Perrie Juran
Go to the Georgean Test Track. It and the surounding SIMs are great for ATVs http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Georgean/204/207/
Theresa Tennyson
Most of the Mainland continents have extensive road networks. Newer continents have a section of road in each region the road runs through where you can rezz a vehicle. They're less common in Heterocetera and Sansara but there are public rezz areas on those continents too. For Sansara (the "old" continent) you can rezz at the ends of the roads in the regions Noyo and Tathlina for instance.

Perrie Juran
The Rez Zone at Gorean is at the track itself. I'm not sure about Rez zones in the surrounding SIMs.
TundraFire Nightfire
You can use inworld search to find rez zones. Just type in "rez zone" under "places" and you should be able to find several on the Linden road system at the top of the list.

Bobbie Faulds
Drop into Minoa sim. From there you can go in either direction. If you open your map and zoom out, you'll see it's part of a very extensive loop. It even has a bus that goes by periodically you can ride in...I've covered about 1/3 of the loop so far and lots of pretty scenery and smooth road. I even found stores I'd TPd to for hunt but didn't really know where they were at the time...grins. Good luck.
Abigail Longmeadow
This page links to more detailed pages showing roads on each continent:http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Second_Life_Road_Network_Directory The road maps all on one web site:http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Department_of_Public_Works_Roads Additional info:http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Parks_and_Recreation_Directory http://secondlife.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Continents And for off-road driving, try this Linden region: Salt Gulch (39, 62, 51) (I think this is a premium account only region. It is 4 sims of rocky hilly desert land with rough trails. This is the main Rez zone and starting line.)
Aethelwine
For driving on private sims take a look at some of the links I put in this post
Evangeline Arcadia
There are a number of road networks in Second Life you can travel and use vehicles on - they have rez areas at points along them so you can rez a vehicle from your inventory to use, and the routes are quite interesting if you like exploring. There's information here http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Second_Life_Road_Network_Directory. Check out my blog post for an example of route 9 (which I still haven't finished exploring!) http://evangelinearcadia.blogspot.co.uk/2014/10/road-tripping-second-life-routes-route-9.html. Along route 9 is an explorer's center which has maps , I think there are centers elswhere too (and somewhere online, but I can't find the link at the moment). Abigail Longmeadow
I found the Explorer's web site: http://www.protected-routes.com/ There are lots of good maps here. You can also get maps in-world from the Explorer's information centers.
Cradom Denimore
My screen name (Walker) is from walking the extensive road system. I've walked three continents worth of roads so far. And if you get tired of driving there's an extensive railroad network too.

Pussycat Catnap
Bay City can be a good place to start - for city layouts. I've got a spot on Bay City Morton that has rezzing, and a few sims north of me is the main road - along which some people have allowed rezzing. That road leads out of Bay city and joins the roads on the continent east of it.
