  1. It`s not only for sl, it`s for everything and when ll finally make the sl client sli/crossfire compatible, you`ll be running around sl with 200 fps with every lighting/shadow setting on max with 0 lag
  2. There is a difference between ultra and deferred rendering enabled with high settings Every one says they rung "great" on ultra, but cringe when they enabled deferred and their fps drop to 12 :matte-motes-mad:
  3. ASUS Rampage IV Extreme Intel® Core™ i7-3930K 3x EVGA GeForce GTX 580 windows hdd: Corsair CSSD-F120GBGT-BK SilverStone Strider ST1500 Can say it runs great, add a watercooling for the cpu and gpu`s and you can oc the cpu to a purring 4.5ghz 24/7 and the cards do 1025/2050 with ease :matte-motes-silly:
  4. It will run sl but i can`t say about the quality because of the onboard graphics Intel made some leaps with building it into the cpu and it`s alot better then the past, but it remains onboard with shared memory If you would add a normal graphics card, i don`t see a problem btw, where`s the damn quote button?? :matte-motes-sour:
  5. All the motherboards have an inbuilt lan port for the cable Connecting it wireless to your network, you will have to get an wireless usb antenna or use that from the current pc if there is one. Lan cable is still the fastest and reliable tho Personally i`d rather drill a few holes in the walls for a cable then have the pc on wireless, only use it for the iphone and laptop
  6. Try disabling VBO under hardware, the frames will drop drasticly but try to survive the time with what your doing normally do befor a crash after 10 minutes. Mine crashes when in abit more crowded place and people wear mesh, i asked the exodus devs and they confirmed that it crashed due to a VBO+mesh bug. The LL client does the same as does firestorm so it`s an LL code issue. Maybe we just have our settings to high to have it happen more often then others
  7. Looks great and even a 580 :matte-motes-silly: If they will assamble it for you and install i`d say go for it, but get the original windows cd AMD are great cpu`s aswel, the intels are just *abit* faster when it comes to heavy workload, but don`t worry about that
  8. I was, If op manages to get a 580, it wouldn`t have to be an sli setup, wich also saves money for a lesser psu. The question was specific for sl, but if sl runs at decent high settings, it will work with other games
  9. SL doesn`t support sli or crossfire so 2 cards is a waste of money for better parts :matte-motes-crying:
  10. Don`t listen to Orca, he`s clearly the expert... cpu does matter, the sandybridges are faster then the old i7`s counterparts. Mobo, asus is one of the few brands that doesn`t craps out along with evga, and we are pushing the buggers to their limits in our lil oc club. 600wat psu is more then enough unless you add a second gpu, it`s a sales pitch... More ram is better, bull**bleep**, more ram is only expensive, your client will crash befor you get 1.5gig ram filled with sl stuff, stick to 4 for now to keep the costs abit down untill you want to add another 4 gig. Faster memory is good, but memory also has timings, why i posted that ram set CAS Latency (CL) 9RAS-to-CAS-Delay (tRCD) 9RAS-Precharge-Time (tRP) 9Row-Active-Time (tRAS) 24 But as i`m a watercooling FREAK, run pc heavilly overclocked, in an overclocking club where we see more hardware fail then succeed some punishment, feel free to listen to the other experts... i`m not putting a list out as i`m clueless...
  11. My god stop the bikkering... If you want to run sl smooth on ultra, your fine with a pc in that price range, i would only strongly suggest to go with a nvidia card. IF you wnat deferred rendeing (shadows+light), you won`t be able to run at ultra, but ultra tbh is pointless as you defenetly never want 1024 draw distance and 8000 particles With some custom settings you will be able to run with deferred enabled, just don`t expect to run at 30 fps on a mid ranged pc with very high settings across the board ps; for the love of god, don`t go for a brand pc, really, don`t, go to your local shop and ask for something like this: cpu: i5 960 2.8ghz mobo: ASUS Maximus IV GENE-Z/GEN3 (my fav brand, only the rampage extreme series ) ram: Corsair 4 GB DDR3-1600 Kit psu: SilverStone ST60F-P or ST60F-ES Ask in the shop for the costs and/or different parts, but don`t let them convince you to buy directly, get the parts they can supply back here, i`ll keep an eye out, some of those store.. *chill* You might even have some bucks to spare to get the 580 gtx instead of a 560 depending all the prices
  12. Tried figuring it out aswell and i`m clueless, what`s the server supposed to do??
  13. Popularity contest or not, every one should just do it for fun lol
  14. Did you double check that the items you bought were actually free? People put freebies in a corner and the rest of the payed items around, going clicking around without double checking the price is a bad thing
  15. Wrong, once it`s download, it`s store in the cache. If you set 10gig cahce, you can go to all your fav places and wait for it to load, when you return to that spot later on, the textures are loaded almost instantly and only the gpu needs to render them. Getting more ram is pointless when not running 64bit, and even then, after 14 hour ingame session with building/texturing/shopping/clubbing, sl still doesn`t use more then 1.7gig of ram. I have 16gig installed running at 2133mhz, all cached places render within seconds from an vertex 2. Experimented with ramdisk and that was a dissaster because it has to load 4gig into memory at once instead of loading indivudual textures from an ssd, the rendering time was exactly the same as that is the job of the gpu.
  16. Wait, you have shadows when sliding to ultra? Ultra doesn`t mean the card cvan do deferred, it just puts everything else on max settings like range/quality/etc
  17. hmm Wich graphics cards do you have? I` starting to think it doesn`t supports it
  18. Don`t look in rendering but prefs, this should be enabled: If your hardware supports it atleast
  19. It`s under prefs -> graphics -> hardware -> enable VBO Then you can enable deferred rendering (shadows)
  20. It is possible to setup a store on restricted linden land But, i`m not going to tell it :matte-motes-nerdy: After thinkg about it for abit, there are even several ways to do it lol
  21. and ontop of https, encrypt the sent data to compare to a fault
