An Extremely Useful Tool For Nvdia Users
Dilbert Dilweg replied to Verena Vuckovic's topic in Second Life Viewer
Thanks for the heads up . I have often thought the biggest scam in the video card world is, the vid card creators put the cheapest and low level fans on the product. The factory fans have always sucked. Unsuspecting users burning up their card and having to buy another one lol -

Logging infomation TOS question..
Dilbert Dilweg replied to Carl Thibodeaux's topic in General Discussion Forum
The viewer logs the same information by default. can be accessed looking at "Bumps, Hits, and Pushes"In develop menu of SL viewer 3 The user simply has a push logger Hud attached to him/her. It is probably set more sensitive than the SL viewer. Who knows. you might get some spam at a later date tho lol. Relax a little, -
Farewell old viewers - 9 July
Dilbert Dilweg replied to Aethelwine's topic in General Discussion Forum
Sounds Like fun. Should be a "Burning of the Viewer" ceremony lol -
Objects can be high vertices of course. It all boils down to the end user and what their computer has the ability to process. Lower end users may have trouble with multiple high end objects A heavy mesh with a lot of vertices pretty much affect the user end of the viewer. Some users, it can have no affect if they have a really powerful computer along with the best video cards out there. With Users who do not have a powerful computer, it can have devastating affects such and repeated crashes. Unable to stay logged in or move because the item has taken all of their resources to rezz the item. Mesh creators should always build in a way to ensure all users can wear/use it without problems. Consider maybe 75% users have low end PC or laptops. The rest are serious gamers with serious hardware. Heavy in physics will cause heavy server side use I see people make a dress with 64K verts and I can make the same thing with 7,000 to 10k and look just as awesome. Set smooth pretty much works out the smoothness without extra geometry It is just as easy to offer 2 types of the object. One high poly for high end users. and a Decimated one for lower end residents who have trouble staying in SL in general Kind of why sculpties made things laggy. No regard to construction and verticie count IMO

Sim owners alowing griefers?
Dilbert Dilweg replied to Christin73's topic in General Discussion Forum
How do you know the sim owner refuses to do anything? Nothing you say indicates how you reported it and or if reported properly. A Sim owner wont just ban somone just because you say so. There has to be proof and or him or her needs to withness it. If they never do anything about it could be reasons of their own Keep in mind, If you are griefed. then it is up to you to file the proper abuse report to LL. Telling a sim owner about the situation can only allow him to ban them on the region. and for the most part, bans are worthless because they are only name bans. If you want these users to stop the abuse, then file abuse reports to Second Life and file them properly. A Sim owner can not file an abuse report for you. Even still getting greifers to stop is a never ending issue. If you feed a troll with what they want. They will be back for more food And no the sim owner can not be held responsible for users actions. If so then LL is on the hotseat -

My back up runs the XFX GeForce 9800 GT+ Black Edition. It can run SL on ultra efficiently at about 15-20 FPS. Not the best today of course but a very cost effective short term solution. I agree. I have been running a 9800GT for several years now. Very nice card and strong. It has actually been the most relyable Vid card I ever owned. But it is getting time to upgrade for personal preference. But if a user has a low budget. they would be happy purchasing this card Something else I did and not knowing your budget, you might want to try a SLI set up with 2 9800's or 3 for that matter cuz they are ridiculously cheap right now. I think you would be impressed with the results. Just throwing some thoughts your way... I hear ya. I really do not do any other gaming than SL and SL doesn't take advantage of SLI. So, I really cant see using it at this time. The new Geforce GTX Titan looks sweet, 6 gigs of RAM AND OVER 2600 Cuda cores. Slap a few of those under the hood lol Might be fun processing blender projects

Every time I log on I get logged off almost immediately, HELP!
Dilbert Dilweg replied to CissneiRekka's question in Technical
Try logging in to a different location Hit ctrl-p to open preferences. Go to the general tab and enable Start location to show on login screen After that, close preferences, and you should see a new drop down on the login screen where you enter your name and password. Enter the region name like "Smith" or another region of your choice and see if that doesn't help. And Clear cache If you happened to just do an image drive copy to your new computer or transfered your old hard drive to the new computer, then I would recommend a reinstall of the viewer -
We can Name the Continent ' The Great Crashing Divide"

If you get the message that it has downloaded the update. Then it should automatically install the next time you restart The viewer.

Rezzing on mesh - lost object
Dilbert Dilweg replied to Vollrath's topic in General Discussion Forum
I just tried with Official SL viewer 3 and was unable to reproduce what you describe. You might go look in the 0.0.0 corner of the region for it -

GTX are the 3 digit model numbers for desktops which are the newer and more powerful cards, The ti versions are just a beefed up version of a particular model number ( like the 550GTX will have a 550tiGTX) wich usualy come close to the power of the next model up.
