I hate to derail, but, again, I was wondering if the Doctor has access to drone technology?  Venus has been giving me some static lately, so I was just wondering ...

ETA Hey, my world, my imagination.  Right?

You may need to purchase a helmet for that emoticon!  Let's wait until the OP responds.

In terms of the research question of this specific study, we are primarily interested in what factors go into people's choices of avatar.  What is it that makes one person chose one type of avatar and a different person chose a different type?  Why do some people chose to use avatars that reflect their RL appearance, whilst others do not?

Do you actually realise that this is a non-starter? Most participants in SL not only have multiple accounts, but also have any number of versions of their avatars, with different sexual orientations, shapes and skins (human and otherwise) which are changed according to the company being kept, the activities being engaged in, the time of year, and for most females, to accessorise their current favourite pair of shoes. Add to that the shift in understanding of the options available through time, and the advances in technology which impact upon appearance, together with economic factors, and the correlation between virtual representation and reality (which also changes, although hair colour washes out more slowly and six-packs turn inexorably into beer barrels) is negligible, or if it exists, will  be specious.

And then there are the kid avatars . . .

You obviously haven't a clue about how SL works. Cut your losses and quit now, before you get suckered into generating inadmissable conclusions by a bunch of illegal minors who will send you photos of their parents in order to get their hands on the equivalent of a weekend paper round's wages.

All of the RL images you need to map to SL avatars can be found in a very beta-beta version of SL (called Macintosh).  All you need do now is go inworld and start snapping photos.

P.S. the blonde chick is Philip Linden in drag.  There, now, you have a head start.

That must have been before the "jiggle" option was implemented, because despite all that bounding and twirling, Philip's decidely ample bosom doesn't appear to bounce a millimetre. Or maybe he's wearing a Jean-Paul Gautier designed sports bra.

Cut his losses?  But, but it's a fully funded project!   It's a win-win for the OP.

Your enthusiasm is suspicious Storm. In the spirit of disclosure can you confirm that you have no longer have a business interest in, or connection with the NSA, the CIA or MongoDB.

Now that you have retired as a contract assassin, that is.

Project managers are remunerated in much different forms than that of contract assassins.

W̶e̶  Contract assassins never believe "the check is in the mail" so clients always pay in advance.
