It's probably a driver issue.  Your computer may be new, but its drivers were loaded before it was put on a shelf in the warehouse, months ago, so they probably need to be reinstalled.  That's always my first move with a new machine anyway.  Go directly to the NVidia or ATI/AMD site to download and install the current ones.  For other possible Win 10 issues, take a look at http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/win10

I have Win10 Pro so cannot speak to the home version.  But did you do all the Windows updates too. Is it just one viewer or did you try another viewer also?   I can't remember seeing any posts on this but checking the forum archives is always a good plan.

A couple minutes later:  My search didn't turn up anything.  I found a few posts through Google but they didn't seem to relevant to your issues.  So no hints there. Sorry.

There are apparently MANY versions of your computer so pasting in the specs might help those super techie folks with some answers. Not all "gaming" computers are equal of course :D.

Good luck.

I've also noticed that the ping is over 600. Could that have anything to do with it?

Ummm... yeah.  If your ping time is that high, you will have a hard time connecting.  SL depends on having good synchronization between your computer and the Linden Lab servers.  If your ping time is more than about 200 msec, you'll start to experience lag.  When it's as high as yours, you will probably disconnect a lot -- if you ever log on in the first place.  Long ping times are usually associated with being far away from the servers.  SL residents in Japan and Australia complain about theirs often.  You could also have a huge ping time if you were using a satellite Internet connection or if your signal is being routed through some very slow nodes in the Internet.  There's not much you can usually do about ping time, unfortunately, other than move to North America or get off of your satellite connection.  You might contact your ISP, though.

I am in North America. Georgia to be specific. I didn't have this problem with my other computer, so it can't be my internet.

I just did a clean install. It now says my ping is normal, but it still won't let me move around and it still keeps crashing.

Whew.  That's good, anyway.  So the ping time was a bogus statistic.

Next question .... Are you crashing or disconnecting?  That is, do you suddenly find yourself out of SL with no warning at all, or do you get an error message from SL before you are dumped out?  That's an important distinction.  It can tell you whether the problem is in your computer or Internet connection, on the one hand, or in your in-world environment (including settings in your viewer).  Without more information, it would be hard for anyone here to do more than guess what to try next, but you can get some suggestions by reading http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_run_crash  .  One of the common reasons for being disconnected, as described on that page, is an unreliable connection to a DNS server, so pay attention to that possibility and to the possibility that your modem or router may simply need rebooting.  If you are actually crashing,  review some of the suggestions for optimizing your settings in Preferences.

I placed all of my specs above, so if any of that's helpful... at all.

with specs we mostly mean the copy/paste of the systeminfo from the help menu ... in yours is a lot of stuff that's not helpfull :)  while i miss the important graphics (if i'm not overlooking it..)

Thank you for that information.  That looks like a good entry-level gaming laptop.  The GTX 1050Ti is quite adequate for SL and should perform well even at high graphics settings.

One of the things to watch out for with any laptop is overheating, especially when you are running a program like SL that puts heavy power demands on the graphics card.  Try not running other programs of any size at the same time, and be sure that your laptop is adequately ventilated.  You can get a good stand with a fan in it from Best Buy (or even Wal-Mart) for about $25.  It's a smart investment.  I don't normally use my own laptop for SL, but when I do the temperature rises about 20 degrees C, even with a good fan under it.  You should monitor your machine's temperature to see what it does -- Google for a free program -- to be sure that it doesn't get much above 80 C for long periods of time.  If it does, the machine will probably dump you out of SL automatically to cool itself off anyway, but you don't want to push it too hard.

The temperature is fine, the ping is fine, but for some reason it keeps logging me out. I don't know what else to do or try.

This is going to sound super simplistic (and the reason I asked for the specs was that when I went to the website it said there were models from $1100 to $2200 so that is a pretty big range of computers all called the same thing). Anyway, do you have it set in the viewer so that it will NOT log you out?  I know that sounds odd, but there is a setting that if you aren't really doing something it will log you out. Most of us that I know turned that off LONG ago (it was from WAAAAAY back when), but if you did a clean install you might have lost that setting.

Not sure what viewer you are using or maybe I just missed that.

I have the first one, the cheapest one listed. Also I didn't really think about trying that. I'm not sure what good it will do since it logs me out after only a few minutes or seconds, depending on how generous it's feeling. But at this point I'll try almost anything.

I went to the preferences and that option's already checked.

I know this may be a long shot, but does this help?

The log is truncated & the viewer hasn't even got to the login screen yet.
Can you reproduce the crash & then before you relaunch the viewer, post the full contents of firestorm.log.
Even better would be if you could zip up the whole logs folder & upload it on dropbox/google drive or similar & give the link.

If the viewer is crashing, rather then disconnecting there's extra information in the logs folder that should show exactly where in the code the viewer is crashing.

Edit to add:  the log snippet you posted looks totally normal & doesn't hint at a problem.

Thanks.  Unfortunately that log is from a session where you quit the viewer at the login screen, so it doesn't show the problem.

Can you reproduce the viewer crash & then before you relaunch the viewer, even to the login screen, zip up the whole logs folder & put the logs.zip up on dropbox.

Thanks!

Try using a direct cable or DSL connection instead. Plenty of people have no trouble with wifi, but Linden Lab neither recommends not supports it.  There's too much chance of data loss or corruption, especially since some of the data stream is sent in UDP packets, which do not have error correction.

I am no expert on reading crash dumps, but I see several lines in there that would indicate that Windows is having a hard time finding some key files for the viewer.  I would suggest doing a complete clean install of Firestorm.  Instructions here: http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_clean_install

In addition, if a fresh installation doesn't solve the problem, download and try the Firestorm 32 bit viewer.  Use the one for "SL 32 bit Havok".
