LOOPHOLE IN CLUB 'SPLODERS' BEING EXPLOITED BY NON CLUB AVATARS !

I've seen quite a few clubs with 'Sploders' that give out random amounts of $L to "CLUB MEMBERS".

However, I've been seeing an unusual name in many of them who also happens to NOT be a member

of those clubs. You've apparently got a loophole that's being exploited by names such as "AV Offline" and they're

apparently raking in money hand over fist because of it.

I enjoy playing with sploders myself, I know the owners of the clubs get a cut, and its one way for me to support them while having fun.  The clubs where I hang out do not limit payments to members only, and they do allow payoffs to avatars who have logged off when the sploder finally splodes.  I myself have been "AV offline" more than once, and so have my friends.  It is a nice feature, because I know, even if it a slow night, and no one else enters the pot, sooner or later I will have my chance at getting back a few $L's, even if I am sound asleep in RL.

Are you trying to inform Linden Lab about a possible Loop Hole?

Linden's very very rarely read these threads.

It is even more rare that they respond.

If you think they are violating the TOS in some way you could use the abuse report feature In World.

How do you or anyone else know how often a Linden employee reads the forums? You can state that they do not respond, but unless you are monitoring them, yourself or anyone else has no way of knowing.

@all: If you pay to play and there's a random chance of winning or a certainty of winning a random amount then it's illegal and contrary to LL's gaming policy anyway.  Nearly all 'sploders in SL are illegal (so why's it only mine that LL took off the marketplace years ago?)

@OP: Learn a little about SL.  It's made by residents so there are MANY makes of 'sploder and everything else by MANY different creators.  Neither they nor almost anything else you see in SL is made, owned or operated by LL.

Those of us that frequent the forums, and have for years, know from experience.  You rarely see a Linden post here and then only in the Server subform about rollouts or rarely in the Merchants subforum to announce MP iimprovements screwups.

Of the thousands of posts that have been made on this forum like yours or by people making suggestions to improve SL the number that have gotten any attention from LL is so close to zero that we consider it a miracle if they reply or take the suggestion.

But don't take my word for it, use search to see how many posts have been made by a Linden anyplace other than in the Technology or Merchants areas.

As far as your post I doubt seriously what you say is true.  AV Offline would have to enter in order for the sploder to get their avatar key and pay them.  Scripts get the key and use it to look up the name of the AV, not the other way around.  The avatar key is what is referenced in making the payment not the name.  The name is only used for the text that the sploder creates.  This is how the sploder scripts work.  AV Offline on a sploder indicates someone who entered is no longer present and the money is not paid out in that amount.  It generally goes to the owner.  Even if true,  LL will NOT get involved.  LL is not responsible for any products made in SL.  If you have a gripe you must take it up with the creator.

Because they don't care. Or do you think they really enjoy all the indian escort spam and thats why nothing ever happens in the past years to protect this forum from tons of spam messages?

A sploder is payed by several avatars.

Some time later there is payout time.

If the winning avatar is no more in sim at that time the script is unable to retrieve the avatars name, but can still pay out since it needs only the uuid for payout and not the name. The name it displays is then unknown or av offline or whatever.

note:

It is possible to get the name of an offline avatar but thats a bit more complicated to script.

Why do people scream exploit who don't know whats going on?

You are right, I don't know for a fact how often a Linden reads these.

Maybe some of them do on their lunch break for a good laugh.

We do know that out side of the Technology/Server Forum, responses are in the category of the miraculous.

When we do see them log in, for instance CommerceTeam Linden, they post their update and log right out.

I just did a check through Users On Line and there wasn't a single Linden listed.  That is about par for course.

Observing sploders in several clubs for weeks on end I've found many will consistently pay out the bulk of their proceeds to a small number of avatars, most of which are not in fact in the club at the time and didn't pay in anything. This is not restricted to avatars that might have been there earlier, as this goes on for cycle after cycle over an evening.

E.g. ObviousClubBot Resident gets 90% first run of the evening, 80% second run half an hour later, 75% third run 20 minutes after that, 90% fourth run 10 minutes in, and isn't in the club at all (not even elsewhere on the sim).

And then there's indeed the payouts to anonymous avatars, which could be indeed former visitors since left but again these happen even during runs in which all the payees into the sploder are still in the club when payout happens.

So yes, there are rigged sploders out there. I don't know if it's the majority of them or whether I just happened across an unusual spread, but in my experience of several dozen clubs over the last half year or so they are indeed the majority.

And club owners wonder why many regulars don't bother to put money in sploders... At least the 50/50 sploders I see in some clubs are honest, in that they state quite clearly only half the money paid in gets paid out again, the rest going to the club. Nothing wrong with that.

to be fair, they could have a corporate policy to not post here under their Linden accounts to prevent getting flooded with requests and complaints from users.

This is not in fact an uncommon policy.

Oh, I wouldn't doubt that at all.

But I would also question if that was the only reason.  :)
