I generally dislike the square Houseboat parcels but that one is lovely.

Here's my main room (I'm using the single storey Havana). Kitchen (I covered up the side window with a solid wall); Bedroom (not yet finished): Bathroom, which I couldn't fit in the main cottage so I built a basement room for it)

Yes, it happens a lot. Click and hold the house controller for at least 4 seconds, then let go. If you held it long enough it will say "resetting scripts" in local chat. WAIT A FULL MINUTE before touching it, then click again. All the proper buttons should now be present. Also, any time you do anything with the controller, again wait a full minute before doing another thing. Don't try to cycle through the house types one after another or else the house and the buttons will all disappear again.

I think that might be the case. I went for an OL house right in the middle of yesterday's release, and I caught an abandon in Clamdigger, which was one of the test regions released on Monday.

If the blue-box notices are no longer possible, the next best thing would be a warning on every log-in page and every teleport page. And ask the Firestorm team to do the same on theirs. "If you own a Linden Home, do not abandon it until after the holidays". The vast majority of people use either Firestorm or the official viewer. Or maybe the Lab could temporarily disable the Abandon Land button on Linden Home parcels?

Its a common problem being caused by too many people abandoning houses, getting new ones and using their controllers all at once. You can re-set it yourself. Click and hold the controller for at least 4 seconds, then let go. It will say "Resetting scripts" in local chat. Wait for one full minute, then click again and all the usual buttons should be there. You may have to try more than once, if you didn't wait long enough. If that doesn't work, live chat, if you can catch them before they finish for the holiday.

Thanks. I usually do put the bathroom right in the bedroom, but the bedroom in the Havana is so tiny, it wouldn't fit. And I couldn't split off part of the main room because of the doors at both ends. So, outhouse it is. At least it will never be cold or rainy!

Soooo.... changed my mind and grabbed one... got a house on land in Clamdigger so it must have been an abandon. Nice little plot, though it's rather hemmed in and though part of my parcel is water (just one tiny corner) it's not quite enough space to get a boat in and out without going through my neighbour's parcel, which is a shame. But there's a boat rez zone very close by. Probably not a long-term keeper, but as per instructions I'll hang on to it, probably at least until the main release is all finished.

The charges will stop after one full month's billing period of having no land. For example if your billing period runs from the 10th of each month, and you abandon your land on 15th December, you'll still be charged for it on 10th January, because you owned land for at least part of the previous month. But that will be the last one.

I get a more middle-upper class vibe from the Vics than the Trads. I think the Trads can spread the whole range depending on how you decorate them, but the Vics just look "posh" no matter what you try to do. I'd like to do a full Steampunk theme with a Vic at some point. I think that would look awesome. And I can see where the goth idea comes from too. Since Steampunk is basically what you get when goths discover brown. There's one Trad (Adams) that looks very English to me, it wouldn't be unusual to see a house looking exactly like that in a modern English housing estate. (Amusingly, there's a major housing company in England called Linden Homes). The vibe I get from the houseboats is either ultra-modern or boho. I tend towards modern minimalist with mine. Trailers, more shabby-chic, and lower class than the boats. I saw a trailer once that was decorated like real trailer-trash style with cheap furniture, packing crates, junk in the yard... I'm sure the neighbours weren't happy but it looked brilliant. Logs, definitely the country farmhouse with a rustic, arts-and-crafts style. They remind me a lot of "Cottage country" in Canada. Stilts, I'm thinking these will be more lower-class, shabby-chic again. Their style is a blend of Trailer and Trad. I'm not sure what "Margaritaville" implies, but they make me think of the shotgun-shack neighbourhoods around the Gulf coast. Chalets - hard to tell from just the one demo area but I'm leaning towards the same rustic feel as the Logs, more European (German/Swiss/Dutch) than Canadian/American. If there's an option for the exterior beams to be black instead of brown, they'll also do English Tudor well too. I think they also have potential for a medieval fantasy style.

Red means that you have an eye alpha on. You don't need system alphas with BOM. Take it off and they'll revert to the proper colour.

Discovered a tip for disappearing houses (the houseboat I snagged, well it was actually an empty parcel when I arrived). If you click and hold the house controller for 4 seconds, then let go, it resets the scripts. Wait a while, I've heard 30 secs, or 1 minute -then click it again and you should then see all your house options. If the only button there is "OK" - DO NOT CLICK IT - click Ignore then try the reset again.

I've had a wander round the regions and I haven't changed my mind... still don't like them. I will try to grab one eventually, just for the creators pack, but I'd still rather have a houseboat or a log cabin. I did manage to snag a houseboat during the rush but the location is a bit naff and it's yet another square parcel, which I hate. I'll try again for another one once the big release happens, or else I'll go back to the Logs.

They are all sand I think. There's a bit of grass showing on the bigger islands but it's gonna be "sandy grass" and not much of it.
