"One of the first things to learn about iSkye Silverweb, the last of the Launch 1 Grant Award artists to be featured in our snapshot series, is that she is a very busy woman, her second life overlapping with real life passions and commitments. iSkye is a facilitator and enabler in both worlds, with responsibilities in several organisations" Read more on the blog.

"Deyanira Yalin’s digital manipulations have always been striking. Often deceptively bright, they sometimes seem to conceal something deeper, darker. Her aptly named exhibit, “Portals” in Janus Gallery II tears open the veil between realities. Each piece feels like a glimpse into a different parallel dimension, or a dive into a world of fantasy made real." Read more on the blog.
"Art Galerie HaXue is owned by the two artists Puce (titput) and Cayenne (Bebop Xue). During my visit Nieu (NieuwenHove) was present as he was preparing the stage for the opening party. He gave me some background information about the two artists:" Read more on the blog.
"Mei Vohn’s photostream is a glorious travel journal of Second Life sims highlighted by a person who sees the beauty in a single detail. Her pictures are very impressionistic. They make me think of the phrase “see through a glass darkly” from First Corinthians. Her pictures give us impressions, we have to go there to see it for ourselves. I just wish she gave Second Life teleport links to the places she's visited." Read more on the blog.
"WHAT IF I’M A PRINCESS ON ANOTHER PLANET? AND NO ONE ON THIS PLANET KNOWS IT?
The above quote, from The Carrie Diaries by American author Candace Bushnell, is a musing on the part of the book’s protagonist, the young Carrie Bradshaw (the book is a prequel to Carrie’s later adventure in Sex and the City) as she endures high school in Cranberry, Connecticut and dreams of life in New York City and all she might become / escape once she has moved there to become an aspiring author, and left behind her provincial origins.
It is also a quote that Cica Ghost uses in her latest installation, which opened on Tuesday, January 26th, 2021 – and in using it, she offers perhaps the most perfect encapsulation of what Second Life can be to those of us invested in their digital world."
"When viewing Asperix Asp’s digital creations, it becomes evident that Asperix is in a league of his own. His use of fractals and exquisite rendering techniques will surely have you absorbed in each of his pieces. One aspect that completely sticks out in his digital imagery is his experience. Asperix’ work is not simplistic in the sense of creation, nor is it so complex that you become lost in interpretation. " Read more on the blog.
"One great thing to come out of the Biden inauguration yesterday... are the Bernie memes, photoshopping the cranky senator in mittens into various wacky situations. Acting quickly, the acclaimed metaverse artist known as Whiskey Monday brought Bernie into several of her Second Life scenes." Read more on the blog.
"I was immediately drawn to “Saying Goodbye” from Trisha Rose. It is beautifully composed directing my attention to the figures in the tree even though it does not follow the Rule of Thirds or Fifths or the Golden Mean. What’s going on? I had to download it, run it through GIMP's cropping guideline feature, and fiddle around seeing what gave it such appeal. Referencing this handy tutorial I recommend to image makers, I checked how its diagonals line up:" Read more on the blog.

"Melusina Parkin opened her latest exhibition in Second Life Life on Thursday, January 14th at the Kondor Art Centre’s White Gallery. Lockdown and Hope is a highly topical selection of art by Melu that takes as a part of its theme – as the name implies – something that remains on a lot of people’s minds as we roll on into 2021: the situation around the continuing threat of the SARS-CoV-2 virus / COVID-19, and the continuing grind, for so many of us, of being in a lockdown situation that brings limited opportunities to get out, interact with others or do the things we really want to do." Read more on the blog.
"If I say something is art, you might think of the Mona Lisa or the Sistine Chapel or the Impressionists, or some other iconic works of art. You know what art is, because your brain has all sorts of association it can link to, and those associations have been validated as art by just about the entire planet. Not many people are going to argue that the Mona Lisa isn’t art." Read more on the blog.

"There is something inherently primeval about Lash’s work. At first glance his pieces feel raw, unfiltered, as if a caveman were brought into our time, handed modern art tools, and let loose upon our world." Read more on the blog.
