SubZeroWins
Hello all, could someone tell me why sometimes the textures when are fully loaded, after some time get blurred and then back to fully loaded again? animats
If the graphics card runs out of texture memory, sometimes the viewer will reduce some textures to lower resolution. What GPU and how much VRAM do you have?
SubZeroWins
Hello its GeForce GT 710/PCIe/SSE2 with 1Gb
Lyssa Greymoon
If you use Firestorm, make the following changes in the graphics settings: Hardware Settings: check Enable Lossy Texture compression Antialiasing: 2x Texture buffer memory: As high as it will go (I think 768MB) Rendering: check Restrict maximum texture resolution to 512px
SubZeroWins
Thank you Lyssa, I set it like this so I will keep an eye.

sandi Mexicola
You probably could use a video card with more memory. Failing that, i suggest dropping your draw distance. That way FS will not be trying to keep so many textures in memory at the same time.
SubZeroWins
It does that with any draw distance

Lyssa Greymoon
Try clearing your texture cache and restarting the viewer. I don’t know if the settings affect anything already in your cache or not. Starting out clean may help.
NiranV Dean
There is nothing to do really, 1GB is simply not enough, any place nowadays uses 1GB if not more, doesn't even need avatars, have a few things lying around and a house maybe (not even counting furniture) and you'll quickly see 1GB usage. Now... if there was an option to force load textures (not at full res, that option actually exists) at their current resolution fully disregarding memory at the cost of performance...

Just an option that disables the whole "texture thrashing" mechanic and simply allows textures to continue being loaded as needed. Basically a "f*** you texture memory" option. SubZeroWins
Thanks all, I think Niran is right, looks like there isnt anything to do with such a graphic card.

Nor Advanced Lighting Model unless taking photographs. With that GPU, keep your DD low. 64m max when there is no one else around, 32m max when out and about. Create graphic presets to make this easier https://wiki.firestormviewer.org/graphics_presets Also remove HUDs and only attach them when needed. Many tend to be texture memory hogs. Use favorite wearables to make this more manageable https://wiki.firestormviewer.org/fs_wearable_favorites
Lyssa Greymoon
What's the rest of your computer like? It's entirely possible that the integrated graphics are better than a 1GB GT 710, which is a really horrible graphics card. I've used 1GB graphics cards in SL and they've worked okay, but they've all been considerably better than that version of the 710.
