  1. SL and everyone in it is considered creepy. That's why Twitch forbids SL streams.
  2. No hopes or fears. I'm expecting a glorified message app, pretty much like Lumiya. The net effect will be avatars standing around AFK on their phone.
  3. A game controller is not going to make a difference. I play combat games all the time on a PC without a controller. A controller just slows me down. I really don't see SL as a combat platform, SL is too slow, laggy and has bad graphics and animations. What's missing in that video, is other combatants, typically around a 100. SL can't handle that many players. SL is for lovers, not fighters. That's the niche the developers should enhance and improve.
  4. Only for basic membership. Premium members should retain the ability to turn off signatures.
  5. Recommend to Governance that LL charge L$150 per week for a signature.
  6. I don't think the bloggers are going to be paid. They're more like mentors/volunteers.
  7. The mating call, really? When you self-reliant types desire social interaction you build a mesh avatar, hook it up to a chatGPT and have deep, intimate conversations?
  8. In SL: 1. Radical Inclusion: Yes, Goreans, lust-fiends, broken-people, furries, tinies and everyone else has a place. 2. Gifting: Not really. There are some pretty good gifts around the holidays, otherwise you have to buy everything. 3. Decommodification: No, transactions, advertising and consumption are important in SL. One of the main pass times is shopping. 4. Radical Self-reliance: Yes, residents are mainly on their own. 5. Radical Self-expression: It's possible. 6. Communal Effort: Primarily for x-rated adult activities. 7. Civic Responsibility: There are a few events to raise funds for good causes. 8. Leaving No Trace: There are a lot of bad builds left lying around. 9. Participation: Everyone is invited to work, but at an appalling low wage and if they have a good avatar. Yes, everyone is invited to play. No, SL does not make the world real. 10. Immediacy: We seek to overcome barriers that stand between us and a recognition of our inner selves, the reality of those around us, participation in society, and contact with a natural world exceeding human powers. Absolutely not. SL obscures reality. Everyone is still a loser sitting mostly AFK in front of a computer monitor.
  9. A lot of people do find better things to do, which is why SL's population is shrinking. What are you doing complaining about people complaining? If SL is so fantastic, go in-world and have fun.
  10. Fortnite isn't FPS. It's 3rd person like SL. The camera hangs over the avatar's right or left shoulder, depending on player preference. Like SL, Fortnite has building, avatars (called skins in Fornite), and ways to customize the avatars with attachments. Fortnite was released in 2017 and is wildly successful. In terms of popularity, it's what SL could have been with the right decisions from management.
  11. That was a huge waste of time and money by LL management. What was management thinking? Probably that SL was dying and they needed a replacement game.
  12. makes me worry. All SL needs is a little less lag and a slightly better class of people.
  13. Great, why don't you go in-world instead of posting in the forums? Or have your parked your avatar in-world and gone AFK because you're in-world and it's dreadfully boring? Edit: Firestorm shows 46,591 currently online. People must be logging for their afternoon nap before they login later for their big Saturday night out. Edit: For comparison here, is Fortnite's current count of online players: Fortnite has more than fifty times the current number of users online.
  14. Could LL do something like the Zwift app? The avatars in Zwift remind me of SL. It's a fun app for exercising. When someone passes you, you get a message that says try to catch them. So you pedal harder on your stationary bike and you pass them, and then they pass you, and you pass them again, and the next thing you know you're exhausted and out of breath and got a really good work out. The Zwift app costs $15.99 per month. That's more than the $11.99 SL charges for premium monthly. This is a typical Zwift avatar:
  15. Not only is LL unable to convince new residents to stay, but the Lab is literally driving, long term residents away via introduction of poor quality products! Lindal I congratulate you on breaking away from SL and taking control of your real life. I recommend deleting your account. You're in a very logical and thoughtful state right now, but later you will be in a different state, and you will be tempted to go back on your decision and adversely affect your health. Burn your bridges so there is no turning back.
  16. The avatar bodies should at least be the bronze standard to entice new residents to stay. Gold standard mesh bodies would also be good so that LL could implement the razor business model: excellent free mesh bodies, but the accessories cost.
  17. Except on the SL forums, where we learn all kinds of personal information. That's why the forums have been more interesting than going in-world. You get actual responses here in a short amount of time. In-world, it's typically an off-line message long after you've logged out "sorry, I didn't see your message."
  18. What did you think of the new resident orientation process? Did a mentor attempt to help you?
  19. Who are the 7 active posters? Let's make a list. I think Persephone should be at the top of the list because I usually see her posts.
  20. Fortnite players strongly prefer female avatars. It's because female avatars have smaller profiles, making it possible for them to slip through smaller crevices and present smaller targets when fired at.
  21. They don't play Gor all the time. They do it for awhile, and then go somewhere and do other things, like dancing at Franks, where you might socialize with them. But if they're completely gone from SL, no you won't be socializing with them at all.
  22. Paying homage to the frog god before taking the treasure.
