth, unlike their expensive premium accounts. You can rent a shoutcast stream in SL for under 500 $L/ month for 25 users and BW up to 320 kbps. That is more than any new club might have as listeners to their radio stream, when there is no DJ present. DJ's always use their own streams at clubs, which they pay for. 500 $L is $2 usd/month, or 25 cents /week to use a legitimate stream - I don't understand the reason to cheat, for 25 cents per week.
  14. Linden Labs has fixed the "Drop bug" and KittyCats has announced it is now safe to Cuddle/Hold/Lay and Walk with your cats again, and use the Drop button to detach them. No information from LL as to just what was causing the new bug (no surprise there). Announced today Jan 4, at 2:32 pm slt in the KittyCatS forum by the owner. Shamu
  15. Tari, I do not see your name mentioned in my post as claiming it was not a problem. I have seen other posts that venture in-world, find a sandbox, rezz and take a few items without any asset server error, and from that vast experiment, come back here and report it is not a problem because it didnt happen to them. And there are those who once had breedables, but now don't, but think their experience of 2-3 years ago is relevant to today's problem. Maybe it is, but the folks who see this problem today are in-world today, and it is an order of magnitude greater problem now. I quoted you about Items detached and disappearing from inventory. That is not the present bug. In this case the items never make it to inventory when first attached to an avatar. You dont have to detach to lose a cat - it is already lost if the Drop button is greyed out, because it is not in inventory, even though the cat is attached to an avatar. And the frequency has not gradually increased either. Drop was a reliable workaround for 2 years. Then it suddenly exploded into a major issue last December. There is a new bug that started causing server asset errors rather suddenly. There have always been Drop bugs related to land permissions - not this issue.
  16. According to KittyCatS, it is affecting other breedables. But Kittycats is now the most popular of the breedables, and the cats have the most attachment interactions of any breedable. Besides the Cuddle/Hold/Lay/Walk interactions, you can ride (like a horse) the MegaPuss, fly around on a broom with the Halloween cats, and go sledding with the Holiday cats. So its no surprise they are now getting most of the problems. This is from the KC announcement in their forum, from the KC owners: **IMPORTANT** Drop Bug Information Hi all. About a month ago it seems there was a new bug introduced in SL. In regards to KittyCatS, this bug appears to be affecting the ability to Drop your cats after interacting with them via the menu, as well as possibly affecting cats that vanish randomly without reason while rezzed on land in SL. Other breedables have been affected by this bug as well. Linden Labs appears to be aware of this bug, however they cannot address it until after the holidays. Unfortunately this bug has caused many problems for our customers that like to Interact with their cats for fun and breeding purposes. To help minimize the loss of cats caused by this bug, we recommend that customers disable the cat's ability to walk and run, and not use the Cuddle/Hold/Lay/Walk interactions with their cats until further notice. We realize that the walking animation and interactions are a large part of the appeal of KittyCatS for many, and we truly apologize for the inconvenience that this latest bug has caused in regards to your ability to enjoy your cats. Please be assured that we are working hard to try and find a solution to this problem, and that we will be in contact with Linden Labs to determine what has caused this issue and how it can be fixed.

The bug today is when an attached item NEVER appears in inventory when it is attached. If the item does not show in inventory then Drop is greyed out - since there is nothing to rezz back to land from inventory. Of course if you try to Detach the kittycat, it will vanish most of the time - that has always been the case. There are specific warnings never to use Detach for the kittycats. If you log out while the item is still attached, it will be gone when you log in. Either way, if Attaching using one of the menu driven commands does not show in inventory, you will lose the breedable. You must use Drop for the kittycat to rezz back to land. You must also be wearing the land tag for the land or Drop can lose it - but that is another issue entirely, NOT related to this present SL bug. This is ths same problem that all objects are now having when trying to return them to inventory - an error message appears saying the asset server did not respond in time, and the rezzed item remains rezzed. In this case, you just keep trying to Take the object back to inventory. This asset server problem has severely increased in the last month. With breedables that use a menu to attach to avatars, the result is no breedable in inventory, and hence Drop is greyed out. This has nothing to do with increased popularity of breedables meaning more reports. I have been using the Drop command for 2 years every day, sometimes 100 times/day. I have never lost a kittycat up to about mid November, because Drop was greyed out AND the cat was NOT in inventory. Now, if I try to attach, the cat will not move to inventory about 1 in 5 times. It still attaches, but does not exist according to SL, since it is not in inventory and attached. In other words, from no problems using drop many times/day for 2 years, to a problem every 5 cats. That is a huge change - and why Kittycats is now saying do not use any command that will attach to your avatar until SL fixes this new problem. And, people that don't rezz and take objects by the hundreds every day as part of their business may not notice the problem - that doesnt mean it does not exist or is some old infrequesnt bug, as some have suggested. Tarina, KC fully understands that you enjoy enteracting with your kitties - why would you think otherwise? It is not their fault that the SL asset servers are have gone south, creating 100 times more inventory errors than before November of this year. And never listen to someone's opinion in a group, that does not represent the company. Anyone can post there, and they are often wrong, usually newbies who somehow think they know it all. When you are done cuddling, DETACH the cat. DO NOT DROP. This is very important!!! If you attach the cat from inventory like a regular prim object, then you MUST Detach it. Only use Drop if you cuddled/held the cat via its Interaction menu. This should be a viable workaround for the Dropping issue. Your cats may look a little funny attached to your avatar this way and you may get animation script errors, however the cats will still get the Happiness/Love buff, and you should not lose them when detaching. If you do end up losing your cats due to Dropping/Detaching, please go to our support website at http://kittycats.biz/support and file a ticket. If you are not registered on our website, you can do so by clicking the "Online Help" button on your cats' menu, or by using the web terminal in our main store lobby, located to the immediate right as you enter.   19. "To bring this back on topic: There seems to be a major issue with the asset servers which has been going on for a number of weeks. It seems to affect breedables mainly. For example it is possible to pick them up but when you need to drop them - the drop is greyed out using detach results in the loss of the item. As the items are no copy this is a real issue." As a breeder and seller of breedables, that is what worries me. It has been going on for over a month, which means it is not just a case of the LL employees on a holiday vacation. The asset servers seem to be slow, not responding before the time-out - so what has changed? Many so-called new features - which dont seem to be reducing the load on the servers as was advertised. LL says they hope to fix the asset problem after New Years - I hope their bean counters realize the top revenue producing sims on the grid belong to a few breedable companies.

  21. I think they are using an incompatible winmm.dll for us WinXP users. I have to rename or delete the winmm.dll file in the SL2 folder every time I install the weekly upgrade. I am running WinXP SP4 32 bit latest updates. If SL is not going to fix this problem, then the solution, rename the winmm.dll file as XXwinmm.dll or delete it entirely, should be in a permanent FAQ. I'm surprised more have not complained. Maybe few members use the latest SL2 viewer, or no longer use WinXP. WinXP is fully supported by Microsoft until about 2014, so it's hardly an obsolete operating system, and is listed as one of the operating systems for SL2.
