Are there any hostess clubs in SL?

For the people who are familiar with what a hostess club is... are there any ones in SL, or new ones just starting out? Asking because if you actually search for this in SL, 99.99% of results would be for pixel-humping clubs or your regular nightclub/dance club. 😒

I don't know if there is. I had the idea to start a host/hostess club YEARS ago, I just lacked the know how to do so.. Since I just never got around to it. It is something I would love to do still though.

It would be an interesting concept to attempt in SL, but it would require some education and publicity to differentiate itself from the regular SL (sex oriented) “companion” clubs.

I will say this; recently on these forms a friend of mine posted a thread about *just* wanting someone to dance with. The popularity of that thread seems to indicate that “finding someone for company” might have a place in SL.

If I recall correctly, “Hostess” clubs are primarily an Asian phenomenon. So to really get one going, expectations would need to be managed among the western population of SL.

...and you’ll still get 1 day old avatars popping in and asking where all the hookers are.......

But it might be a refreshing thing to try 🙂

Unfortunately that will be the case which is why the club will need to be somewhat exclusive and filter out all the idiots. Afaik "classier" escort lounges do exist (that block out all the 1 day old ugly newbies looking for a quick poseball hump), so this would be something similar with a different set of rules. Hostess clubs would be perfect for some short RP sessions. I remember Bare Rose back in the day had a "neko cafe" which is somewhat similar to a hostess club, where customers would come in and have casual chitchat with the staff all dressed in neko maid costumes.

I think it is a great idea but I think you’d have to write up a very clear and direct info card about what it is (and isn’t) AND how to behave. 😉

I know there have been successful maid cafes, but I’ve never come across a host or hostess club yet.

It could work, there is a sizable Kawaii niche on SL (not saying what you want to do is Kawaii). Enough people could be interested in something like that. I agree you’d have to put down some serious ground rules and be ready to do a lot of kicking and hire someone to do it when you’re not around. One thing that is consistent in SL clubs: if you tell someone not to do certain things...someone is going to attempt to do those certain things.

There is an active kyabakura that I know of but it is strictly for RL verified Japanese girls and patrons. Painfully exclusive in that they do not accept applications from non-Japanese even those who can speak the language. I believe there should be a hostess (or host) club that is open to foreigners and English speakers as well. Count me in if any of you would like to collaborate as I am also establishing an Asian-themed RP community that revolves around the nightlife industry. I have some kyaba experience IRL if that is relevant.
