What happened to your zen-like equanimity? You lose it over timed-demos?

Actually, discussion threads may have any or more of the following points: 1. Complaint/rant, e.g., men are all sex-fiends and ruin SL. 2. How-to, e.g., how do exchange real money for L$ without getting massively screwed; 3. Entertainment, e.g. posting cat or dog photos; 4. Relief from loneliness because SL is so empty with many AFK avatars, e.g. posting photos of your avatar or SL home decorations because otherwise no one would ever notice.

Cool. Thought it was just me that thought SL was too expensive because of the hardware required to get those flying body parts to coalesce in less than five minutes.

Licensing costs would likely be lower in the short term. Compare the cost for 1 month of premium vs. annual vs. lifetime.

Stores are outdated. You don't need one with the marketplace and demos. And if people don't like your goods/services, they won't buy it at all, which is one of the reasons SL has a customer retention problem.

I don't want to buy new stuff. I want to sell new stuff to people that wouldn't buy except for the license term ending and a renewal fee falling due. If it works for Office 365 and SL premium subscriptions, it should work for SL creators.

That's not a troll. It's a good idea. Software and digital products last too long. Efforts need to be made to convert them into consumables.

Who has been saying that?

Already been tried in SL. It's called breedables and DFS (something about a farm system). This market model has been proven repeatedly. Why sell something with a perpetual license that requires periodic updating? It's a bad deal for creators. Clothing should be an item that wears out over time and requires replacement, i.e., it's a consumable. For me to want to try that sales model out would require me to reinstall a viewer on my computer and waste more of my time and then LL takes a cut when I sell the item, another cut when I convert L$ to USD and than another cut when I withdraw the USD to Paypal.

I think creators should shift to timed everything, including the actual product, so it's like an Office 365 subscription or premium membership. That new mesh body you just bought or fancy dress? You get a license for use for one year in SL. After that, you have to renew the subscription. Otherwise, the timer deletes the item from your inventory.

Sometimes there's a big cylinder in front too that blocks your view of the clothes when you're wearing the demo. So timed demos that don't have that are advantageous sometimes.

Wasting time is the whole point of SL.

If someone is interested in Lab Gab or Meet the Moles, they will watch the video provide directly from SL w/o going through a streamer. And shopping events would be terrible to stream, nothing but lag and floating body parts. Streams are normally of something in real time with fast action requiring quick reflexes like a Fortnite game or bullet chess.

Was the demo free? If so, just buy another demo if you didn't have enough time.

SL is boring though. What could you stream from SL that would be worthwhile watching?

That's quite an achievement: 1. One Linden on your friends list: 5000 XP 2. Two Lindens on your friends list: 10000 XP

What is FIC?

The first five challenges are worth 100 XP. This last one is worth 500 XP: 6. Having your gender voice verified.

What about XP level based on completing a series of challenges: Creating and selling something on the marketplace. Winning a duel in Gor. Becoming a land owner. More than L$1,000 in sales on the marketplace Collaring someone.

A rating system for landlords might be beneficial. SL landlords cheating tenants is a recurring complaint by renters, for which there is no recourse but the admonition "next time, don't pay more than a weeks rent in advance."

How about an AFK rating that shows the percentage of time an avatar spends AFK?

This is the perfect game for that.

Use an avatar that nobody wants to have sex with, like a robot or a cat.
