  1. General message to ALL, not Pamela Some people if gifted a million dollars with no strings and no taxes due would still complain. Just saying this gets BORING! Going back to work.
  2. The problem is that there are already tons of lovely recreational (not commercial) sims. This is a GOOD thing. But even many of the folks that have their own sims and do sell things are actually paying for sims in part from real life income. I agree. Just enjoy yourself -- and you can do that with a much smaller piece of land than a full sim. So less expense. If you want lots of wide open spaces for almost no money, then maybe Opensim is what you need (not being facious here - OS works well for plenty of folks).
  3. If you are using Firestorm you can change the LOD settings easily within the Quick Preferences Panel. If you are using the Linden viewer then I believe the LOD default is 1.25 ish which IS pretty low. If your LOD is 2 or better you should be able to see most things at a good distance IF THEY WERE MADE CORRECTLY (we are taling mesh here). Here is what you are looking for in the debug settings. Note that they higher you set your LOD viewing the harder it is on your system, so test a bit. If you can't see your clothes and such at 2 then maybe some new clothes and hair are in order . I have seen some hair break apart at 2, but not any clothes. That isn't saying it can't happen.
  4. Rey323 Restless wrote: many of us choose private so that way we are able to do things such as terraform, parcel, our own restarts and not have the lag off of other sims. Exactly. Private lands will still have those abilities -- the ones that you opted into. Even if islands do not get the prim boost (I am personally doubting that as Inara's post that came down thanked two Lindens ), it was a choice. I have pretty much opted for mainland except for a few times in Winterfell. It has its issues although lag doesn't seem to be one of them these days. Most of them can be worked around -- although I do get the blue ball bit. I have lands abutting those in two places . Thank goodness for Trompe Loeil's old but still gorgeous sky bubbles LOL. So we still have choices no matter what happens. And so far as the OP, I would hope that rental prices don't go up. I am not willing to pay much more for my land than I am paying now and would likely move to smaller quarters. I can move those 3000 prims in a day as I always keep backups, but it is NOT fun . So would just as soon stay where I am. Since everyone is getting more prims I can't see how raising rent will help landlords. Likely folks would just buy. I am renting because it has been cheaper than buying mainland and paying tier.
  5. Well reread Chin's post a bit above. That could of course be an error but it does leave me wondering a bit. . My land are all at plus 50% now. All mainland.
  6. LOL. Well I WOULD but the article has been pulled. https://modemworld.me/2016/11/02/publishing-error/ Since this is a very reputable author very connected to The Lab, I think we can consider it correct though. My lots on mainland have all been given there bonus. So we know what's happening there. I didn't take a screenshot of the article but it did reference and thank Lindens , so it seems like it was slated for tomorrow and got published ahead of schedule (I have done that - not difficult) . But just reading Chin Rey's comments she may have had misinformation - or - the plan may have changed midstream. I went to the sims with double prims but they are all cut up in odd sizes so it is pretty impossible (if you didn't live there and know what you SHOULD have) to verify LOL. We can wait and see. At one point a Linden did "seem to confirm" the double prim thing. However, I have found that historically what has been planned and the final result are not always the same.
  7. Just adding to this thread that it is official now. Mainland 1.5 prims (22,500 per sim) Private islands 1.33 (20,000 per sim) Homesteads 1.33 (5000 per sim) Linden Homes 1.5 175 prims + home
  8. Asking in the land forums might be your best avenue. There are still plenty out there and many of the land owners read the land forums .
  9. Obviously not really replying to Caleb here . My other two mainland (group) lots are inaccessible at the moment and trying to teleport there logs me out. But that's my store as of this noonish. So looks like 1.5ish doing the math in my head. I think this will definitely help H and G folks (woot) AND I have always been a mainland gal *wink* so works for me in many ways. I have been saying more prims for mainland for years now -- it just seemed like such a logical move. So happy to see it has happened.
  10. A quick click tells me that the sim in now the MEVA store
  11. I haven't reset my password for myself of my alt in for-e-ver so resetting is not a requirement. She was over there this morning several times just fine. Does it say your password is incorrect? Or another error message. You might try logging into Mesh Sandbox 3 ---- BUT AS I checked that she is there but the map isn't working or search on the map OR copy to clipboard etc. SO it may just be a temporary issue. Give it a few and try again and if it still isn't working you might want to file a ticket? Edit: She is the ONLY one in the four mesh sandbox grids. While not terribly unusual (not much going on there lately) it does sort of suggest something might be amiss .
  12. Thanks and I'll look at that but wouldn't that mess with the Materials view too? And it is fine. Probably just something odd in 2.78. And yes, I knew there was a new version out but "in general" I am doing OK and I so hate installing and setting up. I will face that soon though I guess as there seem to be a fair amount of odd and repeating issues that don't SEEM to be "me" . Just being picky I guess. Thanks for the thoughts!
  13. I thought I had all my settings the same but the solid view in the viewport in 2.78 seems way darker than it should be -- compared to 2.75 which I was using before. I most ofen use materials view but still would like to know what I need to change to get solid view lighter. RENDER view is accurate as it was in 2.75. Hints appreciated.
  14. If you can figure out who owns the site or who the webhosting provider is, you could contact them and simply report it (phone works quite well and be sure and stress that you have all the active files yadayada including the ones (hopefully) that you used while making and kept for backups). Doesn't sound like talking the folks that RUN the website will help much if indeed they are promoting. IF the host provider is in the US or Canada (or maybe some European countries IDK) it is very unlikely that they want their web hosting business linked to something as illegal as it sounds. If the sight is hosted in russia or one of the other countries who don't seem to care at all -- well then you are just out of luck. Sorry.
  15. Traditionally necklaces attach to chest or spine ( I had a jewelry store for some years). Before we could attach more than one thing in a spot most designers offered both choices in their necklace packs so that folks could wear the necklace with another attachment on the other point. So your necklace apparently was set to the wrong spot. Many new designers do that and then don't test ^^. IF you buy a COLLAR (tight necklace right around your neck and not dangling) you can easily have issues as those typically don't work well for either system or mesh bodies. Some collars these days are rigged and sometimes work (other times not). So just a word of warning. Try a demo first. Glad you worked it out.
  16. You might check out the Role Play section looking for family friendly communities. Some are retro themed and that might be a good fit for you. You can often live in the RP community and not actively role play -- or not much .
  17. Most everything in SL "resembles" a real life product except for fantasy items . If you remember your mesh upload test, you are not allowed to name things in a similar manner so N1ke for example or "Looks like a Mercedes" == things like that. There are apparently a few styles of furniture that are copyrighted (someone mentioned the Barcelona Chair). So far as shoes go, one very prominent shoe maker had some "Crocks" that they didn't CALL Crocks that are still in the database and the store is still there. BUT that being said, it is likely that there were different patterns of holes in the similar shoes. So "inspired by" and "copies" are different things. Realistically it is unlikely that the company you might be inspired by would care as we have seen copies of RL items often with similar names on the marketplace. No one is minding the store there (I personally think they should be). BUT I always think it is good to follow the rules -- especially ones that you agreed to in the Terms of Service.
  18. Agree with Amythest that Linden homes are ONLY residential and yes, nothing in the sky. You can buy a 512 lot for less than $512 lindens if you look around -- so $1 or $2 US . If you become a premium member and pay for a YEAR (the cheapest rate), your 512 lot basically cost you $17 a year at this afternoon's Lindex rate. This is because of the free tier on a 512 and the 300 lindens you get back each week. So that's $19 for the year including the purchase price to buy. You can RENT a nice 512 lot (no need to have premium membership or buy a lot) for $150 lindens a week from long time stable companies or even less from others if you are a gambler that they will stick around. That's $28 ish a year for the more secure rental. A bit less for a rental that could disappear at any moment LOL. So for a SMALL piece of land (a 512) your best deal is to be premium and buy. Also you have the ability to use ALL the land tools when it is your lot. Most rental lots have some land options still under their control. Note that this doesn't hold true for bigger pieces of land where it is a much better deal to rent -- if you know who to rent from .
  19. You can only download obj or dae files by using a third party viewer on items that YOU made. Since you apparently did not make your avatar, you cannot download the files. Hence your problem .
  20. Qie Niangao wrote: ChinRey wrote: These are 1024 m2 houses, not just 1024 parcels, and in a very rigid layout. Contrary to what Sabaoth seemed to see, each petal is absolutely identical too. Oh, this is more interesting than I'd thought. I mean, however much I like Mole builds, I've not been a fan of Linden Homes, but if the new Projects are 1024 m2 or better, that certainly suggests that just maybe they've finally seen the wisdom of upping the Premium bonus tier -- and, whatever these new sims may be, that tier change would breathe new life in the Mainland like nothing since Jack overbuilt Gaeta by a continent and a half. So agree. I have been saying that for YEEEEAAARS.
  21. Just wanted to mention that making a "pokeman" would likely be against the TOS of Linden Lab as well as the mesh upload test that everyone that IS uploading mesh had to complete. Something more ORIGINAL perhaps? Maybe you could draw out a look that you wanted. Just a thought.
  22. Well the obvious answer is to go to the shop and try them on. There are not that many. It looks a lot like mine which is STELLA so you might start with that. NOTE----- a TON of how a mesh head looks has to do with the applier so you are JUST looking at the shape. Here is the original look of the head with no appliers. and one with an applier And a DIFFERENT applier So JUST finding the head is only one part of your journey. I suggest you pick a head demo (maybe STELLA) and then try appliers FOR the head until you find a pairing that feels like YOU.
  23. Well for ME this was the important part: " For each uploader invocation, each of these subsidiary Files MUST contain the same number of objects as the main File, so that the uploader can associate one Object from each with the corresponding Object from the main File. To ensure the correct associations, we should use the naming convention whereby all of the Objects in each subsidiary File are names with the same name as the corresponding Object in the main File, with the specified suffix (e.g. "_PHYS" for the physics File). So all Objects in any subsidiary file should have the same suffix." So the Objects in the main Model (what I would think of as uploading a linkset) need to match naming wise the Objects in the Physics model (which would also be a Model made up of Objects). I still don't think I would (personally) use this for a house as I prefer to "build" it in world (maybe just a pschologial throughback to prim building and my creating as I go method) BUT I can see it coming in very handy for smaller things that might just have two or three objects in the model. So a big thanks there. This actually makes complete logical sense AFTER the light dawns .
  24. Ahhh. Well hopefully he will explain more. I doubt very many folks use that method. I have only seen houses appear in parts over on the beta grid. Then again, they might test somewhere else. Good luck!
  25. I think Drongle answered that for you a couple of days ago. It had to do with naming your physics meshes by a certain system accepted by the uploader. I have never done it so no help from me. THAT would be if you uploaded as a linkset which you were mentioning before. IF you join everything together as one mesh you can make a single physics mesh for that object. Doors of course if they will open would need to be separate in order to script. Again, you could take a big hit on the land impact cost doing it this way -- it really depends a LOT on the house in question. Going to retreive that comment now that I understand the method AND will test to see if it is true or not. If you made your own LOD models it seems like there should be no difference; I can see an issue with uploader generated LOD and the combined Objects in the Model method. It has been a long time since I tested the "whole house" versus the "in pieces" house.
