You did start the topic and are therefore in some ways responsible for steering into a safe zone. I look at your threads as being like market research questionnaires. People who get their threads shut down are likely not to get as much involvement subsequent times because who wants to spend time thinking up an answer when the OP is only going to get the thread closed anyway?

Not everything is "abuse". It is a much overused word along with "toxicity".

Sure. Others can be abusive but I try to sticks to facts and rationale about the topic, not allow myself to get into an emotional response, which never turns out well. Most of the drama imo, is emotionally driven.

Why not? There are those who like stating that they report posts and do so often because they think something was said toxically instead of that this is an adult forum and people might need to grow up to partake in a place where adults speak. Just because certain posters have the ability to bend the ear of the mods when reporting, doesn't defend their justifications for habitually (addictively?) reporting everything they disagree with. It has been noted before where some have their posts removed when there is one prone to reporting involved in the thread and been fine with a similar posts where the habitual reporter was not involved. Some of us pay attention to these things.

Its the quality of discernment, not quantity.

Problem is that when one does not mention or imply a certain person, it leaves others to wonder if you meant them and some that you did mean to think you didn't mean them

Depends how well you can justify the reason it should be removed. And maybe too if you bring an apple to class.

No it is when their actions betray their words that it is suspect.

The forums that have the hive minds are ones where the participants swear up and down that there is not a hive mind. The SL forums are not so hive minded as other ones I have seen. But yeah, hive minded forums do exist.

See in Opensim scripts are exposed already BUT one can have a backup of all their items so that if their content is griefed and broken, they could at least pull out a backup. In SL one does not have that option.

Part of the potential issue I see with scripts is that they would expose the channels they are working on and that would expose them to being griefed. Too risky for that sort of vulnerability.

The english language is open source too but how to you fit the words together can most certainly be copyrighted as I suspect scripts are too.

I know of a number of scripters that would pull new and old scripts out immediately should that sort of change occur. DMCA's would likely be flying thick and fast.

Well I imagine a lot of creators would pull out of SL then if their copyrighted scripts could be copied by anyone. Be the same as making all mesh dae's accessible.

I think that could be contested though for scripts.

Yes the common response to being triggered is "fight, flight or freeze" (though only the first 2 are "officially" recognized and I added the third because I see it happen so often)

I find the heavy moderation and stricter community guidelines have put quite a crimp on people voicing how disagreeable they really can be if one considers what the forums were like even a few years ago. I see some unmoderated forums that can be a little more chaotic then here nowadays.

/Me wonders how many creators would make their items No Mod if they had the option of allowing their product to be modded and if then put for sale by the buyer, benefit financially from the sale of the modification. So if Creator puts out a product that allows retexturing, they would still get a kickback from the sale of a retextured mesh. Seems that would be a more agreeable solution to allowing modifiable products.
