  1. Okay, here is a controversial question: LL already have a way to control that one avatar can't have more than one Linden Home. What if... one avatar can't have more than one parcel in this new type land? Land flippers can flip only one parcel at a time, and don't buy up 100 parcels in one go when new land is released. Or: Parcels can not be resold the first 30 days... They can still be rented out, but that is not quick profit. I do not like the idea, but it is necessary? Again, we can not have nice things, because it is always some jerk coming in and taking advantage of it. A flipper can have alts, of course. So I am not sure how well it works.
  2. It could be more than one size... at least 3 sizes. 1024, 2048 and 4096. It works partly this time already, 2 parcels next to each other and rented out as one is easy to find.
  3. Back in the old, old days and old forum, it was a guy with a long name starting with "P". I wonder if it was "Pserendipity" or something. I wrote a post that was a bit of rambling, with a very long sentence. He ripped it up in small pieces and wrote a scatching reply that was so nasty that I was first cold, than hot, when I was reading it. This was his signature work, making people angry and reply. With his acerbic pen, and very good grip on the English language, I would be no match for him. I was fuming and trying to write a reply, deleting it before posting, and ignored him and continued the discussion. That was smart of me. But it was very hard. Every time one say "Be kind" the line is moved closer and closer to "If you cannot be positive, at least be quiet". It is the recipient that decide what is kind or not. People get more and more thin skinned, because they are never exposed to snark, sarcasm, bitingly critical comments and options they did not ask for. Young people belive that they should go through life without experiencing negativity. We are already a society where people is afraid to voice different opinions, because they have been told they must be positive.
  4. I am on several other forums that's not related to SL, and I see the same everywhere I read. It is always posts about how bad the forum is... The thing is, all forums I have been on is mostly the same. The same arguments, the same groups of people that disagree or agree, the same enemies going on each others nerves... The same friends always supporting each other. This forum is nothing out of the ordinary.

I am responding to the: A single home constructed and sold as one piece, vs someone with modify permissions unlinking the build and possibly using it as a building piece set - at a bargain price. I disagree because 1: I do not get every part in the building set, unless you use them all in a single building. 2: You have changed permissions to No Transfer and do not include any maps. With this, the value of the parts I get in the building is not the same as the original Full Permissions set. It is a reason why "for personal use" is No Transfer and a lower price. Like a resizer script I bought. The "personal" script is only 99 L and I can put it in stuff I own where I want accurate resizing and not just stretch the objects. Let us say I want all the kitchen modules I bought from a creator resized 4% shorter in Z and 7% smaller in X and Y. It is very handy, and just what I need. It makes perfect sense that the script is No Modify, or else I could open it, copy the contents in a script I had made, and use it as a Full Permissions script. With the limited number of modules I get in a building like shown, I can build a smaller version, with one room instead of two, add more stairs because the ground is high up over the water, etc. It would be very practical for me, and you already got your money for the original house. All changes I made would only be versions of it, and I can not sell it. I think it is more likely that customers would think: "This is very versatile buildings. I can buy more from this creator, because I can take off parts and add parts and get just the size and number of rooms I need."
  6. I have a modern house where large parts of the outdoor walls is white plaster. I have planted some climbing vines, but there are walls where the outdoor tiles go to the wall. I can't plant in the tiles, and it is not room for containers against the wall. I have only seen outdoor rustic wall decor like fish nets and oars, not things suited for a modern house. Anyone who can recommend a store?
  7. It is the same, no terraforming, fixed parcel size and double prims. I am keeping an eye on the parcels I rented in Bay City before. I am moving back if the current tenant is leaving. Bay City is pretty. Horizons is adult. The price to rent isn't higher in Horizons, so people are not lining up because they need to do slex outdoors. It is always some empty parcels there to rent. Rental agencies rent out double, triple, quadruple parcels side-to side to each other, as one whole parcel. They can't be merged, but work as one parcel. And the price to buy plots there is astronomical, because of double prims. Mmm... double prims.... 🤤 The only thing I miss is terraforming, but it had to be a very strict range. Maybe 2 m down. Just enough for a pool. We can't have nice things, there are always some who would raise up land as far as it goes. When I zoom out on the map, it is really many regions and homesteads in addition to Mainland and Bellisseria. People are willing to pay for a lot of land, even if I think SL land is too expensive. Both buying, renting and tier. I could not live in a Sandbox again as I did the first years in SL. Changing house, landscaping... it is what I like in SL.
  8. Linden Lab does not need to invent new Mainland again. Just copy Horizons and set a few rules. I do not mean rules as in "style of houses", Bellisseria already cover that. Drop the futuristic roads and the mailboxes, replace them with ordinary roads. What matters is how low skyboxes can be, and height of buildings/trees/ground structures. Maybe disable ban lines. If LL want to enforce rules, they can do it. But it is doomed to fail if they do not follow up the rules. I think the landscaping of Horizons is good, it is lots of waterways crossing through every region. Much more water than in Bellisseria! I also think the landscaping is fine. Some hills and trees is enough, why spend land impact on more? It is also enough communal land and water to give a feeling of privacy. The plots are not squeezed together.
  9. I have been thinking about it, but it will be a lot of money to pay yearly for all alts in one go. I had several Premium accounts and a land group when I was working. I also had the alts holding several houses in Bellisseria the first years, then I was reducing the number to zero. Now I am living on disability benefits. It is also the price of the land of course. I was very lucky and rented a perfect place in Mainland, and I have no doubt that the land will be sold for a hefty price. And I really liked that piece of SL, but I am a realist. It is too much money. I do not sit and think it is sad that I have moved, or that life isn't fair. SL is a hobby that I set up a budget for, and I do not forget it and start throwing money around to keep virtual land. I already have another place. 🙂
  10. I got a message from him, he says his account manager has contacted me. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. It was fair enough that the landlord replied within 24 hours. I can't complain. Yep, the land is going to be set for sale. Well, I haven't lost any rent. I would have bought Mainland, if it wasn't for that effing VAT and taxes. There are never any guarantee that I can keep land, when I rent on Mainland or on an estate. Only purchases from LL can I be sure to keep "forever". (As long as Second Life exists and I pay tier to LL) So a bit sad, but it is not the end of the world. Lots of places to rent, but I was very lucky there with that location.
  11. Ah, I am worried that this is not going to end well. It is a kiosk in his office, to browse or pay. I can not pay there either. I find the parcels that's available for rent. They have boxes with CasparLet scripts inside, but the same empty when I click them. I was going to see if I could rent. Not that I would, but I wanted to see if it was payment options in them. Maybe he's not going to rent out anymore, and will sell it. It is no notices in the group, and while I am thinking about it, I do not think I have missed a notecard. I have usually got a warning that I have so-and so long time left to rent. Anyways, I have picked up my no copy things and are just waiting to see what happens.
  12. It's possible that I have missed something. I am bombarded with group messages and notecards about weekend sales every time I log in. It's groups I have paid for, so I can not quit them. But it is really annoying, it is only spam. But I hope he is reading my IM. I will look in the rentals group.
  13. I am paying rent to a box made by CasperLet rental system. When I click "pay" I used to get up the options pay one week, 2 weeks, etc. But now when I click pay, these options are gone in the "pay resident" window. I contacted the landlord to let him know about my trouble. It is only 8 hours left, and I hope I am not evicted after the time is up. I asked the landlord to pay him directly, but have not heard back. Edit: I have tried both Firestorm and the LL Official viewer. Same result.
  14. The worst thing for me, is when the item is listed as modify because it has a resizer script or a texture change script. But it can not be tinted or textured, or if it is a rezzable object in many parts, I can not unlink parts, or link the item in a linkset. In my book, that is the biggest sin. It is a warped way of thinking about an item as modify.
